The problem with this movie... No JCVD. No dance scene in Thailand. = a meh movie. You need JCVD with his headbutt lump on his head. He's worked on that. That's the kill spot. 🤣
@@Jayphil1 Yup, a terrible movie made buy guys who tried but had no money or clue what they were doing is a million times better than a movie with a budget by a man who doesn't give a shit.
I watched this film in London at a bar that hosted an event called “crap film night.” Watched it with about 150 people all cry laughing at how mental it all was. Made it even better 😂
I got in trouble for watching this when I was younger because my mom walked in on the scene of them in the restaurant. No nudity, no innapropriate scenes but because of how badly it was made and acted. My mom literally thought I was watching a porno
Fun Fact: The actor Joe (Matt Hannon) said in a interview that after they had filmed about half the scenes for Samurai Cop, the director said they were going to scrap the project. Matt then talked to his agent and he was advised to scrap the Fabio hair style so he cut his hair. Then the director then has a change of heart and now wants to finish filming the whole movie. That's the reasoning behind the use of the wig.
I heard that he lost his incredible acting talent, when got his haircut and immediately gained 300lb's. So they decided to use a mannequin doll and stopmotion for the remainder of the movie. Nobody noticed, even though it was watched by more than 30 people, when it was shown in the cinemas!
13:44 Gerald Okamura (Fuj Fujiyama) actually was a third generation Japanese American that worked for the City of Los Angeles Rent Control Office, where he worked as an investigator in cases involving abusive landlords. He was also famous in his office for his extravagant mullet, which is how he got cast in this film. The producer was apparently eating at a restaurant near Okamura's office in downtown LA, and spotted him walking down the street, and ran out and convinced him to star in his movie. And he didn't speak a word of Japanese.
Gerald Okamura is actually the bald martial arts guy in the black shirt first seen at 1:07. He was also the stunt coordinator. He's a pretty prolific stuntman and has been in a ton of much better movies than this.
Gerald Okamura is my Moms neighbor, in Carson California, I know his daughters and me and my old roommate would go to his Dragon Fest, where it would be people from all kinds of martial arts films. He is the bald guys, are you joking? He makes weapons and has been in a bunch of Film and Television.
@Itachi Uchiha Best motion picture Best Performance in a Motion Picture: Drama and musical/comedy categories Best screen play and best director Lost out to the corrupt panel at the Oscars, though, as out for justice, it was released in the same year. Ironically, an INjustice
@@gertpacu3926 - Miami Connection! WOW! I totally forgot about that fantastic stinker of a movie! Thank God for the internet, I doubt I would be able to find a copy nowadays. Heck, even back when it came out it would be difficult.
Fun fact: the makers didn't have a permit to shoot the car chase scene, so they had to stick to the speed limit. Quite a lot of scenes were shot without a permit actually.
In one of the car chase shots you can see the freeway in the background and it's obvious they sped the video up since they all look like they're going 120+
You have to watch the interviews with the actors about the movie. The director was crazy, the shoot was crazy - so the actors made the best out of this experience by having fun and not taking anything serious anymore, as everybody knew the movie would be a disaster
@@donaldhysa4836 the line was fine, but him looking into the camera was over the top, but I love it. However a good director probably would have done a retake lol
@@amitypredator9385 director was nuts. But man knew how to make bank. Can’t remember how, but he made a living making these terrible movies and selling them direct to video in places like Poland.
The writer/director is an Iranian immigrant who knew a little English and knew little of American culture and jokes. The actor playing Frank is so frustrated with the little dialogue to say, he’s mostly instructed to make faces and reaction, he then decided to add some more lines to say. Even the kissing of the Chief’s head is an improv.
7:40 "They completely forgot about the briefcase full of Cocaine." they didn't forget, the producers hurried it off screen and took care of it expeditiously 🥳
I think the scene where the fake cleaner sneaks a huge dude with a katana into the room inside of a tiny garbage container to decapitate the burn victim is my favorite movie scene of all times, because it makes so much more sense then any other movie scene ever made. It's the most ingenious plan ever to kill an already unconscious witness in a hospital room guarded by a cop who gets dressed for duty in the morning by his blind grandmother. This whole movie is also proof that everyone at 1980's and 1990's movie sets was doing way too much cocaine.
Imagine failing so much as a movie that people still talk about the movie 40 years later to the point that it becomes a reference. It's not so much a failure then.
The last shot of the burn patient at the s end of the fire shows his face and head untouched. At the glorified dental office his head is covered with bloody towels. I’m assuming the head injuries happened on the way to the dental office. But no IV, no oxygen, no heart monitor etc. I guess they knew they were going to chop off his head so why bother. Also the first time I’ve seen the hospital trash can switcher wearing a pretend lab coat.
When You say he has the craziest mood swings, there's a backstory to that scene. According to the guy who plays the samurai cop, his partner, the black guy, kissed the actor on the head. It wasn't planned. So he yells at them to leave. The director just left the camera going. The laugh after they leave is the actual actors response. Just wild.
😂 this was comedy, but I lost it at “how are they even talking to her, they don’t have radios” and “why is there a burn victim right next to a dentist” unreal
I've been binging your content for the past few hours and I have stomach cramps from non stop laughing.....your voice is perfect for movie breakdowns and your narration is fu*king hilarious.....this is the best channel I've come across in a long time
Fun fact: The Redhead Henchwoman/Large man smuggler was in many Star Trek TNG episodes. She was also in Generations and First Contact. She appeared in a total of 43 TNG episodes and 2 movies and survived through all of it.
I think I've watched each and every single one of your videos at least ten times. Many days your channel is on auto-play. The jokes never gets old, even when you know the joke is coming. I've watched many of these movies growing up and I have to say.... it's not the same movie I remember. Many other channels review the same movies, but your review/jokes takes the cake. This channel has gotten me through some tough times recently. "I'm going to be honest with you, I think they got the wrong van", always gets me.
Watch the 30th anniversary, or some shit, interview with Matt Hannon. Man is still a god. Still rocking that glorious, glorious hair-do. Still buff. He gives a lot of being the scenes details. Like how they needed more footage, months after the close of shooting, and Matt had cut his hair, for some reason. So they found that ridiculous wig, and said fuck it, let’s do it.
The director decided halfway through filming to just scrap the whole movie so matt hannon cut his hair, then the director all of sudden had a change of heart and wanted to finish it so matt had to wear a wig
This movie and review was as good as your Seagal classics which are top notch. A lot of people seem to know this movie. I never heard of it but I actually loved the jokes you highlighted, and I found Joe and Frank to be endearing characters. This was fun!
That driver had his mustache burned clean off, pretty gruesome. Also that decapitation was technically done with a "wakizashi", it means really short Japanese sword.
The lionhead had me laugh out loud. I needed this. Usually these videos are humorous background videos for work, but this one requires and deserves full attention.
My girlfriend took me to watch a stupid chick flick. I told her, I am picking the next movie. So chose this. Halfway through she was like "HOW CAN YOU MAKE ME WATCH THIS?" My oh my! Revenge is really sweeeeeeeet
Your narration makes your videos very rewatchable lol. I was sad when I finished every video you made so I'll just watch them all again while I wait for new ones. Thanks Space Ice.
11:10 I choose to believe that the actor broke character because how ridiculous the scene was, and everyone else was onboard on how nonsense the movie is so they deliberately left the blooper in.
Dude, you're one of the best/funniest movie reviewers, and I'm thoroughly enjoying your reviews! I just can't believe you didn't mention the red paint balls they were shooting at the guy. They were flying everywhere! lol
This is the greatest movie ever. I so love it. Seen it like a million times. So many favorite parts. Especially the chase scene wow. Thanks for reviewing it! Such a bad good movie up there with THE WICKER MAN and JAWS 4 Segall movie! BTW: His hair was messed up bc they had to reshoot and the actor had shaved his head so they used that awful wig for the resorts. Awedome.
That's the kind of thing that made me do this as a list instead of a recap. It's so jam packed with ridiculousness, the video would be twice as long as the movie
Siskel and Ebert ain't got nothing on you Space Ice, your clear and concise review of this movie had me running to Blockbuster to before this flick sold out
I've watched this movie, beginning to end 3 times and it's so bad it's good. I tried watching the sequel but couldn't get into it. What makes it so good is the director Amir. He was deceased so couldn't do the sequel.
I watched a couple of your other videos. Oh my goodness, I am howling at them. I’ve been binge watching for a while now. Great work. And, by the way, the RU-vid algorithm recommended your vid to me. So, hopefully soon you will start to see more traffic for your fantastic channel.
Great video, and thank you for the honesty about martial arts it's so rare and refreshing rather than the fake machismo and obvious lies and exaggerations of so many channels.
His hair was different near the end of the movie because they had to do re-shoots after the movie wrapped, but "Joe" had cut his hair for another project. So, he had to wear a wig to finish the shots.
...sick in bed with covid truly feeling like life sucks...and then I watch this and get the biggest laugh I have had in weeks...great job Space - you now have a new subscriber...👍🏽😎

I watched some interview with the actor who played samurai cop and the scenes where he is where the ridiculous hat on top of his mop of hair was a wig. They either had to redo or shoot entire new scenes after filming was done and the actor had already cut his hair. I love it It's so damn awful it's awesome. It's actually harder in my opinion to make a bad movie that is good because it's so bad, than to just make an average level movie. Bravo
The reason why the "officer" in the hospital is wearing a questionable policeman costume is according to an interview, the cast brought their own clothes, as a way to cut costs by the director, Amir Shervan.
