the best thing about baking for yourself is you get to adjust certain ingredients to your liking. like sugar for instance. pie looks great guys!!! gives me motivation to try a pie for the 1st time, it's on my list :)

If you don't want the crust to shrink as much, don't trim it right away. After you add the top crust, you want about 0.5-1" overhang (only trim as needed to make it as even as possible all the way around). Then fold/tuck the crust under itself to create a thicker edge. You can crimp it with a fork or make flutes using your thumb on one hand and index and thumb on the other hand. This will also help the top and bottom crust stick together better.

Get a dough blender/cutter tool. It’ll make incorporating the butter with the dough easier than the fork. Or freeze the butter and grate it into small pieces and freeze it again until ready to use. Turned out great. Love a flaky crust
