I bought a 7500 years ago. As a homeowner with a 3000 sf lawn, it’s total overkill and I don’t care. I’d had enough with all those Home Depot junk blowers. I’m a Redmax fan for life, which is probably about how long i’ll own mine. 👍. Keep on keeping on Paul.
I've got a small yard and am planning to get the 7500 next month. I've considered them all, BR600, PB770T, and I think the 7500 checks all the boxes. No need for anything bigger, and the 7500 will be overkill, and that's fine.
I know this is a few years ago but I appreciate your point of view on the Red Max equipment. Looking at the new Red Max EBZ 9000 which apparently should show up any time. I have run the STIHL 4 Mix equipment for years and I am looking at trying something new.
Danger Will Rogers! LMAO! You look like a robot in some of those scenes showing the mobility of the tube. Great review Paul, lots of great points in this vid and comparisons to Redmax competitors. Love your vids brother, Always makes me laugh! Peace and God's Love! Chad Upstate NY
Over time using the Zenoah 8550, I added both a waist and chest strap. I find to advantage. Love the left hand control as well that flips down. I took out the screen under the muffler cover plate that has the holes in it. The screen is real fine mesh, so I like to think that the engine breathes better without it and maybe runs cooler. Just like I've done with my chainsaws, my part of the world has no regulation about not removing the screens.
Yes I went down the stihl wormhole and after years of giving stihl a chance to build them different I changed back to the tried and true redmax. I never have to do any maintenance anymore but air/ fuel filters
I’ve got a Redmax trimmer that’s probably 15 years old. Still runs like a champ. I’m still running a EB7001 blower. Awesome machines. Wouldn’t have anything else
Good video, thanks. No Redmax where I reside in Asia, I buy Zenoah (same company). I recently purchased their 33cc brush cutter, maybe not available in the states. I love the power and with a good harness, not the cheapo one that came with it, the added weight isn`t a big concern. Interestingly it has a float carburetor, and the way they get around the potential problem of the float not being level if you tilt the engine, is by having the shaft down to the cutter rotate independently from the engine, so the engine stays pretty much in fixed position. You also aren`t dealing with the weight of the engine when you twist the shaft. Very innovative I think, and the float carburetor gives very smooth performance without the need for any adjustment.
Best backpack blowers period I've been running one commercially for a little over twenty years with just basic maintenance and still going strong. I also own a pair of hedge trimmers that are just as old and no problems with it yet other than a Sharpe that I just did this year!
Hey Paul!!! I run an ECHO PB 8010... BEASTLY!!!! Would be curious as to a comparison of the two. Leaves run from me when I step onto the property... Later bro...
If you are out there blowing at night lol, you would hope they can hear you long before they get close enough to see the reflective sticker I have a shindaiwa eb633rt blower that is designed almost exactly the same as that redmax, very functional design (mine only 63.3cc) - that machine is one of the best tools I ever bought it is indeed a “true 2 stroke”. 10 years and many many hours, use ultra 93 fuel, 50:1 mixed with red armor oil -very impressive machine
A buddy of mine owns a landscape company and he said “get the EBZ8500 and it will change your life” lol. I bought one 2 1/2 years ago and ohhhhh myyyyyyy goddddddd. Love it !!!!! Great stuff. Love your videos !
i have had several issues with EBZ8500 not being able to suck sufficient fuel up to carb. Blower stutters and gurgles and will not run at speed. Starts fine. I have made a dual fuel filter setup and will see if that solves the problem. Fuel filters are not dirty, just extremely hard to suck fuel through after about 6 weeks.
Check the fuel lines and primer bulb for cracks. Pull the spark plug and clean it. Check the spark arrestor screen. Clean it if needed. Clean the pre filter in the air box with soapy water and let it dry. As a last resort take the carb off and clean it. easy.
😀ha! I was just thinking of doing a video on our blowers today 🤦♂️ We have the 8500 and 8550. The main difference that I've noticed is that the 8500 works better for breaking up stuff that is wet and matted down. It disperses debri better for me but, the 8550 seems to move debri further in a more narrow straight path where the 8500 spreads out and not so directional. I still love my old 10 year old 8500😎👍
@@4riverslawncaretx396 I had a 7500 and it was pretty good but, I actually like 6500 better. It's an all around great blower but, if you want a blower for mostly leaves, I'd recommend the 8500 or 8550 😉
I've been a Shindiawa man for last 20 years, but I have heard real good things about RedMax. Thanks for review! Quick unrelated question... I think I just sent a burmuda lawn into early dormancy by spraying a mix of Prodiamine (.4oz/1000ft) and Trimec Southern (.75oz/1000ft) on it last Thursday. I think what happened was we hadn't had any rain to speak of the last 10 days prior to the application. Customer called and said i turned her lawn brown. Recogn i did any permanent damage? Hopefully it will come back next Spring! Thanks Paul
I buy 6. 8550 every 2 years. We put a lot of hours on them , sell used ones with no problem for 2/3 the cost of new . We buy them with left side hip throttle more durable
I’m actually not a Redmax guy. I’m also not an Echo or Stihl guy because I learned that the Echo, Stihl, and Redmax gas tools are known to be very expensive! I like Craftsman and Troy-Bilt gas hand held tools with the exception of riding lawnmowers. Both Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, and even Bolens gas powered hand held tools are less expensive for me to buy at the closest Lowe’s home improvement store. If anything I would have to make arrangements to have Echo and Stihl sponsor me as I am a lawn care professional myself!
I'm thinking to buy an 8550 to replace my echo 8010T and then buy my wife a 7500 for leaf season this year. Still using the stihl 600 for them little bs work.
Sthil BR - 600 10 yrs old ( flawless! Husqvarna 580 BTS flawless too. Using the Sthil BR - 800X also ! They all are good for sure. Keep your Maintenance and they all are good. Personal preference.
I buy cheap Stens mix by the gallon and use 89 octane fuel. Never a problem in 22 years. All I use is either Redmax or Echo/Shindaiwa. And am slowly moving away from Echo. The Redmax blower has a better tube, straps, and fasteners than the Echo.
That’s good to know. I think if you roll through your fuel quickly it’s not as important to use high octane .... if you store your mix for any amount of time it seems to go to crap
@@PaulsPrimeCuts Thanks I just received that one the other day!!! I guess me and you are on the same page mentality but I’m still learning from you about making my Zoysia (Z52) the best in the neighborhood. Thanks for your reply. Alabama
Hey Paul: I have a Honda HRX217 lawnmower question. It’s burning oil so bad I have to add a 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil after mowing 4 lawns, it also smokes. What could be the issue?
I haven`t fired it up yet, but I have a pretty new EZ8550 sitting in my house. Thanks for your recommendations! Something that has me wondering and wanting your advice, is that the user manual says to replace the paper filter when it needs to be cleaned. I`m not so keen on that approach, having to buy those things every time when dirty. Do you clean the paper filter, and if so, how? Thank you.
I take mine out and blow it out gently/carefully with compressed air, always keep it clean - I have only replaced it twice in ten years and it gets ALOT of use
It’s too bad that the heads leak on the thing I have seven of them and for blow up after a year thinking about switching to Ecco once they replace the blocks under warranty you do not get another two years and that sucks
Dang that doesn’t sound good this one will be my 5th Redmax blower and the other crew that runs out of the shop has 10 or 12 of em ... we haven’t had any major issues
I have the Husqvarna 580 bts and it's a fantastic machine, as far as I know Husqvarna bought Redmax out so they are pretty much the same machines. Wouldn't swap my 580bts for anything!!
@@tgsgardenmaintenance4627 I had I guy from England work me some this summer... I picked up some phrases... but not that one .... the North Carolina heat just about wasted Mr Speight 😂
I use redmax equipment exclusively! The only reason people run into problems #1 crap 2 smoke oil #2 letting crap ethanol gas sit in tank #3 zero or no maintenance! Take spark arrestor screen out and guard off trimmers! I run small engine vp racing fuel 50:1 blowers, trimmers, edgers and polesaw 10 plus years zero mechanical issues!
@@PaulsPrimeCuts not that I'm aware of....I've had such bad luck with hand-held equipment due to the heat I believe,I'm ready to try something else.Ive heard nothing but good about that brand.
Everybody loves their new stuff, but I'm more impressed with the beat to hell ones on your rack still rockin and rollin. Are those trimmers basically husqvarnas?
tubby time those trimmers are pre husqvarna buy out. I haven’t looked at any recent husqvarna trimmers to see who’s making them but the husky blowers look like Redmax is making those for them
Husqvarna and Redmax are not the same trimmer. My neighbor runs Husqvarna and I run Redmax. They're different. They share some of the same accessories, but they're different. Husqvarna took some parts from Redmax when they bought them out, but the Redmax is still all Redmax.
I get mine at Wollett Small Engine in Red Oak NC ... but they have a dealer network all over the country... look at the Redmax website and see if they have a dealer locater
I’ve had them all, and all have held up well. I guess it just comes to preferences. I also use mine on my poultry farm to blow out the barns after each flock, when I blow out I run the fans to suck out the dust. Another reason I like the sthil is the exhaust fumes that follow you as you move down the barn aren’t as bad as the 2 strokes. The echo shocks the crap out of me sometimes when it’s dry 😂 but I still love that blower
Hey Paul I'm curious about your shop setup. Noticed some mowers that aren't yours in there. You sharing that with another lawncare guy. Give us a tour when you can
I had 2 sthil Br600s when they first came out they lasted about a season and a half.... I just didn’t have very good luck with my sthil equipment.... that being said, I have some sthil saws that you couldn’t kill with a nuclear bomb
*Redmax could've made a bigger engine for the 8550 instead of using the same 75.6cc engine from the old reliable 8500. The EPA actually has the CC limit for backpack blowers set at 79.9cc so redmax left over 4CC on the table with the old 75.6cc engine as opposed to building a 79.9cc engine for the 8550.*
I guess they are holding back that little bit of displacement to give us something to look forward to. I can tell you that after running this several weeks it’s getting a good bit stronger
I see you said you had 2 stolen blowers.Major problem here in NY, guys literally roaming neighborhoods stealing equipment all day. Consider putting GPS trackers on equipment and easy to rotate Gps trackers and take them off heavy equipment at night and onto small during day. Redmax is a great blower but they de burn out in 2 years of heavy use. Echo 801 is hands down best blower ever made and you are spit on Stihl will fall apart
Only problem - ya find the thief and blower, and he just claims "I bought from a guy off of Craigslist, didn't get his name, never saw him again." You just about have to catch a thief in the act, unfortunately.
beware, i have a husvarna 50cc , barely made it 4 years, go with echo and it will always crank easier and faster , regardless of maintenance, and last longer, bougth a brand new husvarna weedeater, and used it only a few times, got it out the next spring , never would run correctly, bought a new carburetor on it,,,,ran good 3 times and started same old lemon behavior, these things are garbage, and maybe some of you have been lucky , but avoid husvarna like the plague, i truly used to believe in them, but i dont know, i also bought a husvarna lawn mower at the same time as all the others, nothing but problems with the deck, engine has been good , but its a briggs and stratton that came in it
@@PaulsPrimeCuts had 2 before strato charged and they were ok I guess 3 that were strato charged and they put a carb on one and coil on another still wouldn't run so literally throwed them away
@@mikeblank7165 thanks... I don’t take this utube stuff too seriously... check out some more videos on the channel there may be one that’s worth watching.
