I really did nothing to my car for years and just drove it. Stock they are great cars, I only started modifying mine because I sold my money pit C5 Corvette that was my race car. Modified the S4 is a blast to drive and will put a smile on your face every time. If I started over again, I would do the following in this order. 1. rear sway bar end links - eliminates understeer, if setup right you can now kick the backend out. 2. air intake - supercharger noises are the best 3. any needed maintenance - water pump, pcv, clean valves, DSG fluid change. If you mod past this point you want your car to hold up to it. Make sure your car is 100% running right. 4. replace any worn suspension or front-end bushings - I had several cracked on my S4 that I was not aware of until I looked. when you're pushing the limits, this will matter. 5. Heat exchanger 6. Tune - If you do not have test pipes, I would not go dual pulley (I have jackal motorsports best priced tuner) 7. If you're like me and use the power, you now have. I'd upgrade the front calipers to 4 piston Brembo's off a Q5 or Porsche Macan. These are not bad if you buy used ones off ebay. Make sure you buy the ones that will fit the 345mm rotors. You can also fit b9 brakes on a b8 but that'll cost more money, but you'll get 6 piston calipers and larger rotors. I'm very happy with my Q5 calipers and I beat the crap out of my brakes. 7. exhaust - basically replace (and move) or remove the stock catalytic converters with test pipes. I like my car quiet so I will be replacing them with the JHM kit JHM-B8DPXHFCIBS30T 8. Now dual pulley 9. ethanol sensor with P3 gauge to run E40 gas. You don't need this to run E40 but I don't want to look like a scientist at the gas pump testing the fuel I put in my car each time.
@@Infantryman662 absolutely a great plan for more expensive mods! I want to go stage one here soon- I have all my preventative maintenance done except carbon cleaning. I still get 25-30mpg driving city so maybe once im over 100k miles I’ll get it done. Test pipes and heat exchanger would be nice for peace of mind but that’s another 2k. It’s difficult to mod these cars on a budget. I just forked over 2k for the exhaust and down pipes but it was 100% worth it. People say these cars don’t sound good but if you get a valved exhaust you can keep it as quiet as stock when you want. I definitely need to check the suspension again soon also I want some lowering springs.
@@AddisonRoyer Exhaust is something I haven't touched yet because it costs so much. But I don't want to ruin my engine so I'm at the point in mods where I have to upgrade my exhaust. I cleaned my valves at 130k miles when I did the PCV. It was not hard hand cleaning them with a wire brush imo. They were not as dirty as I expected them to be. I did have oil pooled up around my PCV. Stock the S4 looks good and you're proving that it doesn't take much to make it look even better. ECS wheel spacers are another good cheap mod that makes the car look better.
@@Infantryman662 spacers will be next for sure and going a little lower! I like the peeler style wheels too much to get another set. Audi does a great job with stock wheels
@@AddisonRoyer They do look good and are the right price used compared to anything else. I just picked up a used set for winter tires. I'm tempted to clean them up and rattle can paint them another color.
