Suggested suppressors mentioned in this video: Silencerco Sparrow for easy cleaning. Silencerco Switchback, Rugged Oculus, Deadair Mask are all very quiet. Silencerco Warlock, B&T are both Cheap good but aluminum. (FYI - the B&T can not be taken apart for good cleaning)
I'm glad you called out Q. How that man is still in business is amazing to me. Forget about any customer service- they will blatantly insult you as you tell them their product has a flaw.
Nice video. I have the Silencerco Sparrow and the Dead Air Mask. As you mentioned, the old monocore design of the Sparrow is a little noisier with the first round pop issue. However, I rarely use the Dead Air Mask. The main reason is even though both of those suppressors have stainless steel baffles, I tend to shoot several hundred rounds (sometimes more) on a range trip. The Sparrow will handle that with ease, whereas the Mask should be cleaned more frequently. One good thing about both of them though is they’re full auto rated. I do use them on a 10/22 that has a select fire trigger pack. Couldn’t do that with a can that uses aluminum baffles.
Would like to hear your thoughts on the AB Suppressor Little Bird. Don’t own one yet but it’s as simple and quite as any I’ve seen reviews on. Maintenance and cleaning are pretty simple. I’ve handled one and talked to owners that are happy with their purchase. Not to hard on the wallet also.
I'm always interested in new designs. From the little bit I've seen it looks like Jessie's girl has a cup style baffle setup so it should be good on first round pop.
Worth noting about the Sparrow..Because the threads are part of the monocore design means that after you clean it, it will clock the same way on the host weapon. Therefore, there will be no point of impact shift... I have a Mask and I am meticulous about lining the keyed part of the baffles in the same spot referencing the logo on the tube… Even then there will be a slight point of impact change and I'll have to rezero to get it dead on. Also, on a rifle and especially when a little dirty, the Sparrow will keep up with the Mask and all the top brands. so you're saving about $130-$140 when you're buying the Sparrrow and if you're getting a rifle rimfire suppressor it just makes sense.
Great video! I have the Sparrow, and love it! I just purchased the Mask, and now, I’m thinking I should’ve gotten the Oculus. How widespread are the quality control issues? If I get a good one, is it that good, compared to the other two? On SilencerShop, the Mask has the highest rating. I will say, though, the Sparrows FRP, is mitigated very well, with spraying a welders anti-splatter spray inside it. It also helps with cleanup. I look forward to any replies. FYI: I have not yet certified the Mask, would you chance it? Or pick something else? I also have a Rugged Obsidian 9
Hey BC, I was wondering if the Deuce will be needing any routine maintenance soon? It would be nice to see you walking around with DA form 2404 on a clipboard in one hand and the TM9-2320-209-10-1 in your other hand. But seriously, do you just not get many views on your " Deuce " videos? I understand if it is an income thing. Bills have to get paid. Maybe you could do a video on putting a better " suppressor " on the Deuce?
I enjoy my YHM Pantom 22. It's fairly cheap, sounds great, light weight, and still made with stainless baffles. The only downside is slight first round pop. It's not that bad, but it is there.
When you say solid Mount is that the same as a fixed barrel Mount? I’m looking at the omega 36. Didn’t consider using it on my 22 , I would love it if I could. Thanks in advance.
Yep, the fixed barrel mount sometimes called a direct thead mount in 1/2x28 will attach it to a 22. Keep in mind that 22 is super dirty though a suppressor so having a good cleaning method in mind for that welded 36 can before shooting a ton of 22 through it would be best.
I understood everything you said except at the very end. What's up with the support for mounting the suppressor?? Isn't the 1/2 by 28 that comes with a Taurus TX 22 all I need?! 😕
A 9mm suppressor doesn't automatically come with the correct solid mount needed for a 22 so you have to buy that separately if you're using a bigger suppressor not made for 22 on a 22.
I'd be interested in a sound comparison with Alpha A22, Bowers ICON 22, Oculus 22, Little Spoon, AB Little Bird, Switchback. Also cleaning, I have been seeing breakthrough cleaning that is supposed to be safe for aluminum and everything else.
Thanks for the video. What problems was Dead Air having on the Mask suppressors? My son just bought one 2 days ago from a local dealer that had them in stock. (I think he did his Docusign today, and it is his first can. I would hate to see him have a bad experience, which may make him shy away from them. Waiting 6 months or more, only to find out you have a defective product would be a major bummer.) Thanks
Huge fan of Silencerco I’ve got the hybrid 46 that I’ve had for about 6 years and love it but my most recent jewel I just picked up is the switchback! And I is hands down best super hush hush best purchase
Cool video! Very informative. Thank you. For .22 I have a TiON Minuteman in titanium. Quiet, easy to clean, and the stacked baffles are indexed for different pressures/ barrel lengths.
@@jwdundon ha! It’s quiet enough for me. In a bolt action, with subsonic .22lr it’s almost Hollywood quiet. On my friend’s AR w/ .22 conversion, you can hear the action cycle. I like it.
Have a sparrow and just purchased a Q erector yesterday (only bc wait times are so short and I wanted a second 22LR suppressor just because). Any recommendations on cleaning aluminum baffles?
Clean by hand with a carbon solvent and a nylon brush. Due to the aluminum, you can't use an ultrasonic, tumbler, or the DIP. I've used my pocket knife to chip out heavy layers of lead before, but you risk damaging the baffles doing that.
@@deuceandguns yea I have experimented with quite a few. The Hoffman is about the best I think. I'm running one on a 16" 308 and probably have north of 1k rounds on it. PLA plus from Sunlu. I also used the brass pin bushings.
Why wasn't Thompson Machine wasn't included? Their suppressors are well priced and super quiet, and just about all of their suppressors are monocore designed.
Recently picked up a Walther PPQ M2 in 22LR, aside from getting suppressor ammo, anything else I should know before purchasing and using a suppressor with it? Will definitely look at the Oculus, Mask, and Switchback options.
Out of a pistol you really don't hear much of a sound difference between subsonic and regular high velocity 22 ammo. The short barrel doesn't give it a chance to become supersonic. I'm not super familiar with that particular Walther so keep in mind you may need an adapter to 1/2x28 threading to attach a standard suppressor(assuming you're in the usa).
@@deuceandguns Gotcha, this model comes with a threaded barrel / suppressor ready. Just wasn't sure if there was anything else to be concerned with as far as the gun cycling properly when using the suppressor. Thanks!
It should be fine. Som 22 pistols come with an extra recoil spring intended for suppressor use so you may look for one in the box. If nothing is there it should be fine as is.
Not personally but per those I trust it's a good one. It may be as good as the Deadair mask or Silencerco switchback but it also cost more than those as well.
A little disappointed i didnt hear anything about OSS or Banish, both are really solid supressors in my opinion. But i do agree that silencer co does fantastic work with there products
I don't have personal experience with them but the numbers look good. With it being a cup/K-baffle design it'll be good on first round pop but I don't know what its real world sound is. I'd like to test one out but all my resources use Silencer Shop and the Banish is a Silencer Central exclusive.
At this point the only ways we are going to get suitable customer service back for so many companies. Is either boycott, or next day air mail a knuckle sandwich with a side of ghost pepper sauce.
When you find a MODERN revolver that you can slap a suppressor on, well, you'll have something.. The only one I know of is the Nagant, and it's been something like 1918 when it was last made.. Me, I'm not very hot about using that old of antiques.
These new 3D printed titanium suppressors are getting pretty good. I expect in the next 5-10 years everything I have will be obsolete when compared to the newest 3d printed designs.
Mmmmm very good pistol. It's possible to need for me. But I think is better for me revolver pistol Colt or Smith Wesson with this kind of pipe will be better for me.
Silencerco offers a spacer if required for $15. They also have an adapter for arould $30 which has an oring to eliminate any gas leakage through the threads.
@@deuceandguns they supplied a spacer with mine. Once installed, the amount of thread engagement it offers is insufficient. It makes no sense to design something that can’t at least accept its thread diameter (.5”) in length.
Two reasons. First, the design is really that good. Second, after you purchase it it'll sit in your dealer's safe for 7-12 months before you take it home anyway so you can deal with any QC issues during that time.
Penetration is not important. Just imagine how many views you would get making the first video of a silencer sounding like it is supposed to sound. Would firing .22 shorts work running through that foot long suppressor?
The formula, which is just like any other recipe, is 1. Shorter barrel, generally the better.. 2. Subsonic ammo; The slower the better.. But at some point, if you go to slow, the pistol won't cycle but manually. 3. The bigger the volume internal to the suppressor.. 4. Don't shoot steel. 5. Shoot in an open area .. There are some .22LR ammo that is made with basically just the primer. Like the Aguilla Colibri . The quietest I've seen is my normal ammo of CCI Standard Velocity, thru a suppressor like the Silencerco Switchback, on a Beretta 21A Bobcat ( 2.4 inch barrel ) .
I don't have any first hand experience with TiON so I can't comment on them. Thunder Beast makes a good rimfire can but it's not any better than the ones I mention here while being at the high end of the price range. Also, for some reason not in stock at the local level as often as the others so it's hard for people to check them out in person before the very involved purchase process.
I've only shot the 1st gen model. It wasn't as quiet as most 22 cans but I've heard the 2nd gen is quieter. The dude who owned it said it was super difficult to clean due to the outside the baffle gas flow but I don't think he had a stainless steel tumbler either.
For a company to tell you to STFU that’s wild I’ve never seen that before. And people are all about that company but this tells me not to mess with it even though I really like there guns I’m glad I never bought one.
Yeah, it was so out of the blue. I actually don't like Q products. Like, I had an interest in them like their bolt action in 300bo and 8.6bo but seeing the reviews made me change my mind. After seeing that, I'm glad I also didn't spend on their products. Even if I forget this incident or video, it'll always be in my head to naturally avoid them.
@@deuceandguns Then don't say the Mask has "had some quality control problems recently" because that's not at all true. There's a HUGE difference between bad QC and bad CS.
Thank you!!!!! You just put my fears to rest. I just bought the Mask, but it hasn’t been certified yet. After reading about quality control issues, here, I got worried. Thanks for clarifying that statement. Damn Deuce!
@@BafflingBS I have four Dead Air suppressors, including a newer Mask, and I haven't had problems with any of them. You'll really like the Mask, it does a great job on both rifles and pistols. It is very quiet and it doesn't have a discernable first round pop.
How hard would it be to say the quietest suppressor on the market is model x downsides of model x are blah blah blah blah and blah blah? If those are not a problem, there you go. If those are a problem, the next pass suppressor is suppressor why its problems are blah blah blah blah blah blah..... I realize you would have to structure what you say before you start talking, but it would make life infinitely easier for people who are actually trying to research what they want to buy..... I'll spend 1,500 bucks on a suppressor one time. I don't want to spend 700 bucks three times and then spend 1,500 bucks.
The problem with that is that different suppressors are better at different things. A 22 shot out of a rifle needs a different type of suppressor vs. the same round shot out of a pistol. A 147 grain subsonic 9mm sounds quieter out of a 45 caliber suppressor than a 9mm suppressor but it'll measure louder on equipment. The reason is because our ears hear higher pitched tones better than lower pitched tones and with subs a 9mm is lower pitched through a 45 can vs. a 9mm can. On the same note a supersonic 115 grain 9mm is louder through a 45 can. Even the type of gun powder used can favor one suppressor over another. I really wish it wasn't this complicated but it really is when you're looking for the best of the best. If you have a single specific setup in mind call around to local dealers until you find one that lets you test them.
TiON Minuteman .22 suppressor. I have one (titanium), and it has individually indexed baffles. Pistol, index the baffles in a straight line. Rifle, offset the index, on each baffle, 90 degrees. Comes apart with a standard socket wrench, and if the baffles are really gunked up, lightly tap them out with a wooden dowel. Love mine.
Easiest way to accomplish this- go look at which suppressor has the most reviews. It'll be the most popular for various reasons. The simple answer you're looking for isn't going to fit everyone, but there must be a reason certain suppressors have so many sales. Other people already did the research for you.
@@pocketbike698 most people don't do their homework it's marketing sales suppressors they kept me the best marketing or has the most guys on RU-vid saying this is the best oppressor because it was a freebie those are the ones that are selling! A suppressor does one thing it makes the bullet quiet! What's 22 suppressor makes the bolt the quietest if there's a tie and what are the top two this isn't really complicated somehow people have made this really really complicated! I'm not comparing car mufflers that will give me different "sounds", I want the quietest suppressor for a 22 on the market. That HAS NOT BEEN DONE. Every gun tuber I find, is Bought.
