I listened on my Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro headphones...the Edifier sounded overenhanced, which would be great for hooking up to your TV or stereo. The Eris sounded cleaner and natural. It's ironic that I found this review since I am looking at the Presonus Eris Studio 8 Studio Monitor.

I got both at home. And clearly PreSonus is a nearfield studio monitor while Edifier is kind of "HiFi" booksheld speaker. I only use them for TV and listening to music. PreSonus are my production studio speakers, their sound ist much more clearer und transparent. Very good monitors for low price. Also they got symmetrical input which is important, too.

Compared to the Eris the Edifiers are not clearer, at all, those sound more muffled. I consider the Eris more of a production speaker and Edifier maybe for TV and casual music listening, but I would set the treble up on those.

The Presonus is considered to be a nearfield monitor and a flatter natural response for production, where the Edifier is a bookshelf speaker meant for casual listening and a pleasantly colored sound. It's not really an apples to apples comparison.
