The Casio calculator watch is probably the most durable watch I've ever had. It's phenomenal (and functional). Also doesn't say it's water proof, but it's DEFINITELY waterproof. The flexibility and light weight along with the durability makes it my second favorite watch next to the Apple watch.
I took a scrap piece of leather out of my trunk and made a key organizer like that. Burnished the edges, made it look nice. Cost me absolutely nothing but about 20 minutes of my time. Took the hardware from my old key organizer. Works perfectly.
I only have one folder I paid over $100 dollars for and that was in the 80's and I still carry it. The Civivi knife is something I would carry every day. It is in the price range I am willing to pay. I carry an Olight IR2 which again is at a price I am willing to pay. I have a Casio G-Shock watch that I ware to work because it goes through the metal detector without having to take it off. Most of my stuff came from Amazon and would be slightly more expensive than this but not much. This is in my wheel house. Great video.
I've been carrying an Allett wallet for around 10 year now. I started with the all nylon sport wallet and later switched over to the leather wallet (leather outside/nylon inside). It's still pretty thin, but the sport wallet is a little thinner. It's amazing how many cards that you can get in there and still keep it small. For a light, I carry the olight 3T EOS. I thought that I wouldn't use it much and it would end up in the drawer, but I use it all the time.
@@Lissiedi I was thinking the same thing. I laughed out loud when he praised how great that mini razor blade knife was… and then opened everything else with his folding knife. That $200 would have been much better spent on one medium quality blade (he had 3 cheap junk blades) and one good light. You can still buy a nylon wallet for $10 and a pack of ballpoint pens for $5.
my friend gave me a smaller civivi, stone washed bronze scales. I've bought quite a few knives in my life, carried the same spyderco every day since 1998. That civivi knife is soooo smooth and the opening action is slick. You just think about opening it, and the blade is out. I used it to gut, skin, and de-bone a deer this october. Held up super well. I'd buy another for sure!
I carry a civivi and have had a lot of other knives in that price range but by far this is the best knife Ive had. I carry it full time and it gets used a lot. Really recommend these knives.
The Rite In The Rain pens and refills are made by Fisher. The ink formulation in the RITR refills is slightly different than the ink in the Fisher refills but has the same properties as Fisher refills (write in extreme temperatures, upside down, etc). The RITR ink writes a little drier than Fisher to work better with Rite In The Rain paper.
It's easy to click a flashlight on in your pocket, which would be detrimental to the already fleeting battery life so I can understand the double click.
Oh, man, that Casio Databank pushes ALL my nostalgia buttons. I was in college, and already a fan of Casio calculator watches, when the first Databank went on sale. I was delighted at the idea of a watch that could remember phone numbers and appointments for me, because my memory for such things was unreliable. A Databank watch was practically a part of my body from 1983 until I got my first Palm PDA in 1998. And that green Databank is beautiful. I am strongly tempted to buy one, but it would be purely a nostalgia purchase. My Apple Watch does everything the Databank can do, and a lot more. But I do have TWO wrists, so maybe . . .
Zebra makes a little tiny pen that would fit in that slot, I have one of them at home. I like the color and material, I'd probably go for a orientation though. Also might grab one of those key blade things, that was pretty nice.
Yes if you're referring to the same one I have, it's a pen and mechanical pencil set, each being around 3-4" in length and stainless steel. Nice little set! I carry the pen in my wallet and pencil in a secondary pouch with other tiny EDC gear.
I drive a truck ( at night ) . I carry 3) flashlights , a "O " light w/ pocket clip . A " O " light about an inch long , and a " O " light key ring light ( not good for much more than to find a key , or , the hole to stick it ... Hmm ?! ) . Oh , BTW I also carry ( and use a headlight ) .
For an edc knife it’s all about blade steel and just how often you use it. I literally use mine daily and have since I was 8yrs old. Within the last couple years I adopted a light. Use that daily as well. Multi tools…. Not so much but my truck is always close and there’s always a go bag with anything I need if my toolbox is out of stock
I really like the all-green EDC. I would pick a different pen, however. My lifestyle doesn't really call for writing upside down or under water, so I've never felt a need for a Fisher Space Pen. My go-to pen is the Zebra Sarasa, a retractable gel pen that writes unbelievably smoothly. And the Sarasa Grand 0.5mm comes in a dark green with black highlights and a gold clip. I already have more pens than I need, but I'll probably buy at least one of those because it's just gorgeous.
Being retired military, I always love OD green themed EDC! I alternate between OD green, black, and blue EDC items. It’s really neat to see/find awesome EDC gear on your channel. Thank you for the video!
Package two: like the flashlight. The modes is good for power saving. Watch: nope. Save the money. But all my watches are analog and wooden. Knife: like. Agree on that one. There’s other good options but that’s a great option. And it’s green. 😎 I should do a set like this.
Funnily enough, when you showed the Casio box, I remembered that I wanted to look up what those calculator watches cost because it would be practical ngl and then you showed it, so perfect timing. Ofc, I have a calculator in my pocket on my phone, but it's similar to how it is with a flashlight: the real deal is far more convenient. Also, I've got the odd simple calculation to make at work every now and then and using my phone for that could be a bad idea, depending on who's watching.
I started wearing the Casio calculator in the 70's. Still do. In the 80's I was the road service man for an electronics repair shop. Being as old as I am I was taught to do most simple math in my head faster than many can do on their phone punching buttons,. Many of my repair jobs were fairly standard. So I could remember prices and fill in the repair form including tax. But I found that a large percentage of customers would scrutinize every number and question every cent. Wasting quite a bit of my time. But if I caused my watch to beep as if I were calculating the numbers as I was writing the bill. No questions asked.
Best budget edc light imo is lumintop tool AA. Throw a 14500 in it and you've got plenty of light that disappears in your pocket. Optional magnetic tail cap as well 👌 all for 20-25 bucks
I bought that Civivi Praxis love been carrying it for a year and I also have Rovivon light it’s tiny I’m almost afraid of losing it but it’s bright for it’s size great gear 😎🇺🇸🤙🏼
Very solid and it all matches! This is by far my favorite “from xxxx place” EDC so far. Amazon and the internet are pretty much infinite when it comes the anything nowadays. Another amazing video. The praxis was like my 3rd or 4th edc blade.
I had the black Casio calculator watch when I was a UH1-H&VMaintenance Test Pilot in the Army... it even had a little number game that was fun to play... fun litle watch...
Manager showed us a box cutter that he put on his keychain so what does he do on the next package? He uses his jackknife to open the box lol that’s just too funny.
I’ve carried this exact green RovyVon flashlight for over a year maybe even 2 years. It lives on my para cord lanyard via its clip. I’ve gotten many compliments and a few buddies to go out and buy their own.
Another great episode Taylor. The green carry is one of my favorites too. Love that Casio calculator watch too, but man, that negative display is one if the worst out there: very hard to read + no backlight. I ended up converting mine to standard positive display. Lost the stealth, but much easier to read now
Rovyvon let me done, spent the money on copper light and didn't last a year. Reached out for warranty and no response and now past warranty. Before it dimmed out and only had an extremely dim led it was great.
I bought one of those data banks a while ago, it was/is my main watch when I can’t use my Apple Watch; great watch, beat the hell out of and it still works perfectly
The double click helps from accidentally turning it on in your pocket. Love that feature! I love rovyvon, carry and use it all the time. Super bright and not hard on the wallet.
I'm wearing a Casio calculator watch right now. A buddy gave me one for my 19th birthday cause I thought his was pretty dope. I'm 28 now and the thing still looks brand new and works great.
what kind watch were you wearing through the video? Love the heavier watches, been looking for a new one myself! This is a killer line up of products going to order one of the pallet right now!
Package one. The tiny knife is useless when you’ve got other edc blades. Key thingy won’t work for vehicles. Wallet looks good! Like the pen if it writes on wet surfaces. Great addition.
My brother had the “calculator watch” when I was a kid…not going to lie I might buy one after watching this video….found your Channel a while back let’s say I started with a civivi->spiderco->now I’m rocking a large sebinza on the regular…carry on
I only use Yoshida & Company by headporter (slim wallets), I got a really good deal (used). I rotate my wallet, knife, belt (groovebelt) and zippo case (w/ thunderbird insert) every week.
Gerber multi-tool says hammer and points at the flat section of the pry bay on the back of the packaging, would appear so. Not sure what nails you would drive and whether your hand your appreciate you.
Genuine question, what is the purpose of carrying the Civivi knife as an everyday carry? Sorry if you said so in the video, I watched but didn't find an answer. I understand the utility knife as a box/letter opener. But wanted to ask because carrying large knives, especially locking blades, is totally illegal here in the UK so I'm just curious what functionality i'd be missing without one? I can't imagine what I'd use it for day-to-day, personally. Just wondering :) Love the practicality of this video though! I've already added similar wallet and key items to my daily carry.
The different MhH numbers, I’d imagine, are for the lights with the side lights and multiple functions like that. They’ll eat up more battery, most likely but they use the same packaging for all of their lights so they just put that range.
I have always loved seeing this series so I would love to see you continue it in the future, also this is the first time I’ve actually thought to look for my name in the patreon list, love the channel keep doing what you do
I got the armbar recently and i feel like it could use a lot of improvements. Deploying the tools arent so intuitive and they really should have included a pocketclip. Really hope gerber improves it with a v2.
Hey I use a rovy von Aroura as my primary flashlight and I charge it every two weeks using it every day. It has many different settings including a low so you don’t need to be blasting turbo all the time even then the high settings last for ages
I kept waiting for the True Utility to come back in stock and got sick of waiting. Bought the KeySmart Mini a few months ago and absolutely love it. Added a magnetic attachment to pop my truck fob on and off and it’s a perfect setup.
Pretty cool. I'd be careful dangling my keys off that rubber loop on a belt loop. Hang em inside the pocket. If they drop, they drop inside the pocket. I would choose a larger flashlight for my purposes. I really like your budget videos.
Love that little light and utility knife. I've recently purchased my first torch to carry around everyday. I didn't even think about using one in the past, but now that I have it, I find myself using it frequently. The write in the rain pen is on my list of things to try and I've been looking for a good multitool to ask for my birthday, that looks good as a knife with attachments rather than a tool with a knife attachment, if you catch my drift. Not a fan of that style of wallet, but that's just a YMMV thing.
Love my key smart mini. I have the keys in case but never use them. I’ve had for several months now on my daily keychain, and I don’t think I’ve had to tighten it once.
Excellent choices. I think the EDC world needs these practical and affordable options featured to allow those just getting started to realize you can do this on a decent budget. The other thing I'd say, these kinds of videos never get old for me; especially by you Taylor. You could honestly do these 1/year as things change and advances are made. I know you have a lot going on, but this could be an annual staple for your line-up. Thanks for the work you do. I love your channel because you're an expert that makes everyone feel like they can build a decent collection no matter their budget!
@@Goofiest_goober838 It's a viable "gun shaped object" which may or may not function as a firearm. If you wave it around most people won't even realize it's a Hi-Point
An Analog watch can also serve as a navigation aid while a digital watch will not. A Folding Knife that Does not Have a seat belt cutter and glass breaker has limited use a Minimal Kit should Have some Minimum Requirements.
About the best knives under 50$, you can simply present the ones you like the most in terms of design, or present brands less known than civivi and others, but still worth a look
If you do a best under 50 you should check out the ruike p135-sf or any frame lock ruike. I use mine every day as a bushcraft and survival camp lead instructor and it is fantastic. I used to use a tanto inkosi but wanted to switch to something more budget oriented and after trying a bunch of civivi's and crkt's I finally landed on the ruike a month ago and it is so surprisingly good. Not as good of action for fidget stuff but probably the best budget knife I've used because of the ergonomics and 14c28n blade
When it comes to wallets look at Yellow Birch, US made , and multiple sizes and colors. I have the small green one that fits perfectly in pocket and allows me to carry cards ,cash, mini flashlight, pen , small Swiss army knife and more and is palm sized.
