That is correct....the cycle follows the cycle of keys in order of sharps or flats.

Thanks...but only in the left hand. I have Dupreytrens Contracture in the right hand so both the 4th finger and 5th finger are curved in..limiting the stretch immensely.

@@KentHewittpiano88 No I wouldn’t, I am too inventive and I prefer the simple route first off. It’s the (vii I ) through the circle of 5ths - Improvised throughout. And I stick to the 2 octaves in the middle of the keyboard, which forces the mind to make the necessary inversion come out of the fingertips. The thing is that improvisation is the key thing in all of this and I am finding that as my ear hears anything wrong it is corrected by selective preference. And it is all done within those 2 octaves. Adaptive fingerings which please the ear is the outcome and I find that as I progress with it the melodic phrases crossover from one hand (one octave) to another in a harmonic dance of rhythm. It takes time and much effort at first but I find that getting the most out of the simplest progression of - vii I - is the way to go when gliding through the circ of 5ths. It has a nice release of tension from 7th chord to 1st. And always lots to play with as far as rhythm and melody goes. It becomes all about invention as I progress through the circle which it turns out is from the 4th of the new key (IV) vii I and instantly that (I) is IV. Right off the leap to that diminished is dissonant but when the melodic phrase is applied to it then it flows into the maj7 of new key because that 7 is 4th ongoing. Forcing the ear to invent an improvisation on the spot is the best exercise of all. It beats uniforming the circ 5. It’s like living in the 60s on a dessert Island (misspelling of dessert intended). Yeah it maybe limited to my own invention but lots of tropical fruit and a nice piano, what else do I need while learning the circle of 5ths?

Yes, you not need to play the 5th. The 3rd, 7th, root. and color tone or upper extension if needed are more essential
