Best Beginner's Budget Hatchback? 2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 Review - Amazing Value And Fun! 

Hope you enjoy the new Corsa :) But yes I have to say I think you may have over paid quite a bit on that at £3000 :(

You overpaid quite a lot. Can get a 2012 model for £2500

Astra is MUCH better than a Corsa, but you can't compare the cars, made for a different market/ place where they're supposed to drive (had a 2014 Astra 1.7 diesel. a total rocket, now a 2015 1.4 non turbo petrol Corsa, a big come down, but I don't drive a lot anymore working from home.)

It's pretty perfect as a 1st car, or if you're on a budget and need a good reliable (cheap to run) car :)

I think you did pretty well with that - and of course the Turbo Diesel is going to feel a bit quicker ;)

I would love to try an Auction TBH< but the closest One to me seems to have a pretty bad reputation for selling old dogs that fall apart after a week lol

How is the fuel consumption on it. I am considering buying one for my wife. She is driving a Tata Indica now, also 1.4 engine but the fuel consumption of the Tata is working on my nerves. It's high I feel for a 1.4

Can't say much about the MPG as I didn't have it long enough to take it on a good run, but I imagine if you drive it sensible then the MPG should be pretty good, my lastest car (1.6 Astra Petrol) is awesome on fuel!

Yeah I often sleep in the boot, that's why I mentioned it - but seriously I think it was a slight slip in the script lol - I agree wrapping the centre console to match the doors is a nice idea BTW. and I remember smaller engines from the 80's being a lot faster than this little thing, or maybe I just used to drive them harder haha - thanks for the comments mate :)

I might be a little small and inderpowered for delivery work? It depends what you are delivering, bear in mind the added weight! I think you may be better getting a 1.6 Diesel?

Yeah that's my guess, it does look as though it was pushed in a bit, but no evidence of it under the car at all? not blowing, and not bent outta shape, so I still have no clue lol

Pound Beats it doesn’t no. You have to buy a stereo off amazon for about £20 and a kit off ebay to change it. Pretty simple tbh if you RU-vid it. Hope this helps!:)

My 1.4 sxi has a AUX input. It's directly in front of the gear stick

Servicing matters as much in my opinion, if it's been driven like a F1 car for the last 10 Years and nobody has changed the oil, then that's a problem, even if it's only done 50.000 Miles, but a car that's been well serviced and looked after, which has done 100.000 Miles can often be the better option. Remember though that after 80.000 Miles you need to consider things such as clutch and cam chain replacement, ,plus suspension components, not always, but worth considering with higher Mileage cars.

@@ToddSocks Yes. I bought a 5 year old corsa (a 2008 model) a few years ago with 30,000 miles. When i bought it it needed a water pump, timing chain (sounded like a tractor), and a new clutch, which was odd for a car of that mileage. At 35,000 miles the head gasket went. Got that fixed and at 45,000 miles the head gasket went again, and the timing chain was noisy again, got them fixed again and at 70,000 miles the head gasket went again along with something else I forgot about (it was a control module of some sort as the car's horns became erratic and would either turn itself on or kept staying on when the battery was connected) and gave up on the car. The car broke down a 7 or 8 times in my ownership. Along the way things which were meant to last a lifetime failed on the car such as the ABS pump. The radiator also kept leaking. Ended up selling it for £150. the car must've cost me excess of £5,000 in repairs for the five years I've had it. And before you say, I do look after and service my cars every 6 months. I'd never touch a Vauxhall again. I drive an older Mazda with more miles than the Corsa which I've had for the past few years and never missed a beat or broken down. I'll be sticking to Japanese cars from now on.

Highran56 damn sounds like yours rolled out on a Friday. Mines a 2010 and I’ve only ever needed to replace the brake pads and tires. It’s got about 140,000 miles so not bad for the mileage. Yeah a Mazda is always gonna be less of a risk than Vauxhall. I’m glad you’re happier with your new car, shame bout the 5k but hey ho.

@@ToddSocks with used cars its just luck sometimes. It was quite blatant that the previous owner didn't look after the car but I couldn't test it as I bought it from the auction.

@@Farley-zm7dj Camchain tensioners can be an issue on these older Corsa's. listen out for any rattles on cold start up. but generally a great litle budget freindly car :)

Yes I agree, the SXi and the SRi are both quite sporty, but of course then the running costs are higher, with this 1.4 you can make it look sporty, but still run it on a budget :)

Well the car is in Cornwall now, so I guess the sticker is OK. I do agree about the Silver paint on the rear drums, but they were so nasty looking, I had to do something about them? might just replace them next time though :)
