After breaking two high end carbon bars of the same brand (1 on a crash, 1 was dented by the stem), I decided to try the OneUp. Was blown away at how good they feel and they've lasted a few seasons and MANY crashes. I plan to try PNW next as I really like that company and the support they give.

My linement lines was wrong and i cut and it felt funny, i checked and longer on one side. But oneup helped me and i got a new one, only some pictures and on serialnumber... and the bar is so good too.

I haven’t ridden either the PNW or the One Up but I did use your same 35 Bonty carbon bar for a year with no issue. I currently use a 31.8 800mm Ibis carbon bar and it’s great. I’m more inclined to choose a bar based on rise and sweep. Right now I’m looking at 35-40mm rise bars to get my aging body a little more upright.

One-up to me has been the best carbon bar....just feels better. I have a Trail one also...I don't know the One-up just hase a better feel, doesn't feel so stiff. One-up is the benchmark now for all bars.

I have a Hope 31.8 800mm 5up 7back 20mm rise bar, the difference between it and the alloy it replaced was night and day, could also experience up/down dampening, this was on a very basic starter bike, have it now on a better hardtail, crashed at 40kph doing multiple jumps(first 3 felt good then instsnt stack on the 4th jump) grip destroyed badly and bars bent badly, I was in pain and suffered multiple bad bruises but remarkably was able to bend the bars back and they survived, bike also survived without a scratch. I torque brake levers at 6nm no issues and Hope doesn't tell you a limit on torquing ie, some state 4.5nm max etc. Only think I don't like is the 800mm feels too wide, will cut to 760-750mm eventually.

I switched from alloy handlebars to OneUps a while ago and while I did know that they are supposed to be more comfy, did not believe in the marketing. In the end I use them in different rise options on 3 of my bikes. They actually do feel more comfortable and compliant than any of the alloy handlebars I have used. I would love to try the PNW as well. They look nicer with colour options already on the bar (need to buy stickers for oneup) and I think 2 degrees more backsweep for me would be a huge selling points if they are still as comfy as the oneups.

Just installed my PNW Loam Carbon 31.8 bar, heading out to ride soon. Will let you know the results. This saved me having to buy a 35 mm stem! I've been more than pleased with PNW's products and customer support. I have no reason to think the carbon bar will be any different. Thanks for your video!

I've just bought some ultimate use wide2 bars from the uk, they are ud carbon and 31.8 800m, 40mm rise, but can be cut down as far as 720mm if thats your thing, only £90 also, stealth logos and they also do really nice seatposts and stems too, they've been around as a company since the late 80's and also make the Exposure lights, well worth a look

My Trance X came with 35mm alloy bar and it was unbelievably harsh - fitted a OneUp and that is sooo much more comfortable. I'm not sending this bike at all, the carbon bars may not be as durable as the thicker alloy but they are way less tiring. For 31.8mm bars, my alloy bars are just fine. 35mm alloy for a lot of people are just too stiff.

Personally I don’t use a 35mm “new standard” bar on my hardtail’s. I only weigh 155# and my hardtail’s are SS, some rigid, and others with Fox34 120 and 130mm forks and geared and SS. I’m my opinion and based on many years of riding. 31.8 is perfect and adds some flex and compliance. My ENVE bar has a nice back sweep and the SQ Labs bar has even more back sweep. I have a few other brands but never found the need for 35mm bar or a 35x35mm super short stem with 780 and 800 length bars. Honestly it’s just another annoying trend like saying I should use 160mm crank arms lol.

I actually don't love how flexy the Oneups feel. Especially when you are pumping or climbing something that has you pulling up and down on the bars, you can feel the flex. They are definitely comfortable but I would like more backsweep like the Loam offers..

I didn't have a chance to use it, but I believe that the flattened sections in the OneUp handlebar can really work. Few months ago I've switched to a narrower handlebar in my gravel bike (yeah, I know, but please, bear with me). The new one, apart from being 2 cm narrower (that was the main goal of the change), is also slightly flattened at the "top grip" section. I was very surprised during my first ride after installing this new handlebar - there was a massive change in road vibration dampening. I even stopped to check if my front tire did not loose some air pressure! So, for me that is the evidence for that this shape can really work. Although, the same effect can be achieved with a special carbon layup in the PNW handlebar.

I had 35mm bars on my Giant Trance...had.... After first ride on the new bike a few years ago, I quickly switched those to PNW Range Handlebars and stem. Felt so much better. But am now interested in going Carbon and am very much interested in how the new Loam's compare to the Range. I am also considering the OneUP and the Trail One bars. Although, I had been told by a very reputable online bike store that OneUp and Trail One are very closely alike.

Curious what bars you landed on. I have the one up bars and they seem super weird to me. If they are installed where the oval is in a position to flex, the roll is way too far forward. When I have the bar roll where they feel good to me, I am on top of the oval and it has ZERO compliance. If I use the recommended lines on the bars, they are weird looking and uncomfortable. What am I missing that everyone else isn’t?

Being only 5'6 riding XC. I use neither because they are too tall for my pedaling position. When I lean over into my optimal pedaling position, if the bar is too tall, I have to absorb its close proximity to my shoulder socket by bending my elbow a lot. That zap energy. So I want handlebar low to allow my arms to straighten up a bit. My current favourite combo is CaneCreek Slamset headset + FSA SL-K Drop stem + Mt.Zoom 9 degree bar or protaper 20/20. Why Mt.Zoom 9 degree or Protaper 20/20 bar? 1) I need bar as low as possible so the bar will be run upside down. 1.1) Mt.Zoom and Protaper customer support is okay with bar being mounted upside down. While SqLab and some other companies say no. 1.2) These bars are design with 0 upsweep first. When bar is mounted upside down, any built-in upsweep become downsweep. A bar with built-in upsweep remain feeling weird when mounted upside down no matter how I rotate the bar. These two bars can be rorate to my preferred 3 degree of upsweep without feeling weird.

Yes Sir, it sure is! But, what I've found is there are a growing number of people like myself who are not willing to ride in a forward leaning hunched over the handlebars position anymore. In fact, I am even more extreme, I have an uncut steer tube, and 100mm riser stem to boot. I am now in the most comfortable riding position that I've ever had, and the bike feels more like a giant BMX bike, it's fabulous!

I can't tell you man because I only buy 31.8 bars (usually Protaper or Pro Tharsis). I think it's highly ironic that a company would go to 35mm then put a bunch of r&d into reducing stiffness. Serious WTF there. But this is the bike industry, where we buy $1000+ forks and have to take them apart before the first ride to correct the assembly errors. And most riders seem cool with that.

I have 31.8 carbon and aluminum. Can't tell the difference. Unless you can show me testing results comparing the flex, stress vs strain, bend to fail, repetition to fail on bars of the same length, the lower cost always wins. Subjective opinion is usually swayed by buyers remorse over spending $200+ when a stock or $75 handlebar works just as well. 😂😂

I have purchased both bars, and tried on a 145mm Switchbalde, and 130mm HighTower, both are very good, but I have to say the PNW is better. For all the comfort the ONeUp provides, i feel on rough trails and berm parks the one up moves just as much in the wrong direction as the designed direction. In other words, quite noodely during hard turns. The PNW bar felt just as good comfort wise, but better handling. Placebo is certainly a B*&%h, a real blind test would be good.
