how did you get it to fit?! I have a 2003 540i msport and fitment for these Eonon is listed as only 97-2002. The 2003 plug is different and it seems like the brackets to install properly into the actual dash won't work.

@@moneyman8772 could it be that you have factory DSP? i think i remember reading that they have dsp and non dsp models. Mine had no DSP was plug in

It comes with steering controls out of the box! No can-bus adapter needed.

It came with the head unit, some basic camera with vga output, the head unit stores the footage!

You have to buy an extra adapter, but the one that I have supports it! I haven't tried it yet but I'll probably get it one day

I think when I've had issues installing android radios like these, it usually comes down to a signal wire being in the wrong place. Triple check your wiring, and make sure you have the right harness to fit your car, good luck!

Have yet to install the cameras, but that's coming soon. If you have a sedan, you can use a camera that's built into the trunk handle (amzn.to/3DlFu3N -aff). Startup time is about 20-30 sec, but after that the unit is pretty responsive, and has all the features you could need. I mainly use mine for bluetooth audio (great quality sound btw) and GPS speed through Ulysse speedometer.

Yes! It comes with bluetooth, but you can also buy a separate carplay adapter and that will work as well!

I'm not quite sure, you could try reaching out to the Eonon support team, they might be able to help you out. That, or try getting the I-bus module. Wish I could help more, good luck!

Yeah! All of those work because of the canbus decoder that comes with the kit :)

Bad connection? or could be coincidence, maybe try installing one from another car. My AC module went bad randomly on my E53 X5 the other day, had to grab one from the junkyard and swap it in, problem solved! Thanks for watching, good luck!

Good question, I just checked and this is NOT Google Play Certified. So far hasn't affected my use, but it is unfortunate!

Pretty sure I used the oem screws to hold them in, or it came with some too I think.

@@TheBimmerBarn thank you for your answer! I took the ones that said ”remove the screw before installing”. It’s not perfect but i think it will stay in place

Hmm, not sure if you could damage the DME. The safest way to do any electrical work is with the battery unplugged, but shouldn't be necessary for this install.

The E53 series? I believe so, but the brackets might need to be modified or it may not fit perfectly. I think Eonon also has a E53 specific radio!

@@TheBimmerBarn no, I haven't but I've seen it in action in my friend's car. It offers nice features for the money it costs. If i were to buy Android radio, I would buy iBus as well. In fact all the benefits Android offers are just a gimmick and are nice to have.

Correct! Plug-n-play, you can even add in multiple other High/Low speakers using the output. Lots of customization possible.

@@patrickrice6752 I'm sure it's possible, I'm no expert in audio systems but you can find the manual online for this radio to confirm if it will work with the setup you have in mind. Search "User manual Eonon GA9449"

Yes yes yes! Just make sure you have the correct radio, they have pictures to show you which cars work plug and play, and which cars need an additional adapter harness.

You're probably going to have to route the wire to one side of the car, then run it from the dashboard, down to under the carpet, and run along the side until you reach the rear seats. Then with fold down seats its easy to slip it in somewhere, with standard seat you may have to unbolt them and find a hole to route through. Good luck! I've never done it so let us know how it goes.

Certain E39's had a navigation radio or factory DSP, and in that case I think you need to order an adapter harness separately to make it work!

Yes it will! It's made for stock speakers, and the quality of sound is much better with this unit! Worth the upgrade for sure.

If you buy a separate adapter for it you can connect via Carplay, yes!

Andrew, Amazon link added in the description, and thanks for joining the community! Other good solutions would be the Dynavin head unit ($$) or getting the double din adapter and a Kenwood unit ($$$). Different solutions for different goals/budgets!

Was your radio working before? If not, you may have faulty amp. Otherwise, make sure you have the right adapter for your harness, read the instructions, and check the fuses (one on the unit, and ones in your car).

@@TheBimmerBarn hello I have bought the same unit for my 1998 E39 528I, the radio and the connections are the same as in the video, but there is no sound in the speakers, any ideas or suggestions?

@@rivascostaj I'd follow the same advice as I gave above. Was the radio working before? If not, go check your amp. Check fuses too, good luck!

Hmm I'd reference the user manual and make sure your wiring is correct, and then make sure everything is getting power for ignition, accessory, etc at the radio and amplifier.

Does the fm radio work, or does it make any other sound? You have to open the "A2DP" which shows the track playing in order for it to play the audio. Check your connections, and good luck!

@@paganiluv9552 No, you can download offline maps inside the Google maps app, and there's other GPS apps available that work completely offline. You can also Hotspot with your phone if you want wifi on the radio.

@@TheBimmerBarn but if I don't have a Hotspot and want to use Waze for navigation, then is the dongle needed? Some apps seems sketchy for it

@@tedward7704 the 2 usb's coming out together are for cameras, the single USB is for carplay

Yes! Some models have upgraded sound systems which require an additional adapter, but it will work with any E39.

@@TheBimmerBarn when you say additional adapter do you mean the extended harness by any chance? I have the similar plug to the one you used, I ordered the unit already and also ordered the extended harness just in case I needed it, thanks for responding!!

@@pdcichosz I’m proud of being on a different plane. You implied that I was sacrificing audio quality. Yes it is a single Bluetooth speaker but it’s not junk. I feel I get the kind of audio quality anyone should need in a car. Not everyone would agree. I still don’t understand why people would feel the need to install this kind of thing in an E39.

@@cglaurer there's nothing wrong with being on a different plane ;) But feeling that you get the kind of audio quality 'anyone should need in a car' implies you do after all think that what suits you should suit everyone. Even considering just the diversity of sensitivity to sound between humans makes it... let's just say a bit optimistic ;) And that's before you realize that many people are not keen on strapping a pretty heavy object to the dashboard or wherever else you put it, or just having it lying somewhere. And that one bt speaker, no matter how decent, won't provide a uniform experience to every passenger. And that, although digital trickery can offset many downsides of physical setups nowadays, there's a reason high-end audio relies on many individual speakers. Most people probably don't need 23-speaker Mark Levinson or some Burmester but it's not insane to aim higher than a bt speaker, seriously ;)
