I think as I use your follow along videos, I'll use my cheap go to skin from Amazon but as I get closer to tattooing real people, I'll definitely invest in using reel skin. It'll be a bit of a reward for myself!
Yes! While I am a noob at tattooing, I saw 2 videos the other day where both guys were saying don't use the cheap stuff at all. I thought to myself... But if it's thin it's great for needle depth control and learning different pressures controls since not all skin is the same. It made no sense to me. I hope more people see your video that those others. This is honest and true. Thank you.
Currently as a starter rn. I literally went from the cheap Amazon skin to just my skins I know I already draw good and cause copy great. So if I feel on the fence about a certain tattoo im about to do. I just do a practice run on the fake then the next day I’ll do my self.
thanks so much for this video! I just started learning and I got a bunch of the rubbery skins it's been a pain not only to clean but to accurately see if I'm getting better or not since it seems really hard to pack ink and my lines are streaky but now I know it could be mainly the skins I'm using, I'll definitely be getting some better skins now to practice.
So i made the mistake or buying the 1mm thin rubber-like fake skin . When practicing needle depth , how deep should the ink be placed into the skin of both the fake skin and human skin ?

Wow!, didnt realise there was such a difference in practice skins. Showing the differences between the 1mm and 3mm was very helpful. Im just learning so will buy some of each to get my levels right. Thank you for the very informative and helpful videos #DanielYuck
That’s a good question! I think that question would be fully subjective and it will be based upon what you as the artist wants. I would recommend a skin that accepts shading well such as the reelskin. If I was wanting to do that style of tattooing I would go with reelskin. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions at all, I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝
I bought the silicone skin and running my volts at 9.5, going slow, and the line is not bold. I always have to go over it softly again…is that normal? I’ll pump the volts to 10 and not hold and I feel like my volts are too high. I’m going in deep enough so it won’t blow out, my hand speed is slow…but I hate how I can’t get that one pass bold line.
Hello, thank you very much for sharing Do you use so many kinds of simulation skins? Is there any kind of feeling closest to human skin? I would appreciate it if you would share the link
Another awesome video brother i am looking at upgrading my tattoo gun from coil to a rotary pen which one would you recommend and do i need 2 as with coil guns you need one for lines and shading ?
I actually covered this topic in depth on human skin . I will link you to the videos that I made on blow outs.
