You and Lesley the bird nerd are the best and I also love the end where the silver vehicle gets painted I have found that my white vehicles and silver sometimes get the same treatment 😉

I don't get much time to watch videos on youtube but getting a chance to watch this video this morning was awesome! I absolutely enjoyed your birding journey. The little tidbits of information you give about each of the birds you see along the way are perfect and helpful. I think you two are going to do great with this channel. Great job!

I love your videos and am just catching up on some older ones. This one was delightful. I enjoy your unabashed enthusiasm for birding and elation at chasing then seeing an elusive rarity. The highlight for me, in this video, was the Whooping Cranes and Horican Marsh. I’m in Huntington Beach CA, so Horican is new to me. Nice! I do have an issue though with your early commentary on the Golden-crowned Sparrow. You do know that most true sparrows, certainly Zonotrichia genus, are not sexually dimorphic. They do vary seasonally though. The winter adult GCSP has a very dull muted crown pattern changing to sharp black stripes flanking a bright yellow center crown strip in full breeding plumage. Immature / first winter birds are dull as well. A similar misidentification sometimes occurs with White-crowned Sparrows as well. (Another Zonotrichia.) It’s an adult if it has a white and black crown stripes, it’s an immature if it has tan and brown crown stripes. They’re not sexually dimorphic. Keep us the great work. It’s a treat for me to see birding in the Midwest and Texas and Louisiana. I learn a lot from your forays. Thanks also for the more recent ones on birdsongs and calls. Very helpful. Sound is HARD to learn. Thank you, always!

That's a great run, for sure - CONGRATS! A few tagged Whooping Cranes visit Michigan annually, but unfortunately the Michigan Bird Records Committee has not yet added Whooping Crane to our official state list, making the FL-MI migratory population not-countable in our state.

You should someday share about how you two siblings became burgers and whether your parents had any influence

Haha I’m hoping you mean birders* and not “burgers”, but yeah we can definitely do that sometime!

I called it it the fact that it was a golden crowned sparrow. We get them here in Oregon.

Would be interested in a video on how you guys got started in birding! Also, what other species are on your life list?
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 4 года назад
SpiderCenturion we were always into animals growing up, and when we were young we would watch the birds in our grandparent’s yard (nuthatches, cardinals, etc...) and then we watched “The Big Year” and were like “people actually do this?” We decided to give it a try and got hooked. We’ve been birding ever since. Some cool species (some that are just rare for Wisconsin) on our life lists are (Derek) Grenada Dove (Critically Endangered), Gyrfalcon, Boreal Owl, Fork-tailed Flycatcher, Great Tit, Long-eared Owl, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Summer Tanager, Gray-crowned Rosy Finch, Lewis’s Woodpecker, and a bunch more.

SpiderCenturion also just realized you said “in a video”. Will definitely take it into consideration! :)

The Marsh ROCKS! Too bad the bird festival was canceled this year due to Covid-19. Zeigler Park (In Mayville) on the shores of the Rock River is a great place for many warblers during spring migration.

What an insane big day, I would totally call it quits after the whooping crane! Hard to top that. I too have had trouble capturing good audio while out birding...
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 4 года назад
let's go birding it was so much fun! We found the audio on our new cameras (Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ80) is significantly worse at capturing voices than the previous FZ70 model so we’re working on finding a way to make it more clear for future videos.

"You would think birds would like us, but no." Lol! I have told my wife that exact same thing, for the same reason. Only we (used to) buy bags of bird feed every week, and chase the cats away. Well, we still chase the cats.
