The positive display version of this watch is the GW-M5610 with no suffix. I agree that a positive display is preferable because it is easier to read in daylight. The tradeoff is that my version comes with red trim, and is less "adult" looking than the 1B version. From pictures, videos, and reviews, I thought this watch was butt ugly and that it would wear too large for my man baby wrist. I still think it is an ugly duckling, but it is unparalleled in terms of it's functionality, durability, utility, and fit for purpose. No one will ever mug me for this watch. It always tells the correct atomic time. It has a very useful alarm feature. It fits much smaller than the case diameter suggests as the lug to lug is short. The biggest downside to the square g-shock is the crappy strap, which is too long for my baby man wrist, and is a bit stiff. Eventually I hope to get a Bart & Kay's adapter so I can use an MN style strap on it for ultimate comfort. I used to live in a hollow and could not receive the radio signal from Ft. Collins. I used the Junghans android ap to set my watch to local atomic time. If you live in a region with no atomic radio signal, you may prefer a bluetooth capable g-shock which will permit you to sync time with your smart phone, computer, or tablet. The Casio ap looks easier to use than the heirarchical menu buttons on the watch itself, particularly for alarms.
