Evaporated milk is fresh milk that has been heated so that around 60% of the water content evaporates. After it's evaporated, it's homogenized, canned and then goes through a heat sterilization treatment that is part of the canning process. ( according to Google).
Is Not a comment, I have a question ? I have listened a couple of times and followed the transcript, What temperature was the crock pot set for ? High or Low ? Because, I just didn't hear it.......
I love your quick video. I haven't finished watching it, still laughing at the fact that the evaporated milk should just be air, so funny. When I am done laughing, I will continue watching your video. Thanks for the comic relief.
Girl!!! Let me tell ya!! I made this today for the first time and it was an absolute hit!!! I literally will not make it any other way from here on out! It was that good. The only thing I did different was I did cook my noodles for about four minutes before putting them in the crockpot.❤
I like using a jar of Garlic Parmesan Alfredo sauce along with the milk in my Mac and Cheese. I bet that would be a good substitute for the evaporated milk!
Love all your vids you make cooking fun gonna try this one tomorrow oh and evaporated milk is you mix it with water to make milk to drink thanks u keep them coming ill keep trying them
Very similar to the New York Times Mac and Cheese recipe I have been making for years. Uses dry pasta and saves the step of cooking the pasta and it absorbs the flavors of the milk and cheese instead.. I have to try your crockpot recipe and adding cream cheese must set it over the top.
I went off script a little, i used sour cream instead of cream cheese. But it still turned out amazing! I also threw in some Mexican spiced ground beef. Thanks for the tutorial 😊.
Evaporated milk has less water to make it hold for a long time in tin‘s, was invented in the 19th century for the lack of fridge’s, but I like the recipe, will definitely try yours ❤
Just yesterday, I made this Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese with Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese, and some Smoked Paprika and Taco Seasoning, just for my Mom, Tebletse Tedla, to taste. After I served my Mom some Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese yesterday, my Mom told me that she loved the Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese that I made yesterday.
Hi I have to thank you for this dish my grandkids just love it and I love your video and recipes do you have any other crockpot dinners for chicken or pork chops. Cathy
So question. You said that you have to shred your own cheese for the shredded cheese part? Do you have to use a grater for that? And do you use the slices of cheese or do you use a block and do you use a greater? And if you do shredded with a grater, how do you know how many cups you’re putting in there. Let me know if this makes sense. I assume this is a little bit confusing for you lol.
Before there were food processors, people used hand-held graters. A trick is to buy (whatever sized block cheese), put it in the freezer for 10 minutes, shred and eye ball the amount, then add to your measuring cup to get the right amount.
I finally made this. I was looking forward to eating it. I decided to add diced ham. I took my 1st bite. I realized I used condensed and not evaporated milk 😂 it was a little sweet..opps
Table salt that we have used for far too long is only like 10% real salt. The rest is a bunch of chemicals and artificial flavors. Pink himalayan salt is 100% salt.
I have made this several times. Kirsten, pre-shredded packaged cheese is NOT filled with *chemicals! Potato starch is natural and is added to prevent caking. I use it exclusively, and you are wrong to say "it don't melt right." Also, your use of garlic is disgusting! It doesn't belong in Mac and cheese. Lastly, you go overboard with adding salt... read your labels girl, its already in the macaroni, and ALL the cheeses, not to mention salt is bad for the ❤.
