Tell me about it! I just bought Mackie CR-3X, (I had Sterling MX-3 before) and I seem to have this constant static noise going on with the Mackie, regardless of whether I connected balanced or unbalanced. I did NOT have this problem with Sterling, so it's REALLY bothering me! I'll likely end up returning the Mackies.
Omg I've spent so much money because of this and also cables im new to this hobby 😳 I've spent hundreds on cables that were the wrong type and im still not sure what to get I just bought two mono 1/4 inch balanced to go out of my focusrite scarlett 2i2 and I'm thinking I screwed up ugh 🙃 tired of wasting my money on stuff that I can't use I need to figure this crap out before I go broke 🙃 😑

Please don't sleep on these speakers. I have a pair of these speakers that I recently purchased from my local pawn mart. They are fifty watts of true power and the fact that they are blue tooth enabled makes it even sweeter. The bass is tight and the highs are decent. I have them connected to my Casino DSP 30 portable keyboard. And the rich sound that they produce is perfect for my home studio set up. I also use them whenever I'm watching movies or other various types of streams.
They are great speakers for plugging in synths and guitar effects.And for general listening via TV/phone They are bass heavy so I wouldn't recommend them for studio work.
It takes less time to grab a box that is bigger than you need and use filler than it does to grab a box that is too small and then need to grab another box that is big enough. You'd probably get fired if you made that mistake enough times day after day. Also, the difference in terms of these speakers between TRS vs TS is not Stereo vs Mono as there are separate inputs for each channel on these. TRS carries an AC signal. TS carries a DC signal. AC signals are less susceptible to interference and will sound better [over longer runs] compared to using unbalanced DC signal with TS.
I just purchased these for a home studio setup for when I mix and don’t want to disturb the neighbors. Can’t wait to try them out and record a few sets.
These are absolutely Awesome Sounding for the price one of the best 💯 dollars plus tax and shipping I ever spent great for desk top great for making beats and a small home studio the sound for the price is excellent the Bluetooth is dope too.
Ok, right on, I was gonna ask if these had Bluetooth, as I'm waiting for my set to arrive. Will be awesome for flipping between my turntable and PC. I was gonna dedicate them to my turntable but now I see I'm not limited! Thanks for the info!

Hope you can help me...I just received these today as an open box deal on ebay. They did not come with the 3.5 cord that runs from my laptop headphone jack to the RCA inputs. So I borrowed my old ones from my Bose speakers. Now the sound only works when you switch the L-R switch on the back, but not both. The seller told me he would refund me 10 bucks to go to the store to buy the right cord, but didn't I already have it from the old speakers? Why don't both left and Right produce sound at the same time? Wrong plugs?
I am a professional singer- songwriter, thinking to buy some good studio monitors (low bugdet) . I am between Presonus 3.5 BT or 4.5 BT, alessis elevate 5 MKII.. Which one would u recommend? I know also many that are doing music production are having KRK or Yamaha...
You can’t really show true audio quality through a microphone recording... so I rather not. I tried to show audio quality with the New Mackie Subwoofer and it was a slight fail to be honest.

But maybe your opinion about the sound signature, and which genre(s) you're using it for etc. would be give it a bit more body regarding to that respect. All these reviews should also address the build quality. By this I mean to disassemble the powered speaker and show and comment on the electronics side of the product - especially since the original CR series had so many problems with overheating, no audio and faulty L/R switch. How can one know what solutions they implemented and whether Mackie corrected the issues with the new X series or not? "They sound great" is not enough. Take the speaker apart, comment on its components and then the review will be more valid.
Amazing I’m looking for small monitors speakers like these but better quality and they are hard to find. They all start with 5” speakers. 3” is what I want but again I don’t want this cheap stuff like the small presonus.
if your audio interface outputs are TWO single quarter inch outputs and you run TWO TS (unbalanced) outputs to the two outputs you will have stereo not mono. Balanced is only needed if you are coming from one stereo output such as a computer output, headphone jack, etc
I got these as an upgrade from the previous CR3 version. The problem I'm having with these is, that they have an awful, relatively loud round noise (white noise, not a hum or buzz), for no reason. My assumption is, that this noise originates from the amplifier in the active speaker. I'm wondering, do you have the same problem? Because this really does affect the experience alot. Note: The noise is there as soon as I turn them on, no matter if they're connected to anything. That's why I think that it comes from the amp. Thanks!
I just got mine today and notice this as well. Awfully annoying white noise. I've even tried other power outlets with no change in noise. I suspect it is the amp as well.
@280ke its called iLock, with this you can use protools offline with no internet, if u buy a key for pro tools you only will be able to use it when conected to internet
Your explenation about balanced vs unbalanced isn't correct, true you can send stereo over 1 TRS cable while a TS cable will only do mono over 1 cable but in this case we are talking about balanced vs unbalanced with 2 seperate inputs 1 for left and 1 for right this will always be stereo wether you use balanced or unbalanced cables. Balanced just means there is a seperate wire for the ground which means there will be less chance of radio interferance.

TR!NT3 I am satisfied, there is some white noise on the non Powered monitor but in my opinion it’s not very loud to the point where I need to turn them off when there’s no sound, for me i have the A/C on cause it’s really hot where I am and the white noise is completely un noticeable when the A/C is on and but bottom line the white noise isn’t that bad

Don't buy CR series monitors. Mine died after 3 years of mild use. Customer Service told me to go pay a repair shop. Buy from a company that stands by their product and makes you whole when they need to.
