This hiking trip was planned last minute and mainly to fill in an extra day during my trip while following the recommendations of a friend. It was an insanely good idea and left me wanting to explore more of the gorgeous area around Taylor Lake. The trailhead is located between Lake Louise & Banff on the west side of the highway facing the wonderful Castle Mountain and leads you 7km through extensively dense forest. Well defined trail with quirky stream crossings leads us to some amazing views of Taylor Lake and it's attached backcountry campground on the north east side of the lake. Tons of hiking opportunities lie from this sight and we took advantage of one of them which is exploring the Mount Bell forum where you will find O'Brien Lake. Another great location to scramble and explore the mountains of Banff National Park.
