Bought the Lago and I can't put it down. Liked it so much I actually bought a 2nd one. Can also highly recommend the Civivi Sentinel Strike too. Both are super fidget friendly
Can we get a "exclude AUTO" button in the filters on the website? Or something like that. Half the knives are automatics when searching button locks, and its annoying to have to scroll through all of those looking for non-autos.
Great list DCA. I'm happy to see the CJRB Lago on a list in 2024. It's been out for a couple of years now, and I always thought it was underrated. I really think it's a lot of bang for your buck!
Every time I watch this guy I wanna buy another knife. I think I might need some therapy for knife addiction. I’m not sure anyone would believe this is something you can get addicted to. I wish I could stop watching ….
My favorite as EDC in my collection is the Civivi Conspirator. I love the wood handle, the slicy blade and how it has a full four finger grip. I have never liked thumb studs, and the groove in the blade makes two handed opening easy for those situations where flipping the blade open may intimidate non-knife people. Also, assisted knives are not allowed in Norway. Would love to see more flippers with axis type locks if that is at all possible.
CJRB Lago 💯 🎯. Love mine. It's my favorite plain edge that I own. (Need to get a backup. Ha.) The CJRB Riff is a tank and another favorite in my collection, and its what I happen to be carrying this week.
I am reallyu impressed wit the Kizer button lckes. I purchased two of them from KnifeCenter and very happy with them both. (Vanguard Damned Design and the Vanguard Azo Brat). I have the Brat in my daily rotation. Excellent job on this video!!
I had that little Hogue and it was dependable and so much fun. Scary sharp. I also found a way to get it back in the handle without the little push DCA mentioned. I gave it away and now I find myself missing it. Great acute tip as well. Thumbs up for the Hogue
I would add the CJRB Feldspar, the WE Knife Exciton and Zifferus, the Kizer Begleiter, to name a few. There are countless amazing button locks nowadays... this could have been a top 50. Still, this is a great list. Thanks for the post.
I was glad to see QSP and Bestech. My two favorite EDCs come from their stables. The CJRB though is the head turner for me. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it’s not in my pocket already!
I really wanted to like the Civivi Stormhowl. I got the "Brose Gold" handle (pink, but looks like the Rose Gold color Apple did on their phones for a while). It's handle length wasn't quite long enough for me, and my big ol' hands and since it terminates in a beak, my pinkie rests right in the middle of it uncomfortably. I plan on trying to hand it off to a friend's wife for it to live in a purse or something. The other new Civivi that has a Transformers-esque name that I like is the Starflare. More accommodating handle, but much different as a wharncliffe rather than a clip point.
Oky, now that I've watched it, I'm going to say I was correct: The Kizer Gemini is still better than everything on this list. As far as the list itself, the only criticism I have is the Vosteed Valkyrie made a POOR choice of steel for its fine-tipped Seax blade. It should have come with 14C28N, the Nitro-V steel was just hardened a bit too high for that fine a point. One of my daily carry rotations is my Vosteed Raccoon, I'd replace the Valkyrie on this list with the Raccoon.
Yea, bought one button luck a while back. The button unthreaded. Fixed it with locktight. Not a fan of the mechanism in general though so barely carry it.
Another great video. Would be nice to add the budget Sencut knives as well. Just added the Serene to my collection after considering the Sasche and Crowley.
How about smaller button knives? Any recommendations? I just got the elementum 2 and I cant stop picking it up lol. I wonder if theres anything similar thats smaller n maybe still has the sleek kinda design.
Forget the button lock even though I like it id prefer a crossbar lock for fidget friendly lock. It just feels so much safer and robust. Every time I use a button lock knife in any situation other than cutting paper or tape I'm kinda nervous. At work I'll use my cross bar locks to cut thick plastic straps and not bat an eye. I want a list on great cross bar lock flippers. Especially in the budget category
@@acid6urns Nothing to do with detent but mecanism, you need a really large opening in the blade between pivot and flipper tab to be able to operate the axis lock.
You seemed to have overlooked the Spartan Blades Pallas, which has been around since before the Malibu, and all the chinese offerings. It's built superbly, extremely comfortable for guys with bigger hands, and has flawless balance. Opportunity missed.
I do love these knives and will have to add a few to my large knife collection. I do have a question, most knives gravitate to a 3 inch plus blade. What do you have in a locking folder that would be a welcome addition to my smaller (sub-2 inch blade) collection?
I let my malibu go due to fact I didn't want to carry it, too much $ invested in it. I let go my culux too, simply didnt like it. Love my maxace babylon and spyderco smock. Id like a kizer cormorant frag.
I recently started collecting knives. I was excited to get my first couple of button locks. However, one opened as I was getting it out of my pocket. I'm not sure I'll be getting another one.
How? I've carried a button lock and an auto and it's never happened to me in years. Maybe consider one with a secondary lock, it's a great opening method.
Hello DCA, first of all, thank you very much for your videos. They are entertaining and very informative. Now to my request. I am looking for an outdoor/ survival recurved fixed blade. It shouldn't be too chunky, like a Kukri. Between 4 or 5 inches would be perfect. Do you have anything in mind? Thank you in advance.
Hey DCA, I need a replacement for a utility knife. I’m a leatherworker, so I go through a lot of blades. Do you have any suggestions of wharncliffe blade shapes, as budget as possible ($50 is about as high as I want to go), about 2-2 1/2 blade length, and either a very hard steel or easy to touch up steel. I can sharpen so that’s not a problem.
I’m stopped at 18 seconds, and I’m going to say it’s unlikely that DCA will show us a better button lock flipper than the Knifecenter exclusive Kizer Gemini with the 4V blade I have in my pocket today (my 14C28N Vosteed Raccoon is sitting home today.)
I'd add the Swaggs Sway Back, it is interesting because my model has thumb stud in addition to the flipper. The ones I saw on your website only have flippers??? Kizer Cutlery Vanguard Swaggs Sway Back Flipper Knife 2.99" N690 Stonewashed Wharncliffe Blade, Purple G10 Handles, Button Lock - V3566N1
