It's occurred to me that Michael Madsen could play Steven Segal in a biopic of Steven Segal.

When the movie was in theatres, a film critic mentioned Kingsley sitting on his throne with a pained expression on his face as he sinks his head into his hand. The critic said, you can almost hear Kingsley saying to himself, I’ve played Gandhi, I’ve won awards, why am I here?

I worked on an Uwe Boll movie . Funny enough , Billy Zane *and Kristanna Loken was on that one as well . My biggest recollection is constantly running out of fake blood . I would finish my squeeze bottle and before I could refill it , he would bellow out from his little director chair "more blood , we need more blood" . Dressed and prepped a particularly violent scene that took hundreds of retakes , eventually an art director called it out and said "this scene will never make it past the regulatory boards , let's just shoot it and go home" He got sent home , we kept on shooting ,and the scene was dropped in the final cut . 😆

Michael Madsen's "Whatever" response to being stabbed through the heart with a sword is pretty unique.

It's amazing how Boll can get such terrible performances out of such good actors

Fun Fact: Laura Bailey (Rayne’s VA from the games) hated this movie. In her own words from Boston Anime Convention 2007, “Oh God, that movie sucked. And that movie was so bad. I saw it on The Movie Channel and I couldn't even get through 20 minutes of it! It was so bad and it was kinda sad that they took that because I really liked the games.”

Billy Zane's wig absolutely screams quality and high budget.

I wonder why we never got an Boll/Seagal-collaboration. Maybe one of them was worried about his reputation.

First of all, all appearances by Billy Zane are "special". Coming out of the gate with a home run on this one, Space.

Love Ben Kingsley's very deliberate non-performance. He stated in an interview that he signed up without having read the script or looked into the director's previous work. He made a "juvenile decision" (his words) to star as a Vampire overlord because he had always wanted to play a head villain in a Horror movie. But upon filming it became apparent to him he had made the biggest mistake of his career as Boll clearly had no idea how to direct actors or properly prep scenes. And as for the script? What script? It was being rewritten on a seemingly daily basis. Kingsley knew he couldn't pull out & lose a paycheque so he just did what was expected of him...READ HIS LINES...and he did so with zero emotion whatsoever! It was beautiful! 😅

That casual stab through the heart scene had me in tears

I watched this yesterday and i was continually amazed how literally every single scene in this movie is bad. Every single one. There's never once that moment where you think, hey, at least that was kind of cool. It hits the bottom of the suck barrel within the first ten seconds and never gets back out.

The Sun was so embarrassed to be in this movie it tried to hide behind a cloud ☁️

So, in this universe where there's vampires that are dissolved by water, I assume there's 0% humidity in the air? Uwe Boll's world-building is just perfect!

I'm pretty sure when the trailer first aired in a theatre and the audience saw "Billy Zane, Michael Madsen and Michelle Rodriguez", the audience burst out laughing.

The cute little axe thing is actually one of the most accurate parts, it's still pretty wildly inaccurate because of how silly that particular double axe looks, but axes used in combat historically are actually quite small, their only purpose is to crack a skull open and as such are closer to picks in size and purpose. It's the same kind of thing with "war hammers", they aren't these huge unwieldy items, they are designed for one specific task, of breaking through a helmet (or armor in general) and opening a skull (or generally breaking bones), and the smaller the better when it comes to swinging at a person trying to kill you's head. But I digress, and also I swear I'm not a serial killer this was just something I picked up while researching real world history.

I do understand now why some actors dont watch their own movies.

I remember when Uwe Boll was rumored to direct the first Silent Hill movie. The uproar was historic.

Billy Zane is one of those guys who had more success being a caricature of themselves than being a serious actor. While he and Will Wheaton were forced into it, guys like Adam West were born for it.

That fight scene breakdown had me crying, especially the adorable axe. Love your work. Thanks for watching this. The game was so-so. Edit: I had to add Madsen's death stare. Top notch acting.

I remember this movie being so bad that critics HAD to ask how voice actress of RAYNE in games felt like. She was extremely sad of how it turned out. Imagine Game developers. No wonder we did not get a BLOOD RAYNE 3 😂😂😂

I love the whole monk face bashing. How unnecessary it was and how they just accepted it after. She couldn't have just knocked him out for a bit, had to go instantly with the morning star to the face.

Madsen was actually completely wasted through the whole filming lol he didn't want to do the part so tried to get booted out by drinking the whole time and they still made him do it lol

The pain Uwe causes to his viewers. He is pure evil to be able and willing to cause the hurt and anguish every film. He boxed some critics but they were just trying to warn others

I feel obliged to state something here: - This "OTHER" guy many of you want an apology for, was actually not German, but Austrian. These cursed Austrians just tricked everyone thinking that he was German. Now everyone hates us for him, but not these crooked Austrians. 😬 - Yes, the whole story of Uwe is actually about "stupid German money", I agree. We could have spend this money on other, better things.

i actually saw this in the theaters. i feel ashamed.

Writer Guinevere Turner alleged that director Uwe Boll called her and screamed at her when she was writing the first draft of the script, and demanded she hand it in. She gave him the first draft the following week to get notes... and was shocked to learn that Boll was immediately going into production with her first draft without any rewriters. Turner later learned after filming that Boll and the cast rewrote most of the script on-set, and that the finished film was nothing like her drafts.

The Billy Zane thing is really weird. They either forgot about him or he was set up for a sequel. Only it got TWO sequels and he never comes up

In fairness the "tiny" ax is actually about the right size for a combat weapon. It's not an oversized fantasy chuck of metal, nor quite a double-sided wood ax that would be too heavy for battle. Realism in the terrible vampire flick? Yeah, weird. Also Ben Kingsley admitted in an interview that he only took the job because he wanted to play a vampire and dress up with the fangs. So you know what, RESPECT. For every one else this was a paycheck. Cocaine does not buy itself.

Here's an interesting story. I worked as a projectionist at a movie theater. One night I was just about to start the last movie on my list as soon as it started I went downstairs to talk to the managers. As I was conversing with the manager a customer came up to us as asked "is the movie going to start?" I realized I still had one movie left on my list and it was 30 mins late to start. and the movie I forgot to start was BloodRayne.

They gave Michael Madsen a wig, but kept the receding hairline

I really don’t understand how Madsen was getting so many roles back then. Dude is the laziest actor not named Steven Segall. I recently saw Species and the way he was carrying or even using his firearm was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen. Dude was holding that thing like it was a goddam toy.

Fun fact: A friend of mine lived next door to Kristanna Loken in Burbank, CA early 2000s. He said she was always nice and really friendly. That is all.

Killing the survivors and cutting off the heads of a vampire attack DOES make sense in that anyone who was attacked but survived might turn into a vampire later. BUT I doubt that the movie explains that.

Remembering watching it for the first time. For an hour I tried to find some secret in the movie I was missing, thinking it's not possible for movie to be this bad, had to be some purpose, especially with that cast. Lol was I wrong.

Meat Loaf had a pretty sweet setup in that temple-castle-thing, though. I admit, 0 for guard quality, but 10 for piles of sexy naked female vampires. And those blue-blocker stained glass windows were a clever idea.

To be fair, the girl who played Rayne was pretty easy to look at.

I remember when this was first coming out. The movie theater had a big standee for it. Then all of the sudden the standee was gone and the movie never came to any of the theaters in the area. I rented it months later and couldnt get through Michael Madsen giving the most 'phoned in' performance I had ever seen. Especially the part where he is trying to trick the prison guard by saying his friend is gone. Just terrible delivery. Years later I saw they actually made a sequel. As well as 2 sequels for Boll's in the name of the king.

I remember my dad borrowed this movie VCD from the local disc shop. We were watching this before dinner. It was so horrible we decided to continue the second half after food which none of us mentioned ever since. That was when this movie came out on disc. Man it was cringe.
