1:03 How to stop
1:21 Tactic 1 - Rubberband
1:36 Tactic 2 - Breath
2:04 Tactic 3 - Talking out loud
2:52 Tactic 4 - Make a list
3:49 Tip #2 - Find a new community
5:14 Tip #3 - Conscious feelings of gratitude
7:43 A personal note
How to move on and stay the course after divorce to heal quickly? I give you my best 3 tips for dealing with divorce and how to help you get over it quicker. You need to first, stop having sentimental thoughts about your ex. Let that sh*t go, it's over, you need to move one. Catch yourself when you've gone down that path of thinking loving sentimental thoughts about her. They no longer serve you. I give a couple of techniques on how to help yourself to stop doing it.
Second, find a healthy new community. This could be church, running, Crossfit, cars, yoga, or anything positive. You need to start doing new things and meeting new people. Less time to dwell in your pain and thoughts.
The third tip is find things to be grateful for. Start small if you have to like your health, eye sight, smell, hearing, family's health, where you live, the people you know... There is always something you can find to be grateful. This will start to reframe your mind. Let the gratitude spread every chance you get. You will eventually be grateful for this pain and this divorce over time. That's a long ways away, but it will happen if you continuously find things to be grateful for.
If you've taken anything positive from this video, all I ask is that you please hit that Like button. I love reading the comments and I am the one that responds to them all, so let me hear from you!
Good luck to you!

Great stuff man, I’m only 25 and we were married for 4 years. We have a 2 year old. Going through the break up right now and this really helped a lot. I’m in the military so staying busy has helped me but there’s times when I’m alone and I get this sentimental thoughts.... and is okay to have them.. my goal now is to have a great coparenting relationship with her because my son means the world to me

The pain that I am dealing with at the moment is unbearable. It's a nasty cocktail of resentments, memories ( good and bad ), fears and grieves. I am so grateful that I found this video during this phase of my experience. Man....I wished this all could stop as soon as possible, my mind is not my best friend at the moment...it's a struggle alright, I feel half in and half out, I am making progress but there were times when the emotions were so intense, I could feel them in my physical body, out of breath etc. next time my mind wants to drag me into that dark places of the past, I'm gonna stand up and say..NO.

This is speaking SUCH serious facts right now, that just hearing him even talk about this stuff without trying it first is already helping me to start the healing process. It's only been 2 years of marriage for me, but this month would be our anniversary, and I just got coerced into divorce yesterday. I'll definitely be back on this video to report back on my process, but I just wanna say WE ALL GOT THIS, Y'ALL 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Wish I would've seen this years ago. My divorce happened 4 1/2 years ago but the memories, heartache, and pain is still there like it just happened yesterday. I blame only myself even though she walked out on me without trying to even fight for the marriage. She promised that she would never ever divorce me yet she became cold and just walked out the door. I'd be lying if suicide hasn't come into my thoughts. I loved and still do love her. But these memories and thoughts have become poison to me and my mental health. I've tried to move on and date but I keep thinking about my ex, I hope and pray that one day soon I can free of this. Even though I wish we could get back together, she's chosen to throw away 7 years of marriage without a care. And I'm the one left heartbroken and she's happy with herself. Really isn't fair, isn't right. One day, one day I'll be free of this

Thanks for making this video. It’s obvious so many of us are in the same boat. All experiencing the same thoughts. Different reasons. I find community to be difficult but maintain my healing via workouts and any time spent with other “dads”. I find most of them won’t find time to come out due to wives controlling their time. Not to mention my X already talking with their wives. We both amicable during this divorce, yet she has gone out to all people to let them know her side of the story. She had taken away from me a moment where I could have said some things. Don’t let this happen to you. Go out there and let every one you know what has happened and how much you need their help.

Mentally, I'm not in a good place right now because of this. I really don't have any close friends or family for that matter. And she's moved on but I can't. Everytime I get a text or my phone rings, I wish it was her but it never is. It's hard my man. It really is.

I'm not glad about anyone else feeling pain like this but it helps to know I'm not alone. After 15 years of marriage, I'm about to turn 41 and my wife and kids were my identity. In my heart there was no me without them and I would die for all of them but I was treated like crap by the wife and my 16 yo daughter followed suit. They left me and my 6yo son doesn't get to see me. The need to stop the pain for good still haunts me. I never had a great relationship with my dad and I thought I could break the course but he will grow up without his father at home and the wife could care less and when I respond in anger she uses that as one more excuse to treat me like shit. Stay strong brother.

My wife and I have been together 10 years and have 2 kids under 10, I honestly feel I will miss my kids being around all the time much more, I will still see them all I want, but I miss them when they go for a sleep over. Lol, me and my wife really just want different things in life, she decided to call it quits. I tried what I could to fix but her mind is made up. We've been together since we were teenagers, in alot of ways I feel like I'm learning to grow up at close to 30. She was always taking care of paperwork and government stuff cuz she was better at it, so I depended on her alot. It's sad but exciting at the time. The thought of being able to finally chase dreams do things I assumed were not within my reach before is exciting.

My wife kinda lost it. 36F, married 10 years with 2 very young kids. She decided the marriage was over and had an affair for 1 month with a guy, and at the same time hooking up with our 22F babysittter who is kinda ghetto, but at least she’s in college. They listen to Toosii together, RU-vid a song. Recently divorced. I found all the details on her Apple Watch b/c she forgot to change the password. Saw that they both got each others first initial tattooed on their wrists. Classy. Crazy part is my ex is a CPA making in the mid 6 figures. Educated and successful woman. Good riddance to trash. After a 3 year marriage where I made a 110% effort to do everything right a man can do,my wife divorced me.I was 31.I was very upset.The way I got over it was avoiding emotional attachments for a long time.Women are easily attracted to me because of my looks and would soon confess their deep feelings for me.That was when I would break it off.For a long time I just floated through relationships ,emotionally distant not caring if the relationship succeeded or failed.I really dont still care if I'm alone or with someone.I like being with women but need lots of time by myself too.Marriage is a womans thing,I have no use for it.

Good tips. Thanks! Analysis of this divorce experience had led me to see that it’s not the loss of love. Marriage for a man is foundational. Provider, protector, husband and dad. When she comes to you with divorce, she’s already processed and grieved the loss. And she actually feels empowered for self. Meanwhile, you are standing on quicksand. Your identity gone like tears in the rain. This is my 2nd divorce and I learned from the 1st; I can get over her quickly. But the kids. FK man. Dad is in the home. Sure, father is forever but father is not dad. There are no mental gymnastics to overcome that loss. Some debts cannot be paid. My advice is time. And so I’m giving it a year. My career, exercise, sleep, no booze or porn or politics or sports to numb. I’m going live in this 1br apt for one year and then look at the moon 🌙 I’ll see what I see and if I have peace and love then I made it through the storm. If not, plan B. Making a big change!

It's the emotional attachment that causes all the gut-wrenching heartache. Throw in the fact that you have young kids together and it's a living nightmare. It feels like your being punished by God and all you want is to rewind the tape and do it right. The crazy part is, I was allowed to rewind the tape, over and over. Chance after chance and it got a little better but always deteriorated. Sometimes I think I never really loved her and that was the root of the whole thing. But the attachment is no joke. You could put supermodels around me everyday and I would still just think of her. My brain is wired. I want it all to end, but don't at the same time because ending the misery would be letting go of hope (that's how it feels at least).

Very similar story to mine, it's been a week and I'm at a very dark place im worried about my mental and physicalhealth. Everytime I hear my phone notification I wish it was her, it never is. How have you been distracting yourself, they say it gets better with time but one day feels like one month.
@user-kl9th4dm2y
@user-kl9th4dm2y 5 месяцев назад
@@ByWelly The divorce will be finalized in a couple months, she's already monkey-branched with another guy and been posting more on social media and I rarely see my kids anymore. It's been extremely challenging. I've managed to let go enough and try this low to no contact. I've noticed her disposition towards me has improved just by giving her space and not chasing or bargaining anymore. Somedays, I get on this motivational high where I tell myself I'm going to conquer the world and don't need her anymore and it's a sweet but fugitive relief. The very next day, I'll fall into the same pathetic, obsession over her and feel nauseous. I even started talking to another girl and while it has been distracting, it feels so forced and artificial. My attachment and identify are so wired that it will likely take me years. My kids were trying to get me to buy her a Valentines' Day gift the other day at the store, I nearly broke down in tears. The only advice I can honestly give is to just push through each day. If you have friends and family around, lean on them. Try to embrace the "let her go and if it's meant to be, she'll come back" mentality. Stay strong and remember there are thousands of guys like us feeling the same way. You're not alone.

Great thoughts! It's hard to find people that are for you because he has flying monkeys including my kids that he has conditioned to believe that I'm bad. They have all learned to control mom and get her to do what they want. I need to have control because he's been controlling me through his words our whole marriage. He knows exactly what to say to make me back down. Every day I think I'm strong but then he says something that makes me think I'm wrong and I can't live without him or if I divorce him he won't be able to afford anything. Well what does he think I'm going to be able to do? I can't even work because I'm crippled from all he's made me do as a stay at home mom with no career while he goes all over the world and cheats on me. I have no self esteem thanks to him. I love the rubber band idea. I took him back so many times after he cheated because he made me think I couldn't make it without him. I almost killed myself today because he was blaming me so much for everything and I kept telling him he was right just leave me alone and get me out of this marriage but he doesn't want me to go. I'm going to do it this time even if I have to live in my car! Thanks for the advice

@Idbobay. Sorry to hear about your pain, unfortunately kids are the most lethal weapon used against a person. The 'Flying Monkeys' method has just exposed all of the people who aren't really there for you. Please, do banish those thoughts on ending it all, hopelessness, it will get better, simply because it has to, you have need of it, and so will your children. Give yourself some time, clear your clutter, material and emotional, keeping fit will help. Time permitting, get some hobbies, meditate, yoga, find a new group or just go out with the children and enjoy them and the time presented to you now. Children aren't stupid and hopefully, will eventually come round. All the best for the future, and good luck. 🙏🏾

Can somebody comment and help? I am divorcing my wife. Have a lovely daughter. The most disturbing thing about this divorce is the fact that my daughter will be raised by another man. It seema that I will get the custody of my daughter but again if my ex marries another man there will be another guy in my daughter's life. And all these things disturbe me very badly. What do you suggest? How can I overcome this feeling? What should I do?
@Mensdivorceplaybook
@Mensdivorceplaybook 3 года назад
Hey man, I was in this exact same position and still am with my daughter. Worrying about this will not help anything. You can't control what goes on in your ex's house. So I'd recommend maintaining as good a relationship as you can with your ex. Make it all about your two coparenting. I routinely offer my ex consideration and insight as to what is going on with my daughter in my household. Consequently, she does the same. You are just feeling FEAR and letting your imagination get the best of you. You have some control in the dynamic you create with your ex in hopes of creating a positive environment for your child. Good luck

@@Mensdivorceplaybook Thank you very much man. Appreciated. But coparentin seems not possible for several reasons. I dont wanna see or hear her. My daughter stays with me now. I filed for divorce in June, 2020. There is still no court decision rgarding the temporary custody and she has not asked for our daughter or tried to see her. She physically damaged our daughter. and she has a mental illness that she and her family have been trying to hide for many years. There are lots of things that make coparenting impossible. I tried to maintain this marriage but for the last 5 years she has been talking about divorce and there was no real cause for a divorce. I am an emotional guy and she very well knows that I loved her too much. and she all the time thretean me with the divorce to get money and other stuff. Ive lost 2 jobs because of her during last 2 years. She has pysically beaten our daugher. There are other lots of insulting stuff. One day she told me that " you go find a woman like you, and I will find a man like me" "I very well know how to cheat on you but since I gave a promise to you I did not so let us divorce" And my mom heard her saying to her friend on the phone "If I take a man to my home, my husband never knows it". Her thoughts and attitudes are not normal. Her parenting will be damaging for my daughter let alone coparenting with her. She is not a normal person. Sorry I wrote a lot. But I hurt a lot. She was at the house tonight. We said goodbye and it will likely be the last time I ever see her. Sadness, guilt, and fear. I am very grateful our divorce went so smoothly. No lawyers, no bitching, arguing, backstabbing, or petty bickering. She wanted the divorce and against all advice I went out of my way to be nice. I researched, filled out and filed all the paperwork. We paid off her car so she could afford the house. We split up all cash equally. She let me have all of my retirement. I got through it with exercise, eating right, friends and family to talk to, and trying to embrace change. Man, what a f’ed up ride this has been. I have to remember for a relationship to work both people have to happy.

Best of luck to you. I think a big part of why relationships don’t work is because people don’t stop and evaluate why they got in them in the first place. I think we should evaluate why we do and see if there is comparability on multiple levels before making life long commitments.

I moved cross country (back to WI) to give myself some time to clear my head but ultimately I wished I hadn't moved. My current job has not worked out the way I had hoped and I'm ready to ask for my old job in AZ. That requires me to leave family again so it's a tough decision. Mentally I'm ok except for the indecision to move. I've gotten heavily into triathlon and while my older age rears it's ugly head from time to time it's been a great goal to focus on. I have daily, weekly and monthly training goals all leading to a future goal of the race. I'm fit, I eat right, and managed to save some money along the way. At least I have a little security. @@addya4011 Addy, if the time comes when your wife tells you that she wants a divorce the best thing you can do is to remain calm, and preferably don't say anything, just listen to whatever she has to say and withdraw. Nothing you can say at that moment will change the situation. After that, if you can cut off contact with her that would be the best thing you can do. Give her as much space as you can.. then after awhile when emotions normalize you may try to initiate some contact with her.. but preferably let her come to you first... I wish I knew this before, It would have saved me so much trouble.

Hey, this was really some good advice! I was just divorced by my wife about two weeks ago and I have been having the hardest time. You see she is from brazil and I am from the US and we lived in brazil. I loved it here. Like everything about her. I am currently in brazil now, but the think is we did everything together. For the most part, we had an amazing relationship. I made a lot of mistakes but i was always working on myself. The thing is I am having the hardest time going anywhere now cuz every single place reminds me of my ex-wife in some way or another. She is so free of me because I hurt her (didn't cheat on her or anything) but I am taking this breakup horribly. Am I horrible? there must be something wrong with me. Those are the thoughts going through my head constantly. Anyway, this video was great thank you for that.

Hi Ian, thanks for the message. Things will get better. Control what you can and let go what you can't. Hopefully you find my other videos as well

The best way is to make new relationships not relationship but relationships. Keep your mind fresh with new thoughts. I am in Toronto and going to see my wife and son after 6years and wish me luck folks, I am planning divorce. Thankfully God finally divorce.
