The Amex Gold card isn’t just my favorite Amex card right now, but it’s my favorite credit card out of every card on the market. It’s just so simple to use and earn a ton of rewards on. I put all of my food spend on it…dining, groceries, take out etc. Plus being able to get 3x on on flights booked directly with airlines is really solid. Also, I use each one of the credits every month, leaving my effective annual fee at just $10. If anyone is looking to get this card, there are some really great sign up bonuses out there right now, so I’d go for it if you can get use from the credits! Great video overall John. I just can’t help but talk about the Gold card, but all the cards you mentioned are really solid!

I'm actually canceling the gold, the $10 dining credit is too restricted. Grubhub charges about 2-3 dollars more. I'd rather they put that $10 to Uber to make it $20 Uber credits. I value 3x UR to Hyatt more than 4x MR so even just the freedom unlimited will get me the 3x points on dining. Q4 chase cobrand bonus is giving me 10x gas and 5x on groceries on my Hyatt card plus freedom's quarterly grocery category change. I don't see myself using the gold much nowadays for that $250 AF.

So far got the chase trifecta and Gold Amex thinking about the BCE Amex card to complete the other spending category such as online shopping
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Год назад
@@AudioxMontage That's awesome! Just remember that the BCE doesn't earn MR points, so if you want cards that do, you'd have to get something different. But it sounds like you got a really solid setup!

This video is right on time. On Friday 9/9, I got the Amex Gold for personal and Chase ink cash. I didn’t want CSP just yet even though I have CFU already. I was 5/24 with 5th card being an AU. Went inside the branch to apply and was auto approved (I had the pre approvals for biz and personal in my account). Instead, I got a PenFed platinum with a high limit and a Navy Fed Go Rewards biz card. This morning I got the Amex Blue Biz Plus. I was mainly going for biz credit. Gonna garden now since I have some big business expenses coming up to work on these SUBS. I’m not sure I want the CSP. Waiting to see if CSR will be better next year. If not, I may go for the ink preferred when 4 cards mature to the 2 year mark and I’m eligible for Chase cards again.

@JoshDoesTravel
@JoshDoesTravel 2 года назад
If you don’t care which airline you fly on, consider the Alaska Airlines card from Bank of America. Using Alaska miles, you can get Cathay Pacific or Japan Airlines first class all the way to anywhere in Asia (including the Middle East), for only 70,000 miles one way. If you qualify as a small business, the business version of the Alaska card comes with a 70,000 mile welcome offer, which with the spending you’ll have to do to get it, more than covers your first class flight
@Widdom1
@Widdom1 2 года назад
@@JoshDoesTravel you’ll have to jump through several Olympic Acrobatic Hoops and use other third party vendors websites to spend a whole week trying to figure out when those airlines (mentioned in your response) release couple of seats to those that want to redeem their points to get those first class tickets. Usually their are probably several thousands of people waiting licking their chops just to click a few key strokes to get there first and get their tickets. Good luck waiting for another 12 months before those airlines release another Whopping couple of more tickets.

Hey John. I love Amex cards. They’re my primary travel cards (gold and platinum) but not every country accepts American Express. Matter of fact, every time I travel, I have to use my debit card because I only have Amex cards atm. I want to get a secondary travel card and don’t want to have limits to what I spend my benefits on. I have a choice between the sapphire reserve and venture X. Taking away the annual fee, which card provides the most benefits/money?
@cojadmin823
@cojadmin823 2 года назад
I would say venture X, because they pretty much pay you $10 to have the card.
@Th33Vultur3

My advice to you, get a Visa, Mastercard and a Discover as well. Don't soley depend on Amex. Inquiries aside and worrying about overspending, it doesn't hurt to have one of each major card issuer of the major 4. My main one is my Amex cards which I have 4 of them and rotate across all of my Amex cards and my cards as a whole to keep them active by putting in a small charge and then paying it off ASAP once it clears so the issuing bank sees there is activity especially on my oldest account and they don't close me out. On a recent cruise, I used my Amex Green card only on the ship for my bill for purchases on the ship and when I got on land, I paid attention to signage at a shop and some shops either didn't accept Amex at all, didn't have it at all listed so I assumed they didn't or I asked and they said no they don't accept Amex or Discover or had a big X over the Amex and Discover symbols to say they didn't accept it. So I carried one of each. I had my Amex Green card, my Chase Amazon Visa card, my Apple card which is a Mastercard and my Discover It Cash Back. Those 4 cards are all no foreign transaction fee. I notified all of them I was traveling even though 3 of them said I didn't have to. The only one that said I did was for the Discover It Cash Back. Its better to be safe than sorry and for them to not think my credit card was stolen.
@JC-rp6sp
@JC-rp6sp 2 года назад
@@Th33Vultur3 I would get more credit cards. But I want to allocate all my point redemption on the Amex side. If the place I go to doesn’t accept Amex, then I’ll have one card for literally everything else so I’ll get more points that way. I’m probably gonna get the sapphire reserve. Instead of getting $100 annually, I’ll save $300 a year on train tickets, flights, and airbnbs
@Th33Vultur3
@Th33Vultur3 2 года назад
@@JC-rp6sp That's the beauty of credit cards, there's plenty of options out there. There are people that hate annual fees and there are options for them. People like to use points for travel or get straight forward cash back. There are cards for lounge access, cards for no foreign transaction both with annual and no annual fees. There is something for everybody if used correctly. And yes, credit cards can be used incorrectly if people don't pay back what they spent on it. Therefore ruining their payment history and getting into debt.

@VincentPascual

Mine is the Amazon Business Prime. In addition to great rewards for Amazon purchases, I get Amex’s customer service and Amex offers. The Business Prime and its non-Prime sibling both have return protection as well. I bought something from a brick and mortar store and was worried I couldn’t return the item because of the store’s return policy. For my experience I can confirm that what they do is report every month your statement, but because this is a charge card it doesn’t show in your credit utilization or total credit limit available to you. What sometimes happens is that as you have a high balance then the previous month, they do show that statement as higher statements. If you use below that it could help you get some points as it shows you are using less. However, if you go higher then that, it could make you lose some points as well.
