As always, I ended up solving my edc issues watching your channel. Due to changing health issues I'm now "medically retired" for the foreseeable future. I wear a lot more draw string pants and shorts these days. No belt for my fixed blade. I've thought about under shirt suspenders with arm pit carry fixed blade stuff, but that Pocket Sheath......I've never seen that before. There it is. The solution to my issues. Thank you. I can't stop carrying the edc stuff. This medical crap was just the end result of 19 years behind a badge. But you can't shake good habits. And being prepared.....thats a damn good habit. I'm straight up gonna look into pocket sheath knives now. And probably converting my old ones into versions of it. Thanks......
Though probably not in stock, SMKW does carry pocket watches and Zippos. I understand you'd never use that fifth pocket for such a purpose, but some of us still do. They may not carry watches, but they do have small button compasses. You kids like yer spinner toys and pocket garbage. Why not fidget a compass and learn how to use it. I get it. Every now/agin a $300 pocket knife is kinda sharp (hah) to have and hold but, maybe once focus on practical EDC. Maybe one for the ladies. Hell, they're out there. Diatribe part deux - who can you talk to at one of those expens-o-pen companies to make a pen/pencil combo? Something like a Pentel Vicuna or the like, only more expensive, ya know, like they do! Some of us also still like to take notes and scetch. Timepiece, SAK, Torche, Writer and Flame. Anything more than these five is personal preference. These are the five any man worth anything should ponder.....papa wasn't wrong!
I'm less than half an hour away and it's awesome to visit now and then but it's crowded and the employees look exhausted most of the time. In store stock has been low in recent years.
@@sheldongiles7408 stock being low has definitely been an issue. I can’t say that about the staff tho as they hire many seniors. When you get to be 60 years old or more you don’t look or move like a spring chicken anymore! lol
Rite in rain wallet and notebook about 20 bucks Boker kalishnakov usually sell for about 50 dollars Milwaukee inkzall marker fine tip Like 3 dollars Rebar multitool $80 dollars And you can get a mini mole satchel bag for 10-40 bucks as well
5 out of 10. The light ruined it, I can see why you’d pick it given the constraints and the multiple functions. But that diffuser I can see being lost or broken in about an hour.
I would do Kizer Smolt $69, Vosteed Chipmunk $60, Victorinox Fieldmaster $36, NarwhalCo micro pen 2 pack $15, Rovyvon Aurora A3 $21, Anker portable charger (power bank) $20, Camptek Carabiners 6 pack $8, and Maxpedition micro pocket organizer $20 to put my all things in.
That MKM is the Makro 2 not 1 (1 is the DP version) I picked one up used recently (for $75) and have been carrying it. I've been eyeing since I first came across it well over a year ago but wasn't able to convince myself to spend $150 on it.
@@TheArmySeal I'm really liking it. If I knew that I'd like it as much as I do I would have picked it up a while ago. The sheath is wearing from where the blade has hit it when I didn't quite position the knife correctly to. The magnet works a lot better than I expected to keep the sheath in the pocket.
The first nice knife I ever got what's from Smoky Mountain Knife Works. It was a p.m. to with exclusive scales. That was almost 3 years ago and I still carry it. Highly recommend
No scissors? Naaaa sorry it’s not a compete edc. Could’ve had the midnight manager and had the pen, scissors, and backup light and left more money for other stuff 😫
Great video/content ! I picked up the Arena-accessories “routine” fixed blade knife! Horizontal carry has been a game changer! The quality of the knife and sheath are Fantastic! -Nate (Ohio) 💪🇺🇸☝️✝️
No one needs a 30$ pen in their EDC... Just carry a normal 25cent pen on ya and put that 30$ towards a better multitool, maybe one with a bit driver. I also would drop the price of the knife and go with something in the 75-100$ price range. You then could add a decent key organizer, or small shoulder bag to hold more things.
I live just 45 minutes from Smokey mountain knife works, it takes every fiber of my being not to skip on over there and blow my paycheck every weekend xD.
800mah "that's probably half a charge" ummmm nope lol, cell phones are running 5000-6000mah and larger packs. 800mah pack your getting about 600mah avaliable for dump so it's more like 1/8 to 1/10 of a charge and that's assuming the LVC on the 800mah pack isn't cutting the charge off at like 3.7v. Basically it's enough to get you a a few calls if it was an emergency and your phone was dead but that's about it...
Dude what day were you down there filming? My family and I were just down in the smokies for vacation from Illinois and I dragged them over to smkw. Such an amazing place I was overwhelmed with the choices! Ended up picking up a victorinox hiker with Bigfoot design. Great video!
I like the Fenix E-Spark just for being a very flat, compact flashlight AND charger. Lately I'm trying to slim down the EDC items in a bag with lots of a slit pockets, so that shape and size are great.
One of my prev ofcs who now is head of another swat team in a diff ao, he follows you and mentioned your comment about coast and cheap lighting haha. He dumped his fancy stuff, and went to home depot, got a coast pen light 500L usbc, and a thicker aa one at 400L. A dewalt knife as all the milwaukee fb's the same size were gone, they apparently only had the smaller one, and the hooked looking one. He got a gerber suspension multitool. No wallet, next budget place to go was ROSS. He got a blocking wallet. 3pk notebooks and package of gel pens and sharpies. columbia 18oz bottle, impact gloves, sunglasses, a fox motorsports hat, watch is a casio gshock blk that ross had in glass case, he also picked up a JBL clip speaker, and a jansport sling bag in xpac, and jansport pro pack, which online that pro pack looks about 129, he got that at ross for 39. xpac sling was 9.99 iirc. Hes been using his lights and everything pretty hard for the short while, hes aiming to see if they are really junk (coast lights), or if they are budget and quality edc stuff. We are planning a trip to SMKW, he has never been there!
Hogue by far is the best USA knife company, their models, the pricing, but it’s the quality and fit and finish are far above many other companies, especially BM.
This is a sweet setup. The tinker is cool and really useful but I would have gone with something with pliers and/or scissors. Power pint ideally - but the gerber dime or a SAK with scissors would be just a little more useful. You guys passed on the manager for a pen - I rarely use a pen so that would have been great for me and the little screw driver on the manager/rambler is actually pretty awesome and then you'd have your scissors and a file too.
I have carried a signature lite on my keys for the last decade. Having a small light and pen function on a Swiss Army knife that’s essentially a slightly thicker Swiss classic is hard to beat.
I’m good with tinker, screw the pen and light. I’d have gotten a zippo lighter and a solid fixed blade. For the light fenix is the best but I’d get a dedicated light. They do however make a great pen with a light that works great if you just have to have a pen. Condor makes some awesome and affordable blades that would have been perfect and well under budget.
Not sure why all the hate on serrated knives. Back in the day when I was in the Army, I bought a "Rambo" knive for field use. Everytime we went out in the field everyone was wanting to use it because the serrations made it much easier to cut everything. From tree branches to rope or anything else, nothing can touch a serrated blade.
