In NY we fish water from 38 degrees up to the mid 80s. At all times, one of my rods has a jig set up on it. But no mater what anyone says, jigs can and do collect weeds. I don’t care how “stiff” the weed guard is. So to combat the weeds, I will change to a 4 or 5 inch double tail/skirted grub, Texas rigged with 1/2 oz tungsten flippin weight. Comes through the heavy weeds and brush better then any jig with a weed guard. And it’s still very effective. Just my 2 cents.
I have also caught a ton of giant bass in cypress stumps with a wee craw, but the hooks are so small compared to a big basses lip , it’s hard to hook them in the right spot

I have three...with these you can catch bass anywhere, ANYWHERE in the country. Black and blue jig (your choice of head/trailer...I like 1/4oz, myself), green pumpkin 6” senko, weightless fluke (sungill or shad color, depending on your forage). I throw all sorts of baits throughout the season but always have three rods dedicated to these three baits. They’re about as close to failsafe as it comes in bass fishing...
Stickbait. Works all the time, every time. Wacky rigged, neko rigged, topwater, texas rigged. Spring, summer, fall, winter, doesn't matter. If you could only have one bait forever, it'd be a green pumpkin senko.
it's also a hard one because for me I'd say it's a 3 way. obviously it's a seasonal so I'd say for almost year round I'd say a jig, summer into start of fall I'd say frog but then the one for spring through fall the senko. spring into winter senko and jig. obviously there are others but for me there are these 3 lures I will predominantly use. but my setup I grab 90%of the time is my medium heavy casting setup for my frogs, senko's, Texas rigs upto 5/8oz and with soft plastics it can add upto an ounce, weightless Texas rigs, jigs. so I feel it be the best setup and have 30lb braid to mono/fluoro leader and adjust according to lure used and cover you will be fishing. then if around heavy cover then bump up to heavy casting gear and if fishing finnesse lures and rigs I'll go to my spinning setup with 10lb braid and fluoro/mono leader to fish let's say drop shots, light shakey head rigs, small stick lures 3inch maybe 4 and then use smaller weighted poppers and small jigs upto a 1/4oz. etc. love the video.
I agree great tips Mike,I also like to use the senko as a stopper to.you can use a chartruse color in a little bit stained water to help it stand out a bit.thsnks again take care.

great video Ike! love your explanations, although maybe try NOT to wear a black shirt/jacket when you're demonstrating a black lure, lol. maybe do a little better lighting please. made it a little hard to see some of what you were trying to show. keep up with the in the shop, very informative stuff.
I'm not sure why, its possible I because of my love for power fishing, but u can't catch a dream fishing a jig or a worm...... I do slow it down, drag, pop or hop, just not sure what I'm doing wrong.....
Ooooooh damn..... Nah, I have to disagree with yaz Ike.... I said JIG as well.....but not a SKIRTED JIG........ But a TUBE JIG. A tube jig is without a DOUBT, the greatest and most versatile bass lure ever made. Not only that, but it really CAN be fished in any variable you throw at it. Top water??? Can your skirted jig sit on the surface? MmmmmNO. Come on IKE......I DESERVE A LIKE HERE!!!
I don't get this whole premier deal either. I don't think it generates any more interest. I'd like to see the metrics on that and see what kind of affect it has.....for a viewer though....nah. Just want to see the content.
The website guy asked us to do Premieres so that they can get the video embedded on the website before it's released on RU-vid. Otherwise, it shows up as a "Video is Private" error on the website until we mark the RU-vid video as public.
Personally , I have caught some nice bass in late summer, when the bass were keyed in on frogs by intentionally casting a jig with a beaver tail type trailer on to the bank at the waters edge and ripping it across the top of the water making that trailer tail kick up a lot of water , the bass nail it like a buzz bait .
