This song makes me realize how similar both the bands and the lead singers are. Both are very different in some aspects but also very similar.

I would love to see Starset collaborate with Red (who is my all time favorite band). They were just on tour together so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve already talked about collaborating. Red has also collaborated with Breaking Benjamin as well so maybe we’ll get a collab with all 3!

I think this new version really did the song more justice, especially once you put into perspective the visualiser and the added orchestral elements. The overall message is to not constantly wait for opportunity when it'll most likely never come. It's through sheer will and determination that you can accomplish much more than you believe. The astronaut can't just wait for help to rescue them, so they took that leap forward. The end part was so beautiful in that they discovered what it means to conquer the unknown, as well as themselves. A defiance against doubt and uncertainty with what's hardly understood to them. They knew the abyss stared back, yet they were unshaken. It's simple yet incredible. I'm kinda shocked to hear people say "it's not heavy enough" or "there wasn't enough Breaking Benjamin in it" so it's disappointing to them. I think it's just heavy enough as an empowerment track, with Dustin and Ben sounding like two long lost brothers reunited. It's amazing. As for people who prefer the original, I'm just happy that two versions of this exist at all. I love seeing how bands change with their music style. It's why I adore both versions of Dark on Me. It's basically a reimagining. To any who bothered to read this, I'm sincerely thankful for your time! I'm just here being passionate with my thoughts on things I love these days. Starset is certainly one of them. Reach those Horizons everyone, and be safe doing so!! 🤘😊

When I heard this song on the radio I honestly thought it was just a breaking Ben song and when I looked it up on RU-vid I saw it was Duet with Breaking Ben and Starset and I about lost my mind. I love both of these bands and they both helped me through some dark times and still do!

Man I was there for the premiere and I fucking BOPPED. Though I agree that Dustin and Benjamin's vocals sound very similar, it took me hunting down the lyrics in the comments to realize that Dustin was singing with someone else-

Not an ounce of disappointment here! It was a perfect song to redo and a great mix of both bands. On repeat for sure! 99% of what I read has been nothing but love for the song. I wonder if it was a bit over hyped? So some people might have been set up to be disappointed?

Vessels is probably my favorite album of starset and i love uow this song gives off the same kind of vibe as vessels does. Its absolutely great

I agree. I think that Horizons is a great album and really important for all the ongoing experimentation that Dustin clearly has a knack for. But this is an awesome return to form. Give me a darker album now, Starset. Heavier, stranger album with badass synths and great screams. I want it

From the perspective of a HUGE breaking Benjamin fan and even a little bit of a Starset fan, this song was AMAZING. Some of the BB fans tho when the song first came out said Ben had no time in the song…and I was sitting there like he sang the entire second verse, chorus, was in the breakdown and the end! Like yes their voices are similar but I’ve been listening to BB for 8 years now I recognize Benjamin burnley when I hear him 😂 so idk what they were on about.

Pretty sure it sounded like Ben screaming on the ends of the chorus too.

I've been a fan of starset since carnivore/my demons came out and played on the radio back in 2014. so happy with how they've been progressing! edited to add that I totally agree with you about this being better than Horizons. there are a few songs on that album I really love but the rest is a behind their other albums for me.

I feel that the chorus was better and more emotional in the original version. It feels a bit monotonous in this new version with all the effects on dustin's voice.

As a longtime Starset/Downplay fan, I do think the Downplay version is generally better (though this version is really good as well! lol). I think the main thing is that they went a bit TOO overboard with the orchestrals/electronics this time around (plus Dustin just downright sounded better on the original, for some reason their performance on this version was a bit lacking in comparison, though still great!). The Downplay version is more straight-forward rock vs this much darker/heavier? feeling version, and I feel it lets the vocals/instrumentation/songwriting really shine better. I LOVE a lot of the aspects of the orchestration and stuff here (the slightly delayed 2nd chorus was FANTASTIC, and Ben sounded GREAT on the pre-chorus and chorus), but other parts just feel like a bit too much for me personally. I'm not sure if that's why others were disappointed, but for me it was just a bit too heavy on the strings, and this version feeling darker than necessary, really.

I won't deny horizons did miss the harsh vocals, and grit Dustin would put in vessels and transmissions hope they bring. It back for their their next album
