Great stuff! Just wanna add the Pedal Commander. Under $300 and makes a HUGE difference in daily driving. Arguably a performance modeven though it doesn't ACTUALLY increase HP/TQ. Just wanted to mention for anyone it may help :)
Straight in when I see this platform, so thanks again. Have you done a video on when you do a detail and wash for the car, interested mainly for the black paint work
The paddle shifters do take some time. I got a good deal on the paddles, they are off a 2014 maxima. Had to use a dremel on the shroud that you linked in the description for the video, to get some room for them they are a bit bigger. But the maxima paddles were 80, the shroudh was 120 and the screws needed were another 10 or 12 bucks. Love the mode and it's really a DIY mod that i liked. Workin on the exhaust next, i bought a aftermarket axleback exhaust so just the borla that you sourced should wake it up a bit more. Thank you for all the content!
@speedculturestudios yeah i kept looking for the g37 paddles, but the bro tax is pretty ridiculous. But yes you are right, because they are maxima paddles i had to dremel. Not bad though $220
I gotta say, after seeing that spoiler in video, it looks way better than I expected. As far as my top "mod" under $300. Gotta go with tuxmats. Can't have dirty boots messing up the interior. Especially during the winter.
/u/ Unidan I don’t get any wheel hop, but I’m not sure I had any before either. The sway bar can’t hurt in that regard, that’s for sure. As far as wheel spin-it’s hard to say because these tires aren’t great for launching so I spin like crazy.
I have a 14 Q50s and ive been looking to lower it. First of all, you mention that lowering springs on high milage cars can get iffy, what would you consider high milage? I’m at 77k right now. Also, you mentioned stay away from Godspeed and Meagan, but what about RSR? Thanks!
RSR is good, but they are not my preference because they tend to sag in the rear-or result in the rear being lower than the front which I cannot stand. I prefer a level or slightly raked look. I’ve run springs on a car with stock shocks at 100k miles in the past for several years with no problem, but every car is different. It’s a calculated risk really.
Great vid man! Love to see love for the Q! They’re so under appreciated and absolutely awesome cars. For me, I’ve been a massive Z fan since I was really little and I needed something more practical and the Q indeed really walks the line between the Z and a practical sedan. ❤️
Quick question. First off love the videos and I finished with everything visually with my Q50 (chrome delete, lowering springs, rims, duckbill, diffuser) and now ordered all the parts for the exhaust that you have and I was wondering if I could get it all welded together without the test pipes for now and then bolt on the test pipes later on? I didn’t know if it all needed to be welded together at one time. Thank you!
good morning. another question for you. and thoughts on r1 concept geomet rotors. thought about getting these. thank you again for all your help and advice and awsome videos
I have a couple R1 rotor videos-install and review where I mention the geomet rotors. There really isn’t anything about them to justify the price increase over the eline rotors they offer. No weight reduction no performance improvement.
Hey man whats the difference between this specific brand of blacked out grill compared to the previous gloss black grill you installed a few months ago?
Hey I just bought a 2017 gray Q50. I want to buy a spoiler, should it be the same color as car or can I put the carbon fiber and then a black front splitter?
How do you feel about the touch screen display thinking about getting a q50 did some research and I’ve seen a few complaints about the touch screen display lagging
The front sway bar on the awd is already pretty substantial so it’s not really necessary, but I believe hotchkis does now offer a front bar for the awd.
Hearing that 3.7 rumble really brings back memories all though i absolutley love the seat shoving 450rwtq i get from my 3.0t, I’ll never argue the 3.7 sounds wayyy better, you got a clean set up.
Speed Culture Studios true that the difference is night and day i sometimes spin and break traction I gun it even at 30 mph at 2nd or 3rd gear very tail happy with no AWD
I think it is man. It definitely doesn’t hurt and it’s way better than the PCV delete option. These are also high revving, high compression engines so although NA we do still get some blow by.
@@SpeedCultureStudiosenjoying my afe filters. did you ever find that the air boxes don’t line up like they appear to be correctly lined up ? i replaced the clips on them cause they wouldn’t stay and hold the box together but there is a gap on both air boxes at the bottom of them and it appears as though they are supposed to be that way. i’ve heard a lot of people mention this but not sure how they are supposed to sit.
What do you consider “high mileage” for the lowering springs? I’ve got a G37x 115K and thinking about finally copping some springs. Good or bad idea, anyone?
The car is out of warranty just based on build date, but a warranty is through the manufacturer. They have to prove that a specific modification caused a specific malfunction.
@@SpeedCultureStudios okay that’s good , I don’t want to go to low with the car, an how are the springs holding up like how the ride in the car been ? I have been very hesitant with springs or coil overs I really don’t care to adjust them I just want them a little low but I don’t want a rough ride. What do you suggest?
If you're running e85 then both may be necessary. If you're running pump gas with just bolt ons and a tune--not necessary. I'm thinking about the 3.7 with this answer, of course.
Yo I have a 2017 Infiniti just bought the Jb4 tune & and a AMS heat exchanger , should I upgrade to bigger brakes ? or should I be fine with the stock brakes with just those 2 engine mods ? Im new to cars can someone help me out
Unless you do a lot of performance driving, the bigger brakes are purely aesthetic for most people. You will not feel a difference in braking in normal driving--despite what some people will try to tell you--but if you do a lot of track days or mountain driving, upgrading to the big brakes is a good idea. They do not help with stopping distance all that much, but they do resist brake fade and overheating better, which is important if really pushing the car.
I went from driving a 2016 Infiniti Q50 Premium to a 2017 q50 red sport. And I can honestly say the upgraded braking with the infiniti 4 piston calipers make a massive difference to braking. Not that the q50 premium was bad. But braking now I can literally stop on the dime. So I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that comment.
Whats the better investment, Q50 Or a Q50S I been looking for a sport but i cant find one thats under 35-40k which is not what im tryna spend on one . Is it worth it to keep waiting ?
I don’t see a reason for the additional cost of the S. Sounds like you’re looking at 3.0t, so if you’re talking performance, it’s definitely not worth because most people modify and tune anyway. If you’re planning on staying stock, might be worth waiting to get what you want out of the box.
@@christianalexander4010 it’s really up to you man. I have a 3.7 but chose the base over the sport because it’s lighter, doesn’t have the crappy dds suspension and I upgraded the paddles and brakes for less than the difference between the 2.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I love it man seriously a couple minor hickups barely though it’s smooth the double screens are gorgeous I’m just a fan and grew to be a bigger one since getting the car I will say tho I don’t like how squishy the break sometimes feels and how the screen sometimes lags but thoose are little also I hate that it doesn’t show mph on the screen on the dashboard only complaints it’s fast not insane but I can get to 120 without really trying can fill my tank for $45 and that’s premium the awd version is also a upgrade 2 in my opinion anyone looking to get into luxury cars definitely recommend a q50 2015 and up
@@scottmorrow3805 do any mods yet? I bought a new 2019 like 4 months ago and I’m also looking for mods so far all I did was get tints and the lights that shine on the floor and say “Infiniti” with the logo when you open the door. I definitely need a chrome delete and spoiler
Don’t recommend the radiator cap. If shot goes south you can blow the head gasket. Or loose coolant and Run car warmer. Had this happen to me with 2 of my cars with a higher pressure cap
Speed Culture Studios on all of my na cars adding more pressure to the cooling system lowers the life span of it. Not the coolant but the system itself.. there are places for the coolant to come out if the system has to much pressure such as the freeze plugs etc. Just by pressure, my coolant was in check but my car would over heat. I was like wtf, took everything apart because the plugs were leaking. Come to see it, it was the after market cap.. if you want better cooling adding more coolant capacity is a better option.. not necessarily a heat exchanger but an extra radiator. Like the frozen boost 118 would be wayyyy better in long run. ESP for cars which run auxiliary water pumps. It’s only $150.. check it out. By shit going south I meant, I just don’t recommend adding more pressure things can go back in the long run esp with these newer cars. Trust me brother, think about it long term. Maybe a year maybe more but it will happen
@@blacktopmedia Yeah I see what you're saying. I was just wondering if you had specific examples of things happening to you. This is good feedback. The higher pressure caps definitely seem to be more targeted toward people running higher water concentration or 100% water in their cooling system. Higher pressures can definitely lead to shorter life span of hoses etc. You bring up a good point!
You gotta check out my other vids - I have made my position on intakes very clear lol You’ll get the same performance from filters as you will with $500 intakes Best mods under $600-I could probably do that! But I have done a vid about the best $1000-1500 you could spend
The only things that really require a tune are test pipes and intakes. If you just do drop in filters and catback exhaust, no need for a tune. If you get intakes and test pipes, you will not benefit from the parts without a tune and the car may not run properly.
@@SpeedCultureStudios so do you got a video of everything you could put in your q50 to make it have better performance without a tune? If not can you reply back what i will have to put in my q50 to have better performance.
@@m0neySznGaming nothing lol. These cars are very refined from the factory so adding parts without a tune won’t do much for you. Upgraded air filters will help with throttle response a bit. Otherwise, the only way to get power is test pipes and a tune. You can focus on supporting mods like suspension, sway bars, subframe bushing collars, brakes etc to improve handling and more efficiently put the power that you do make directly to the ground
@@trinerejones6696 it can take awhile. I changed fluids and it took over a week to go off. Otherwise, you can Google search the replacement sensor. You’ll just have to get access to the washer fluid tank and replace it.
These are called the DR53 from a company called Drag Wheels. They have been supporting me and the channel since the very beginning. They are a light weight cast wheel--around 26lbs and they have performed well for me for nearly 2 years!
Sorry you're having issues. I just played the video back on my phone and laptop to check--Sounds perfect at about 50% on my phone and I'm at "30" (out of 100) on my laptop volume and it is actually a bit loud for the office--so i'd watch it at probably 15 if I was trying to be sneaky. Are you on an android? You may want to check your playback settings--sometimes vids play through the "ear piece" rather than the speaker. Aside from that, the video is almost 1.5 years old, so things have changed a little since then! Check out some of my new stuff! Thanks for watching!
They're in stock at Concept Z, but currently running $280. This is likely due to the pandemic as my Tanabe strut bar is back ordered with an estimated ship date of 9/24.
