Thanks, John! Your skill, explanations and patience could have saved me years in trying to pass high school and college math courses 😊. For ANY student watching this…it’s the easiest and most straight forward algebra ed you’ll probably ever get. Don’t be ashamed to go back over your basic adding/subtracting/multiplying and dividing refreshers if you get stuck. This WILL serve you in the future, even if it’s hard to believe right now.

I would donate but I'm 73 on SS since I was 62. So I do not get 100% SS. Thank you for your comment. I agree with you, and as he said cell phones can be distracting.

I'm 54 years old and I am so glad that this type of learning is available, because I was the guy who was distracted by the 80's version of the cell phone 😆. Thank you for your time and effort!

Working on an Associate Degree and its been decades since I had to do math like this. Im taking a remedial math class in college, but the instructor had me super confused. Thank you for your awesome videos!

Thank you very much! ... I was never taught this "hack" in my Algebra courses. But now that I know, it'll make factoring much easier and with much more certainty. 👍

The example polynomial used for case 2 at start of video ( 3y power2 + 8y +11) is not solvable using the method that follows in this video. This could cause confusion. No real solution, but can be done using complex no.s

Since the last term is positive, both signs will be the same and will be the same as the middle term so no need to consider the negative factors in this question, which will halve your options.
@juliafoster9433
@juliafoster9433 Год назад
Agreed. I wasn’t taught to factor this way (a/c method ) and I did not teach it until my last few years of teaching. I like the guess and check method, but this a/c method makes factoring trinomials with large coefficients easier.

What do you know? I'm better at solving for "x" at the end than I am at factoring. I stumbled with the "group factoring" part. But I'll get there! :) Practice, practice.

5:10 x^2 - 5x + 10 cannot be factored? how do you factor it when there are no two numbers which in sum make -5 and in multiplication make 10?

Nicely done. Good to see several examples completed. You might leave a problem or two for the student to try on their own. Maybe you leave just the answers so they can verify the problem was completed correctly. Thanks.

I will just use the quadratic equation. At first glance the last term is +8 and middle term is +10. If i use -4 and -2 to get positive 8, then the middle term will be negative. For this problem i have no choice but use the quadratic equation.
