There's actually chickens cubes and vegetables in it AND its below $2 for a 12oz can compare to other brands that look like spam when you open it and are priced on avg. $2.25. I regret buying a 30lb bag of pedigree dry food but as soon as my pup is finished with it I'm only feeding he1r a combinations of Pure Balance and home cooked meals.

I use the chicken and rice one for my Doberman. I use their wet food as well for a topper, but I like to buy occasionally ground turkey, Chicken, or beef, Gizzards, heart, and liver.

I am trying Pure Balance pro mixed with Pure Balance chicken and brown rice. Sadly my freaking cats are eating the dogs food which is expensive.

I do agree with you, but the issue I have is there is a lack of a middle ground. Any decent food is super expensive, and middle of the road food that's not the best is also super expensive lol. The cheap affordable foods usually have no actual meat and it's all meat meal instead. This is a problem in the UK and it seems similar in the US. I just want, say, a 10kg bag for about £30-£40 that have a decent but not super high meat content. Working dog food is tax free so that's usually a good deal. Got a 15kg of cold pressed food, for a little over £50 (about $60), which is still expensive but a good deal compared to other foods

​@john gaulding Pedigree works, but it's not the best. Animals husbandry has naturally changed a lot since then and we know a lot more. Also, longevity isn't necessarily a sign of good health. But I'm really happy your dogs lived long lives!

when you're on a budget you do what you can! my dogs always got Purina. I know it's like ramen, but it's what I can afford! same with ramen!

First, I don't think you need to have credentials in animal nutrition to share basic food recommendations. A disclaimer is always nice though. But mainly this is the best foods you can buy at Walmart. Everything there is filled with fillers. I'm sure that lentils and chickpeas are better than corn, wheat, and sketchy by-products as the first ingredients.

From what I had read homemade food sometimes is not better, and lacking in vitamins and other proteins like heart and liver.

I’m in the same boat. I saw this short and I chose to dig deeper about jinx and they seem to be a lot better than the other brands that Trevon mentions. My little girls seem to like it. It’s what we can afford to feed them right now. Luna is a 6 mo chihuahua terrier mix and Bella is a 14 mo chiweenie. I’m not switching for a while until we can afford some more expensive food.

Purina is owned by Nestle, Nestle owns more veterinary offices than any other corporation or conglomerate on the planet, THAT is why they supposedly meet some unheard of guideline. Please do more research for the sake of your pet.

@@OldskoolHiFi When every other food on the market has irritated my dogs allergies, some to the point of scratching her face raw even, I’m good. I would much rather stick to something that I know works for my dogs than to put her (the one with allergies) through more trial and error filled with stomach issues, severe allergy flare ups, vomiting on occasion, etc. What on their list of ingredients makes you think that they aren’t a good quality food exactly aside from the fact that they come from a brand you dislike or think isn’t credible?

@@skellie4580 First, I'm glad it is working for you, but it is still considered subpar for several reasons. The manufacturing process is a big part of it. Sourcing is downright questionable, when it says "Sourced globally" that almost always means China, you really don't know where these ingredients are coming from. A class action lawsuit out of Missouri claims Nestle Purina PetCare Company knowingly sold pet food products that contained glyphosate, a known carcinogen. Furthermore the process used to make the food using high temperatures basically cooks all of the natural vitamins right out of the product, meaning they need to add back synthetic vitamins to try and meat AAFCO standards. (This is very common, and sort of what makes kibble a bad option, but there are a few exceptions out there) There are also several lawsuits where many pets have died due to mistakes made while adding these synthetic vitamin packs. Ingredient splitting is another deceptive way this company will trick buyers. You can also use what is called the salt divider to see where a certain food stands with ingredients. I would encourage you to look these terms up and see for yourself. Bottom line, when you have a profit driven mega corporation and a whole lot of ingredients that you can't pronounce, it should be cause for concern. You obviously have good intentions, and I have been where you are now, but curiosity took me down a dark rabbit hole of information that these companies simply don't want you to know about. It's all out there in the open you just have to take the time to look. If you would like a place to start I would recommend Dan Scott or Rachel Fusaro on RU-vid, as they have been outspoken about much this. Best of luck, and I wish your dog good health.

Thrt brand is not nutritional, too much fat and that is a problem for dogs. I use Dr. Harveys dehydrated foods and add cooked chicken or beef you have eto buy online but other options will be Honest kitchen for dogs or open farms

I use to feed that to my dog, he started having issues with it and refused to eat it. They changed something in that food

Pure Balance used to be solid 5-6 years ago. I feel like now they cheaped out on the ingredients to cut costs

Try Dr. harveys Raw Vibrance just add cooked protein ( I use cooked boiled chicken that I prepare in the intanrt por and freeze by portions to add later to the mix.

It's decent. Diamond company also makes Taste of the Wild and Costco dog food. Taste of the wild is there top of the line

Smaller stores like that just have regular kibble so not sure what better that will be. If you can name some brands people can buy online and with good ingredients then name it if not. Keep it to yourself honestly.

@@chrisd5758 In all honesty kibble is not a great option regardless, it's a relatively new option (last 100 years or so) born out of convenience and affordability. Raw, either frozen or freeze dried made up with whole foods and no synthetic vitamins, commercial or homemade, will always be the best option. If your lifestyle absolutely demands something convenient like kibble then there are really only a few options. Carna4 and Natures Logic are both all natural kibbles without synthetic vitamins and LESS Carbs. They are able to achieve this by using whole food ingredients and a lower temperature drying process that does not cook all of the nutrients out of the food like 98% of other kibbles. Companies like Nutri Source and N & D by Farmina are very good when it comes to ingredients and sourcing but do still add some synthetic vitamins back in. With any kibble you should add goats milk or bone broth to help add some moisture. When you see class action lawsuits due to excessive pet deaths it is usually due to a synthetic vitamin pack that was produced incorrectly, just google them and you will see several. One last thing to keep in mind. Both mega corporations Nestle and Mars inc. own over 50 of the various pet food names and subsequently also own more veterinarian offices than any other single conglomerate... think on that for a moment.

Well yes, but legumes are better than corn and wheat in all the other foods at Walmart. Some people who have dogs can only afford Walmart dog foods. This is kind of the best of the worst situation. There are always great ways to enhance kibble too though
