Recommendation for anyone new to boots, get a boot dryer! Keeps all the nasty stuff from festering in your sweaty boot, will allow them to last longer and will have them dry for the next ride!
Years ago I had my A Star Tech 8’s resoled and the company used Gaerne soles. Great quality. Currently have some SG12 LE’s still in the box from 2019. Bought for under $500. Should be great boots 👍
Good boots saved me a trip to the hospital yesterday, got to close to a little cotton mouth and he gave my boots a little kiss. We both went on our way unharmed.
My only complaint about a lot of these boots is the lack of any kind of pattern on the sole for traction. I get it, their meant for MX. But they just don't make trail boots that offer this much protection for trail use. And, dang, if you've ever dumped your bike in the mud on any kind of slope and had to try and get any kind of traction with these boots......you invent new 4 letter words.
@@DirtBikeChannel I leave mine on, and replace them when they ultimately disappear on a ride (which happens every 6 months or so). I find that if you happen to hit a rock with the front of the boot, having the metal toe cap, it tends to 'glance off' the rock, whereas with the softer rubber/leather/fabric front (without the toe cap), then tend to catch a little more. I just feel I'm less likely to get caught on something and also seem less likely to get injured since the boot tends to bounce off rocks more easily.
Lol. Dude. I totally wear ankle socks all the time in my boots. Sometimes I wear long socks, funny that you mentioned it. I’m not good enough to ride in anything better than Tech7s.
Just got some Alpinestar Tech 7's, been crazy comfortable so far. Pretty intrigued to try these boots too. Especially since they have the adjustability for bigger calves. Your two boot theory might have me sold. Lol. Thanks Kyle 👊🏼
Nice review Kyle, I just bought some leatt 3.5 (through your link of course) from RMATV. Only 2 rides on them and the left boot diggs into my outer ankle bone, any idea what I can do? Sorry the gaernes are just a little too expensive for me, but you could donate your old one's to me😊.
Gaerne enduro boots felt great on my feet I loved the fit and finish but I couldn’t feel the shifter or brake. Went to the alpenstar 7 drystar. The tow box is smaller so I run a thinner sock and that makes them comfortable. I can actually feel the brake and shifter now. I wander to love my Gaerne but was disappointed. I’m a 10.5 as well I went 11 in both. I prob could have and should have gone 10 in the Gaerne. I make custom orthotics and have them in both. The alpenstars also grip the bike better. Support and protection is basically the same
Can anyone help? I got some sg22s and after riding in them a few times they are still just very stiff and I have a hard time shifting in them. I can barely even flex the boot with just the power of my own foot, so if I’m standing up I cannot point my toe down to get under the shifter. I have to put my knee pretty far forward just to get under the shifter. And yes, I have tried raising the shifter.
The biggest problem of Sg12 for me is memory foam. It can absorb up to 300g of water and you need days(!) to dry it even with a heat blower. If you live in humid climate, don't even expect it to dry it out naturally between weekends. As I understood sg22 use same foam.
I got Gaerne Fastback - Love them. I would like to get the SG22, I saw them come into stores here in Asia back in Feb. But I can't afford them realistically. My Fastback seemed perfect right out of the box, no break in required. They are not nearly as hot and stuffy as my old cheap Oneals. I highly rate Gaerne as a brand.
Ah some cowboy boots a helmet and some jeans will do the trick you guys try to turn it Into a sport and you need expensive this and that just ride enjoy the views and life you don't have to constantly be pushing things to the limit lol to where you'd need all this crazy gear because you're doing dumb stuff
Sorry for the ignorance but I’m brand new to motocross boots and I’m not sure how the SG22s should fit. I wear a size 11 USA in nearly every tennis shoe, but 10.5 in work boots. Do you think I’d be better off with the 11s? And as far as fitting with motocross boots do you follow the general rule of “thumb” as the space between your toes and the end of the boot? Or do you want that space smaller
Kyle I wonder if you have discovered any moto socks that fit extra large legs? I bought msr and 100% socks and they are super skinny and just don't fit my legs.
I’m wearing the Gaerne Fastbacks, awesome boots. Only complaint is they’re loose on the calf, made for riders with bigger calf’s. Other than that solid boot, very comfy and great support
Can you review the mako 360 I have really slowed down on riding because the vibrations of my 2022 beta 200 and it’s so expensive I would hate to spend the money if it don’t make it better
My finger has been hovering over the buy button for SG-12s for a few weeks now as my boots are getting worn out. However I've heard some grumbling about their customer service and I don't want to get screwed by another company like Alpinestars did to me. Have you ever dealt with Gaerne customer support?
I've heard those are nice boots but I'm totally sold on my Leatt 5.5's . Especially with the enduro sole and GTX material making them waterproof... I always seem to be playing in the water when i ride 😂
I have the sg12 and love them. I had Sidi before and didn't like the t straps and they had issues closing and staying closed. SG12 have zero issues including more cozy than Sidi
I just went to Tec 3 boots , from sidi srs crossfire 3. After wearing them in they are much better! and less than half the price. They are harder to get my toe under to shift gears, but i changed the shifter up one notch and its fine . Heaps better grip in wet hills and more comphy
I'm in the market for new boots now. I think I have it narrowed down to either the new fox como series or the gaerne fastback Enduro . I just need to find a place with them.borh in stock to try on.
My gearny boots were made for a woman the toe is so narrow ill have to lose 3 toes for it to fit the insole came out and shrivelled up after 3 rides shin pad area with the g on both fell off after 3 months they were my dream boots but turned out to be the worst i ever had
@DirtBikeChannel Kyle if you do not have a boot drier I "highly' recommend getting one, they work amazing allowing you to wash your boots inside and out and have dry boots the next day
You should do a budget boot shootout to see how good or bad cheaper boots are in comparison to high end. Not everyone can spend 600 bucks on some boots, but I get that you dont wanna skimp either
I just got some tec3 and they are great , had sidi srs crossfire 3 before, they fell apart. They have no pivot but they have a strap to stop your foot going to far
I tried a set of SG12 and there was a really bad hot spot in the back of my leg so I went with Alpinestars. Maybe I will try the SG22s and see if they are better. My feet are drenched when I get done and it would be nice to have a second set to let the first one dry out.
Why I’m stuck on what boot to buy. I have it down to these or AS tech 7 enduro drystars and I may need to keep feet dry living on the coast of Florida. If I was out west, it would be a no brainer SG22.
The SG-22's make the SG-12's feel like concrete space boots. They are much lighter. The toe box is alot more roomier. It is much easier to shift and you have alot more feel on the pegs. They feel like they are broken in out of the box yet they are still very stiff and they hug your ankle. Hands down.... they best boots on the market today.
What model of Forma? I have Gaerne SG12's for enduro riding, but bought some Forma Adventure for dual sport and found them fairly comfortable, but really lacking in protection compared to the SG12, and settled on the Alpinestars Corozal for dual sport riding.
@@RickGreen_McNutt I have had the Forma Boulders (trials boot), Enduro TX and Predator 2.0 and all have been great! Enduro TX is the cheaper enduro boot but held up great for over 2 years. Just got the Predator and is definitely a step up. We ride slow nasty stuff and have to push a lot and do trail work on super slppery Hawaii mud and these are the best soles for traction out of all the brands. Cheers.
I leave mine on, and replace them when they ultimately disappear on a ride (which happens every 6 months or so). I find that if you happen to hit a rock with the front of the boot, having the metal toe cap, it tends to 'glance off' the rock, whereas with the softer rubber/leather/fabric front (without the toe cap), then tend to catch a little more. I still have my SG10's from 2008 and theyre literally good to go lmao. That said im stockin up to get back out there in the +30, and im lookin at the SG22
Nice looking boots. The SG12 took a long time to break in and the feel for the shift lever and rear brake is not that good. Still a great boot. Hope the sg22 has improved on that.
Tech 10s have heaps more protection and support aswell as comfort from inner boot. I got foot and ankle run over by toyota landcruiser on limestone surface and only could feel abit. No damage. Other boots your foot and ankle and probably leg would be crushed
