every week is the right week to quit sugar! ...I've read in many books. Years ago I used to put sugar in my coffee, but I then I quit, so now I think I use that to excuse all of my other sugar consumption
Chef Buck Oh, I agree! My body feels better off it, I sleep much better, etc. Maybe you could do a video someday on natural substitutes for sugar in recipes. I had a brother-in-law once who was one of the attorneys fighting to keep NutraSweet off the shelves in the market, but they had better attorneys, I guess. But the stuff he told me about what it does to the human body... I won’t touch that stuff! A little sugar is OK on holidays though. Thanks for the great recipe! Say hi to Camera Girl! I made this yesterday as my contribution for dinner with 2 friends. I searched youtube for something with chocolate and cherries, for my host loves cherry pie, and making pies is outside my baking repretoir How fortunate to find a wheat-free, vegan dessert! Your chocolate cherry cake with a kick was a major hit with my hosts. The cake is light, the perfect amount of sweetness, and the cayenne pepper was the perfect kick. We 3 ate all but one piece which we split, and I finished my small piece this morning after breakfast. (Why not have dessert after any meal?) As a once-in-a-while (a.k.a. rare) baker, this easy recipe gave me a boost of confidence, and will likely be my go-to offering when contributing to dinner with friends. If 3 average size people can nearly polish off a 9" cake, I'll have to figure how to increase the recipe for larger groups. I wonder if it would work as a sheet cake? The presentation is quite pretty and looks like a pro made it. Shhh, don't tell. Thank you, @Cheff Buck!!
As I'm on a severely restricted carb diet for health reasons - this amazing looking cake (I adore cherries) will only ever remain a food porn fantasy for me. Sux.
I did a quick stop on this recipe. I love anything cherry flavor, cherry pie, etc. My mom made a similar cake but it was cake like brownies with cherries on top and whip cream after brownies cake is baked. It was always heart shaped for special occasion.

The vinegar doesn't leave a taste at all in the cake, but you can leave it out, or substitute lemon juice instead...the acid interacts with the baking soda to make the cake less dense

Looks incredible!! Never tried adding chilli powder in cakes but I ll try your recipe. Just wondering if you used fresh cherries and whether you pit them first? The cherry topping does make the cake look really fancy. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
when we were in Mexico we had quite a few chocolate dishes paired with hot peppers, and we really enjoyed the combo. If using fresh cherries, you'll definitely want to pit them for this recipe. I like the dark frozen cherries we use in this video...they're nice to have in the freezer...perfect to add to oatmeal or a smoothie

one of my favorite desserts is a gluten free cake made with garbanzo beans, but I like to add quite a few milk chocolate chips to the recipe, so it's not dairy free

it is very tasty...at this time we have two little slices of cake left, and hopefully we'll eat those today and NOT bake another one this weekend...there just isn't enough people in this house to justify all the baking we've been doing :^)

this cake does remind me of something you'd see on display at a fancy bakery, but it's crazy easy to make. Baking definitely isn't my strength in the kitchen, so I'm always happy when I find an easy recipe that looks like it was hard to make, but wasn't.

I would recommend saying how much of each ingredient when you are mixing them all. I had to have 2 RU-vid windows open to follow the right amounts of everything.
