Hey DU, awesome to hear from you:) And yeah I’ve found it surprisingly helpful; it’s actually part of my preferred studio setup now so hopefully it can do a good job for you too. you need 2000 nits if you work outside alot. Fotga C50 5-Inch 2000nit at $225 is a better deal.

Great review and very drole commentary which I like. Would be good to know the pros and cons of this versus using a smartphone with the Motion+ app, especially in wireless mode with the ZV-E10. Toodles!

I tried using my Sony ZV-E10 outside with my sunglasses on (hello Florida sunshine) & thought the camera was broken 🤣. I know you mentioned it’s a bit tricky in the sun, but can you still see the screen with sunglasses on? I can easily see this is going to be an issue for me with the camera. Thanks & great video!

Hey ON, great question. The monitor plus sunshade is visible in sun with sunglasses BUT I suspect the sun in Florida is a lot more intense than the autumn sun in the UK! If you regularly shoot outdoors spending a little more on a monitor with higher brightness might be worth considering. If outdoors in the sun is less frequent and the way you have your setup means the sunshade will remove a lot of brightness then the PT5 could do a solid job. Hope that helps! How can you tap the record bottom on the camera if you have it on a gimbal? or how to do it if you connect the camera to the gimbal by pc connection you won't be able to see the monitor, please any help will be appreciated, thanks

Hi! When I try to use the Pt5 ii, and hit the record button on the camera, the screen goes blank. And when I change the camera settings to „record to hdmi only“, then the monitor keeps the picture during recording, but the cam then doesn’t record on my SD-card.. :/ Any help concerning my camera settings to fix this? Thanks, Ferdinand

Nice video. I'm currently using my phone and monitor+ app as a temporary monitor and considering buy one after watching this video. Buy my ZV-E10 face tracking function stops working when the camera connected to the phone. So I wonder if it can use face tracking when it connected to an external monitor? This is the only thing holding me back to buy one.

Hey Ashley, I can confirm that all the autofocus tracking works as normal with the monitor connected. The face or eye detect box doesn’t show on the monitor but the feature itself works and you can turn on focus peaking on the monitor to double check:) Hope that helps! When you say it tops out at 4K 30 and 1080p 60, that means if my camera is on 4K 60p (for slow mo) it won’t show anything on the screen? As will be adding this to my shopping list

Hey OMT, let me check this. It still displays the image when using 1080p120, but presumably it's just hsowing a 60hz version; I'd assume same would be true for 4k60 (so it shows a 1080p verison) but will try to double check. Hope you're dong well and have a great weekend!

Hii I’m looking to get the ZVE10 and I was wondering if the face detection and eye AF still works on thr ZVE10 when connected to an external monitor like the PT5 via HDMI? Cuz I know that it doesn’t work with the a6400 and a7III Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey TechiCardia (excellent name btw) my experience with the ZV-E10 is that the AF still works albeit that the display disappears, but it still very clearly follows me; the same goes on the a7iv, though on that I believe there's options to keep the display too if you wish. You can use the peaking display on the monitor for peace of mind showing what's in focus and I find that quite helpful:) Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you like the content and have a great day!

I noticed there is a little green color cast on the PT5 monitor. Are there controls for adjusting the colors in the monitor image?

Hey ATF, yeah there’s options to adjust between colour temperature at a few different K settings, plus a manual mode to dial in custom settings for your environment. I suspect between the two you’d be able to get a balance that works for most environments:) Great to hear from you again and hope you’re having a great weekend 👍

Hi, could help I plug in my Sony ZV-1 into the portkeys Pt5 ii, but it doesn’t fill the screen I have tried settings on the camera & the monitor. I have black bars top & bottom, and the sides. Even when I tap the screen to take off the monitor menu. I’m I missing something?,🇬🇧 Even with 1080p I see the camera display setting, such as shutter, focus, etc.

I have a 6k camera... does it mean, this monitor won't accept signal from my camera? Will it show black?

Hey TIE, I can't say for sure as I don't have a 6k camera to directly test with. However I find with framerates it doesn't technically support, like 120fps, the signal comes through but just gets displayed at 60. My guess would therefore be that 6k displayed at a lower resolution would be more likely than a straight black screen. Best I can suggest is dropping a line to Portkeys for them to confirm I'm afraid. Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you like the content and have a great weekend!

the usb type A power input puzzles me., no usb A to usb A cable, not one included either. The manual doesn't explain anything here sadly :(

It's foremost for loading luts, I guess the 5V out is for charging things like your camera via micro USB to USB A cable

I find it RIDICULOUS that they don't have any BASIC REMOTE control buttons on these external monitors like PRESS RECORD / STOP ➞ WTFFFFFFFF. Seriously, I coudln't believe there is none when I got mine. AHHHHHHGR
