As a beginner, this is how you can redeem American Expres Membership Reward Points for max value in 2022. My top recommendation will always be to move your points to a transfer partner. But if you can't be bothered or if that's a bit too much to manage an OK secondary option is to redeem through the Amex portal at a value of 1 Cent per Point

TL;DR: Awesome, thoughtful, clear, well-paced tutorials on how to use Amex pts. Liked and Subscribed. Longer: Holy crap! I’ve watch too many videos on points this and points that. As I watch, I correct them as I go. Eg: “You need to explain this or that. We don’t care about this or that. That’s too much/not enough detail.” IMO: First: you didn’t use clickbait, you introduced yourself, you made a few self-deprecating jokes, you politely asked for a like and subscribe, and you explained what you were going to cover. Then, you covered it and did so at a pace that was straightforward and without gimmicks. You explained how points are valued and you touched on why some ways work better than others. Then you went into the meat of the topic and went through each topic. I will watch this video at least a couple more times to take notes and write up a “tree” with for all of the additional info I will need. Thank you. I’ll be back.

John, great video, as always super informative, but please let your subscribers know about the surcharge. This boston trip to paris may only be 24,000 points but it requires $359 in taxes or surcharges thereby making the net pay out closer to $599.00. This surcharge skews the actual % per point ratio. More accurately it would be ($930/(24,000 points + $359) x100 = 1.55 cents is more realistic.

Amazing video!! Thank you for sharing all your experience in the credit card game. Love these videos. I have my first card, an AMEX Bus platinum arriving today. I wish I had known how all this works sooner. I spent $15k in the last couple months on business expenses using a card with absolutely no reward points, or incentives of any kind, OUCH!! that changes today!

Hello, I would love some help, tips, or ideas for an upcoming trip. I have a collection of Chase Ultimate Reward points and I am trying to figure out how best to use them! My wife and I are traveling from Phuket to Los Angeles on either July 7th/8th of this year and we are trying to figure out how best to use our points to book airfare. We are not sure which travel partners to transfer points to, or if we should just book through the Ultimate Rewards Portal. I wonder if an MR account can be used as an intermediary or brokers account between transfer partners in order to get better conversion rates. Example: Hilton Honors to Delta Sky miles conversion 10:1, but to Amex is 1:1; then Amex to Delta Sky miles is 1:1. I can't find anything online about intermediate transfers.

I don’t understand the math, shouldn’t you take away the fees before you divide the points? The points doesn’t cover the whole $930, in delta’s case, it only covers $850, and virgin’s case, the points only covers $571. Still more than 2 cents, more not the 3+ cents

There are a ton of options I think it would start out with where you're located. For example Southwest has their Companion Pass which is amazing. It's essentially a buy 1 get 1 deal. You can 'hack' your way to it by getting a Personal and Business SW card from Chase

Most of these users who have this many points are business owners. Getting hundreds of thousands of points per month. Only way to get more points is to optimize card usage and spend more.

Is there a quick resource to search across all transfer partners? Even though you can save a lot of money so it's worth the time, still pretty painful to have to individually search each one.

Your calculation was wrong about the points transfer to Delta. You took the price of a comfort+ flight from Amex travel portal which was $930 or 93,000 Amex points. But you compared that to the 64,000 miles for the main flight instead of taking 80,000 miles for the same comfort+ flight. So the CPP would be (930/80,000)*100 = 1.16 CPP compared to your 1.45 CPP.

Loved the video, but it was somewhat misleading. It is almost impossible to find deals like the first class flight from boston to doha for 70,000 British Airlines avios. When I went to book a reward flight to check for myself, there were no flights available in the year of 2024, let alone first class flights. Prices are nowhere near 70,000 avios.

honest the chase trifecta setup is unmatched in terms of cost and value. Capital one venture x is basically a free card with the travel points and credits. I find it hard to justify Amex cards in 2022

Your first suggestion for an Amex MR point card is the Blue Cash Everyday, but that’s a cash back card that doesn’t earn MR points 🤦🏼‍♂️ But otherwise, nice video 👍🏼
