I've had the small Presonus Eris 3.5" for over 2 years now. Finally upgrading a bit. But I'd recommend the Eris 3.5" to anyone who's looking for a pair of starter monitors 💪🏼 they did me right for a few years now

The JBL 104bt do have some drawbacks. Bluetooth lag with RU-vid and big volume drop using TRS connection. Both are issues deal breakers but they do have an excellent sound.

@@reygievaldellon5929 edifier is not a studio monitor, its a bookshelf speaker. Its great if you are not mixing and it has better bass than any of the mentioned speakers

@@E7visuals correct! but for mixing its better to start with a 5 inch dome! below 5 like eris here its better as REFERENCE monitors, i pair my eris 3.5 with a logitech sub and very happy with it!

@@klodreck It really depends, personally I'd just use cables and ignore Bluetooth speakers. Edifier make great speakers in this range, but I'd also advise looking for used powered studio monitors, something like the JBL LSR305s, I have those and they're fantastic.

Surely not a video about studio equipement "use bluetooth to listen to the music from the kitchen" ?? Just a shopping list video, no comparison, no real pros and cons. And anyway for this price better mix with a pro open back pair of headphones... And you can also listen to music in the kitchen...

All speakers are not bad as Hi-FI, but not as studio monitors. All of these are beaten as a studio monitor by the cheap Edifier MR4

Re: Edifier... you never mentioned that out of the 4 brands reviewed, the Edifier was the only one that had no aux for headphones, minor detail, but a pain when you dont wish to wake up the house while listening to music in the middle of the night

To me, the control for treble and bass that edifier has means more. I plug the headphones into the computer when I don't want to disturb others... But as you say a headphone jack would be nice, I'm not against it, I don't know why they don't include it.

I dunno, most people (if they aren't stupid by building their own PC or buy correctly pre-build PC) will have their front panel wired and when you plug your earphones in it automatically switches off line out. Or if you use real monitors (and not this bullshit) you won't use your built in sound card, you will use something like Focusrite or Roland sound interface with dedicated phones output.

Bruh noone of these should be used as studio monitors they are terrible dont buy them! The only good one or well a "real studio monitor" is the jbl 305p Mkll. If you want to take music production seriously, get the jbl 305p. Or save up and get any genelec. Any genelec speaker is a good studio monitor

Could you elaborate? I'm starting out in "music production", meaning I just want to record my electric guitar for covers and some originals to upload these on RU-vid, and was leaning towards the PreSonus 3.5's since a lot of people recommend these. I'm a complete noob and will learn everything from scratch, and I'll record just my guitar directly into my Audient iD4 MkII into Reaper with Guitar Rig.

@@agoniavr Reason is that none of the first 4 is accurate enough to be called a "studio monitor". The cheapest proper studio monitor you can get is Presonus Eris E5 which is an older model and usually goes on sale at around 210-220 for a pair. In general, if you want to have a decent low-end extension, don't get anything under 5" unless your studio is not much bigger than a closet. The eris 3.5s are great as computer speakers but they are not accurate (none is in that price range) and that will lead in bad mixes. Check out AudioHaze channel, he usually reviews microphones but he has a couple speaker "reviews" that are done in a way that shows exactly how a monitor affects your mixing.

@@spiroszaharakis2648 thanks for the hint, I'll check the channel out! Anyway the "studio" is just my bedroom which isn't huge, as mentioned I'd just like to hear my electric guitar well both when I play through my audio interface and plugins and when I record.

@@agoniavr In a small bedroom you may be OK with a pair of 4" as long as they are accurate. However most of those small 3.5-4" budget monitors have a bump in the frequency response at around 100-120hz to make them sound "fuller" due to the lack of low end extension and that will probably be a problem when mixing. In fact I can't actually find any other pair of monitors even with 4" woofers that costs less that 200 and is fairly accurate. But if Presonus eris 3.5 is all you can afford, then by no means, get them. They are better than nothing and even though they are not accurate, they sound nice, especially for the price. Otherwise you can also check the Presonus Eris 4,5 as they are an upgrade over the 3.5 and they are not too expensive either.

I think that the Eris 3.5 might suffice since as mentioned I'm starting out, plus I live in a flat with other people around so I can't crank the volumes too much anyway. I just wanted something better than the normal Logitech speakers you find on Amazon(which are good for me but not for this task) to know at least I'm hearing frequencies a bit better :) and btw these Presonus you mentioned are 212€ on Thomann so I can get them easy!

Actually Edifier are Studio. They are not monitors though. They are bookshelf speakers and also not computer speakers. They are used as such because they are active so that comes easy. Also, JBL are not the best :)
