Check out Fenoglio. They are hand made in Texas and reasonably priced. Comparable to Tecovas in pricing . Also offer exotic materials and custom boot for relatively cheap. You are not wrong about the Sagara. I just received my MTO cordmaster and been blown away by the build quality and every single detail. I own many well respected boots (Alden, Tricker's.....etc) and can honestly say the Sagara are up there with the very best. I wasn't expecting them to be the beast of the boots. I'm now sold on Sagara and will definitely get another pair

I have only had a few pair of decent boots, but I just got my Nick's rangers this week (that I ordered after watching your review of the builder pros) and they are amazing. I'm absolutely blown away at the construction, and plan to wear them for what seems likely to be decades. For any who may be curious, I sized using Nick's printable guide, they fit perfect, and 24 hours of wearing into the break in process, they have been great.

I love my rock rooster slip on boots. I work at a fire department and they hold up great for any training or grunt work we’re doing, the rubberized toe cap really holds up, and running a lot of ems calls they’re super comfortable. The first pair I ordered had an issue with the lip of the heel cap folding over and causing chaffing, so they just sent me a free pair to make up for it and I’ve had no issues since

I worked for a warehouse where we had a $200 per year paid boot budget. Had to be steel-toed. And I bought Wolverines both times. Don't remember what happened to the first pair. But the second pair I got were really great and I loved them they were so comfortable. However after a period of time where I didn't wear them for a while, I took them on a vacation to the snow and the soles disintegrated. I wish I had gotten them resoled. I foolishly threw them away. The uppers were fine and they probably would still be great boots. C'est la vie.

I filmed a documentary about Brian the boot maker several years ago and I did not really think very much about it at the time. I actually owned an industrial sewing machine and an awl at that time and was building sewed goods as a side hobby along with my film work. But all this time later it's crazy to hear him mentioned on this channel and I honestly now realize that part of this love for boots I have was started there when I worked on that. And also from channels like this and stridewise too. Thank you so much.

i know im really biased because im from the area, but i love timbs. there have been some awesome collabs coming from them that include stuff like vibram lug soles and a goodyear welt. ive yet to find one of them in my size and price range but theyre really nice and i like that theyre leaning towards more eco friendly practices. the rebotl ones are really unique looking and a nice way to reuse some of what would have otherwise ended up in a landfill or the ocean. most of my rotation is white leather sneakers though so i dont get to wear them as much as i would like to

My favorite pair of boots this year are a pair of double stitch steel toe Doc Martens I found in a second hand shop in North London. Made back in 1988 when they were still made in England, they were sold as used boots but had been worn so little the rubber soles still had all the pilly bits still on them! They had clearly sat on a shelf for thirty years and the leather was so stiff you could probably bludgeon someone to death with them. Used your mink oil method and they could have been made yesterday, absolutely fantastic daily driver boot and the steel toe means I get away with wearing them at work.

Glad i found your channel. Just recently i finally realized the value of having good work clothes / boots. I was raised that when your good clothes started to get wrecked they became your barn clothes and boots were always just the cheapest steel toes you could pick off of the shelf. Im about to order a pair of ariat turbo chelseas and hope they work well. (First pair of slip ons) My boots usually only last me around 4 months before they get holes in them right above where the toes and laces meet. Surprised Belleville didn't make the "cut", very good boots. My absolute favorite boots of all time though are vintage 90's Cocoran/Matterhorn 195x. Thinsulate, Goretex, vented panels, Vibram soles, quick lace d-rings on uppers, milspec sizes to fit every foot. Each pair I've owned has literally lasted me a decade with a few resoles and regular care. Three pairs in 30 years. So good, they don't make 'em anymore, LOL! Belleville is my most recent addition and imo, every bit as good as the old Matterhorns. Not quite as stylish, but much easier to find =)

I agree about the Bellevilles. Very good quality and comfort although I need orthotic insoles for full support (very high arches). No, they can’t be resoled but they take a pretty severe beating and are durable. My top boots are a pair of Truman's in Java waxed flesh and my Alden Indy 405's. I actually really like my Made in England Oxblood Doc Martens too. I've had the Alden's for about 5 years, the Docs about 3 years and the Truman's about 2 years. I probably wear the Truman's the most though. Looking into Nick's. Gotta save up though.

Love my Lems that I had for years. I use it as my winter boots. 11:55 a great advice someone gave me, that have helped me tremendously, is to always remove the insole before use. By that I mean the loose sole which in this cut apart looks white. In my Lems it’s a night and day experience for me with or without the insole. While the insole feels soft and comfy, it disable sensory input the feet needs to provide the brain with. So with the insole in the shoe, for me after some use I can start experimenting headache, neck problems or sore hip, due to when I’m not walking correctly what should hurt my feet will instead build up and hurt my body in other places. Without the fluffy and comfy insole, if I walk incorrectly it’s going to hurt instantly in my feet which reminds my instantly to correct my stride. As I use this as my winterboot in nordic winters I add in a loose wool insole when it’s at its coldest. This work better then the insole the manufacturer delivers the boot with as it’s felted to be compact rather then being fluffy. If you are like me and have relatively narrow feet, this boots work really well in cold dry winters. As the boot is so soft and light you tie the shostrings ones and just slide your feet on and out of them, as the boot is so soft it follows your feet when if you don’t time them on tightly. It also make the wide and loose enough for wool insoles and thick wool socks.

I'm still trying to break in my Nick's BuilderPro boots, currently at about 50-60 hours, and so far I love them. They are a little hard to get on and off with the size and shape of my feet but that is becoming a little easier as the leather wears in and stretches.

I honestly never would have guessed that I enjoy watching boots/shoes get cut up as much as I do..... but here we are. This is a shoe/boot lovers dream channel. To get to actually see what work/materials are used and the quality is so valuable! Whenever I buy another pair of boots, I will definitely be checking them out here before I ever try them on. My favorite boots are my Wilcox Fairfax, that are now 7 years old and still in great shape! These are the nicest I have ever owned so I don't have too many comparisons. Previously it was a pair of Ahnu Montara (that lasted 3.5 years), but they are almost more like high top shoes than boots. SO comfortable though! I used to really like "jump" boots, with the zipper up the side (would make a cool episode!). Had a couple of pairs of Doc Martens (before they moved manufacturing to China), they were okay, mostly wanted them for the look. But the soles sometimes crack and will let water seep in from the ground.

If you go with a reputable boot company, like redwing for example, there is no difference in quality in same model boots. The difference is only in foot shape.

Ariat Terrain is my absolute favourite for everyday work. I Farm, and I walk my goats over rough wet terrain in the PNW constantly. It takes me about a year to break them in nicely (of 8-10mile 12-14hr days), year two they are just perfect. Third year they start to crack along the ball area of the upper, fourth year splits along the cracks then the uppers start separating from the soles at this point. In the four months it takes to get them here in my size (why they won’t ship to Canada 😭) the sole finally starts to wear through a bit in one spot (this is due to my walking as it also happens in cheap not crocs and runners in 4-6 months). I’m hoping mink oil will help extend my new pairs 2-4 year span somewhat.

I saw that you were considering cutting those Nike Dunks apart. Have you ever considered cutting apart a proper designer shoe like a Rick Owens Ramones sneaker or something? They're extremely popular right now and they're made in Italy. They have an infamous cult following too. I feel like Dunks are kind of predictable now that you've cut the AJ1s apart lol

I don’t know diddly squat about boots 🥾 but I just learned a ton. I love the ones you hope to do a collab on. Those are super cool looking…it’s the extra piece like the waddle on a turkey or the goatee on a goat that finishes it off. I’m clearly into the esthetics. 😂 What a cool job. 💕

When I was working for a living, I loved wolverine boots. They were warm, comfortable, and they lasted a long time. If my feet hurting, I would wear them and my feet would feel better after. The only drawback is they were really heavy. I never went for the 1000 mile boots though. I always had a steel toe with durashock or multishock.

When I was riding, the Hathorn packer was a great bang for the buck boot. When doing ground work, it was the redwing 402. The Vasquez sundowner of the 80's was my go to hiker, with oboz being my current one, though I dream of a pair of Russell moccasin boots. Now that I have a little money, I have some nicer boots that I really enjoy, but those first 3 will always be special.

I don't have the Lem boots, but I do have 2 other pairs of shoes from them. They are amazingly comfortable for me. I have a wide forefoot because of a pair of bunions. Surprisingly for me, these have actually helped me reduce my bunions and that's over just a month! If you have high arches or really tight Achiles tendonds or calf muscles you will need to work up to these, but long term will be worth it. I would love to hear what boots & shoes are good quality, zero drop, and aren't all about fashion. I know for many like me, it's all about function first.

My holy grail is the Whites smokejumper boots in black. I wear a 7-1/2 boot so it's hard to find my size in anything, so I figured I may as well just go to the top and have them made in my size. I've always been a fan of "logger" type boots, but I find the quality and craftmanship of Chippewa and Timberland on the downslope.
