I’m 5’2” and I feel your pain to appear taller. This video was very helpful. Most fashion gurus here on RU-vid don’t cater to us “shorties”. Thank you! 🙏
Your videos quality has become so much better . The hard work you put in every video , showing each and every detail and example is so much appreciated . Thankyou ❤️ from a 4ft 9’ petite :)
Yes! I certainly do know that feeling because it is tough when things can get so high you have to reach because i am a short man just like your a short woman
Hi Chi!🤩 I'm Asian, 5'2",top heavy and one who loves straight jeans and anything jeans! 😘you're amazing your thorough explanation is of immense help for me who have to 🤔 twice everytime before dressing up😥 you Rock 🧡👍
Hi! Thank you for saying what your inseam is! I'm also 5'2" and I have a 26" inseam and I always felt like that was abnormal. Now I know that someone else has short legs like me and I'm not so alone! Also, you dress in a way that always makes your legs look much longer so I will definitely take inspiration from you! Great video!!
At 5'4" I always check on inseam lengths too. This video helped me see where the length should end with all type shoes flat, heeled. This part was confusing until now. Thanks for the comparing visuals. Also, I never really paid attention to my tops since I fit regular sizes. But now I also see where the length should end so not to look frumpy or top heavy/bulky. When I look at old photos I can see the need to focus attention on top lengths too. When I'd see myself in the mirror then, I'd see unbalanced proportions and thought my mirror was playing tricks on me! Thank you! Keep up the good work! You know your stuff. I've watched all your videos, multiple times.
5’4” and 50 yo. Until now I spent my life buying random clothing items I really liked but would then find I had no idea how to put them together so when occasions came to wear them I would get stressed spending hours trying to figure out what went with what, or conclude I had ‘nothing to wear’ despite the stuffed wardrobe & dresser. Having been a stay at home Mom for the last 11 years has also meant I’ve felt out of touch with trends & styles. Aging a decade also means I feel as though I have to make an effort adjust my style to be more ‘age appropriate’ (ie not dress like my teenage daughter). Was feeling a bit overwhelmed with what to do until I came across your videos. So great to find some guidelines that actually work! Been applying them to outfits and I’m already amazed at the difference they make, thank you!
@Stellaria, thank you so much for watching! If you think youe are old and have difficulty with what you wear, I hope you won't have that problem when you finish watching it, I hope it helped you! Thank you! 💖
@@PetiteDressing Yes definitely helping! 🙂 I think the problem has been figuring out how to transition from my 30s/40s to my 50s - when I hadn’t really been updating my wardrobe a lot over that time. I used to think I’d be in my 30s forever but the decades go by fast. ❤️
@@evepalisada2640 inseam is the length of your leg from crotch to your ankle. It's the measurement used to see if a pair of pants or jeans are going to be the right length on you. Once you have that number, you can easily know right off if the pants or jeans are going to be too long or too short for you to wear. There's an area of about an inch or two of room on either side of your inseam measurement you can use to play with, depending on the shoes you will be wearing most of the time with the pants, or if you are going for the cropped look. Hope this is useful, and have fun shopping 😉
In my kitchen I open the bottom cupboard and put one foot in to reach the higher shelves! 😁 Thank you so much for specifying the measurements, i tend to leave my jeans a little too long because I’m never exactly sure what fits best. My favorite jeans cut is the bootcut worn with heels
That opening sequence, my daily struggle. I didn't have a step stool for my upstairs closet so my husband got me one of those grabby things you see at supermarkets lol. Love my flares with heels!!!
I love the wide leg jeans you were wearing around minute 9:15 of the video when you were outside on a patio. I didn't see a reference to what brand they were. Would love to know! Thanks
You can always take your jeans to a taylor or the dry cleaners to have the hem altered to fit your preferred length. I've been having mine altered since I was 13 yrs old. It only costs a few bucks. I pay between $4 and $10 depending on the type of stitch needed. Machine or blind stitch will be different in price normally.
in the early 2000s 5 ft 2 in Shakira had even long legged girls like me wanting the Way Too Long flare jeans. great tips as always I look much more polished regardless of inseam
I take all my jeans to the tailor and say 29 inches. When I want them above my ankle it’s 27 inches. I always use a Tailor when I buy pants. I buy petite but not all of them are the right links.
Hi, Dear Chi, I was waiting for your video like a kid waiting for a candy🙂 Congrats for this excellent video as usual your videos are amazings. You pinpoint great advices. I'm 5.2" as well, and just like you I use the same step to helping me to get high stuffs😉 Many thanks⚘
As a pear shaped woman it has been said boyfriend and skinny jeans are not recommended for me. However, the shorter length of them appeals to me as a busy Mom. My weekday uniform shoe would be sneakers. If I want to do an ankle length with sneakers given my body shape which style should I shorten to ankle length: bootcut, flare, straight, or wide leg?
I'm 5'1" flair and bootcut have been my go to forever. I've tried skinny Jean's on but my ankles are so narrow it always looks like I'm walking on toothpicks
My ankles aren’t especially fat but they have always been on the thicker side so anything I can do to make them appear narrower is a good thing for me! I really like the 7/8 length skinny jeans. Funny we’re all so different.
Your body type, shape and size is almost exactly like mine. Our shoe sizes are similar. Can I have your hand me downs? Haha I love your style and you give the best advice for my size and shape.
I agree, cropped flares are the worst for us shorties! I can’t wear heels over 2&3/4”, and my inseam is about 26.5”, so 28-29” is about as long as I can handle. Annoyingly, most “short” jeans are between 30-33”. I hate it when I have to shorten pants, I tend to just make raw hems with scissors on any jeans or other casual pairs. I have two new pairs of “dress trousers”, I will have to hem them 1” shorter, what a hassle. But, if they drag on the floor, the hems get trashed in just a few wearings.
I not only have short legs but short arms as well,🤣 but hate heels & wedges. I only like flats or very low heel (not comfortable and not practical at all! ) Oh yes! Great video by the way!. Thanks for the very detailed info and visual. Us petite women appreciate all your amazing content. Thank you so much🙃 Also,I love your home decor, style, color, all of it!❤❤❤❤❤
The struggle is real because I have so many useless pair of jeans I ordered online and they're supposed to be petite but they're too long! I'm tired on hemming ☹️
Hahaha we got in common shorties in the kitchen.I wear those boot cut jeans + high heels when going out with friends.I hope the restrictions stop out there. What you mean with yolk ? I like all videos and live in Scandinavia my friend !
I think the long flare and boyfriend jeans look the most flattering on you. I don't like boyfriend jeans on me but they make you look cool and youthful.
I cannot wear crop flares either! Just awful. I love your lip color. Do you mind if I ask what color/brand? I have similar skin coloring and it looks flattering on you. Thanks!
I am 5' and I wear anyhow. I usually don't care if people dislike my style. I can see people looking at me with their eyes sideways 😁( so not fashionable). All your ideas are good. On rare occasions(like once or twice a year)when I want to look good I do put some thoughts before wearing anyhow😁.
Such a good presentation on length! Personally I feel one of the first considerations in purchasing jeans are the dimensions of the back and front rise. If it is incorrect, no matter what style length is worn, the jeans will not look as though they fit correctly.
Thank you for another great video! I always look forward to when you post another video. Where did you get that blue off the shoulder top? It's gorgeous.😊
Thank you so much Katherine! That was from KD Dance, a brand inspired by dancer clothes -made in Brooklyn and a shop in Soho, NYC. I have them in 3 different colors!
Great job! I’m 5’3” with a short waist and comparatively longer legs. So I always wind up having to get a regular size to get the rise correct. Lots of hemming... The worst thing for me as a petite is short arms! BTW, I have those step stools all over my house LOL!
Your detailed information is so helpful for reference. I'm 5.4'' but yet my inseam is only 0.5'' longer so i've been able to measure as opposed to just giving us your height.
I would love to be as tall as you. I'm 4'11. When I was young my dad wouldn't buy me shoes unless they were heals. I do bootcut jeans all the time now with my cowboy boots.
I keep most of my jeans a date night length as I'm only 5 foot. I tend to buy two of the same and tailor the other one to wear with flat shoes. Most of my jeans are also boot cut.
The forever 21 jeans are a horrible cut, ugly styling and I don’t think they would look good on anyone but all of your tips are great. Thank you from 5’1”
I appreciate your videos so very much! Do you think the NYDJ Easy Fit Skinny Petite Jeans might be okay for a 5' person? Also wanted to say I appreciate how you link to the items, or give a similar style link!
Honestly, if you can find properly fitted petite sizes, we can wear any style. The problem isn't necessarily the style but that things like where the flare starts, where the distressing is in relation to the parts of your leg, ratio of flare to length, width compared to length in straight and wide leg styles, etc in nonpetite sizing is wrong for us shorties and if you're short enough even petite sizes are wrong. We don't just need regular sizes with a few inches off the bottom, unless you are short but have long legs.
