Found this video just in time. 5'1", short torsoed, large hipped bride-to-be about to begin the search for my wedding dress. Taking note of your tips, especially about backless styles (never even occurred to me but yeah, that could be challenging) and about how hard it is to raise the waist of a style with a defined waistline.
Short torso big hips here! I got married in 2014 and my dress was actually extremely similar to your dress. Loved mine and love yours too! I had diagonal ruching and a dropped waist. I would be a lot more conscious knowing what I know how in picking a dress but I still loved it and loved that it was light weight for my summer wedding. 💗 thank you for your content! It was changed the way I see and appreciate my body.
I was married in 2014 too! Your dress sounds lovely. Thank you for sharing how my content has impacted you. I’m so happy to have helped in such a way!! 💝
great tips! So true! short torso girl over here (and narrow shoulders). Had mine custom made, bateau neckline with "wings", mermai/sheath style. Super simple...WISH I could do all the low plunge stuff out there, but it looked ridiculous. I didn't even wear heels, because it made my legs look even longer and thus the torso was much too short.
Short waisted lady here. I ended up going with a A--line/ballgown style wedding dress. Reason being, it has a short bodice that excentuated my waist without drawing attention to little extra weight.
Thank you so much Rachel! I remember being indecisive before during and after it all, but I was happy with my pick in the end. It can be hard to pick when there are so many different beautiful dresses out there!
Darn! I already spent a lot of money on a backless, deep V neck wedding dress😢 highly the alterations will improve the waist situation. Maybe I should consider a second dress for the reception featuring a halter..
Jules, I had almost exactly the same wedding dress as you ! I'm tall 5.9 but also short torsoed. When I bought it , 10 years ago, I had no idea I had a short torso but I guess it was intuition :)
That’s awesome!! You liked it on you and that was what was important. It’s one of the only times I’ve recommended a drop waist for short torsos because the ruching camouflages it! You have great taste! 😉
your dress looked amazing and of course you did too! I am watching this video despite being already married lol. I had a very traditional wedding dress (it was green with golden embroidery and beads and long train - might sound weird, but this is traditional in the Arabian peninsula). the shape was a long A-line with a belt and 3/4 sleeves. This all would have made me look like I have no torso (I am tall, skinny with a short torso, long legs and long arms), but there was a simple trick - the dress was layered, so the top layer ended way above my ankles with heavy embroidery, while the second layer reached all the way to the floor. this somehow made my body look proportional.
Great video! It's especially challenging since I want an A-line gown. I'm going for a modified A-line (no belt!!) Or a dropped waist style, which unfortunately isn't very popular right now
High neck trumpet is the style I'd love to go for when I go looking for my wedding dress. I'm 4'9 and have less than two inches between my ribs and my wide hips. My legs are only 2ft long and Im so nervous that finding a dress that makes me look taller could potentially backfire and make me look wide!
I had strapless dress and I was fat I regret soooo much my arms look so ugly that was 15 years ago .planning to get married by church soon definitely I be getting a better dress. Have hourglass Shape
Looking back in my pictures, I noticed times when I kept my arms too close to my body. I don’t like how critical of myself I can still be even looking back on images of happy memories. I’m sure you looked beautiful 🤩💞
Girl ANYTHING is possible! This sounds like you could make it work but I can’t say I’ve seen it before to know how easy it will be (easy/difficult is not the same as good/bad) ❤️
