In 1995 i found a ring on a beach . It was gold with a green stone . After 1 year it was sent to me the the local police station, no one had claimed it, my bestie loved it when she saw it and offered me $100 for it, turned out it was a 4 carat green diamond its value was 17K . She still has it now
Damn that actually kind of sucks you didn't keep it but atleast you found it for free, and sold it off so at the end of the day you got some bucks off it
@@alyssathiessen4913 I have lots of really cool things. I like relics and have been lucky enough to find a few undetected pots in my little town. The best jewellery has come from a spot where the locals used to do most of their swimming and washing in the old days.
I detected for 1 year and as I got closer to the 1 year mark I kept finding more and more silver and junk rings until I found a nice thick 14k white gold wedding ring. It was soooo much dopamine released after a year of work and dreaming of finding gold with every swing.
Pardon the late question, we just moved to an area with beaches. On our cheap detector, pull tabs and gold usually come up in the 40's. Same on the Equinox 900? Also - what scoop is that? Many thanks for your video - it helps with ideas to handle huge # of targets
I'd love to shoot a video with you man, I'm going to be in Florida May 25 2023 too June 6th , I'd love to go detecting with you even if you don't want to shoot a video
of course I would collab with you however, I live and detect the beaches of Orange County California. Good Luck on your trip to Florida and hope to see you visit SoCal sometime. Thank You 👍
@@funwithjim ow man, 😂😂😂, when I get out that way you can bet I'll do a Colab with you, 😂😂, California, I knew that, don't know what I was thinking, just got excited about going to the beach
I have found gold every where from 1 to 81 on my nox 900, the VDI is more about size and shape than the type of metal. Small gold chains will be very low tone while large thick round gold bracelets can be really high tones. Aluminum foil is another great example, small piece of foil is a low tone, a wad of foil is a high tone. Small gold nugget is a low tone, a larger nugget the size of a quarter will sound like a mid tone and a huge round nugget the size of a potato will sound like a high tone, Take that potato sized nugget and pound it into a straight long spoon shaped and make it kind of thin and it will sound like a low tone. Silver chains are low tones but silver coins are really high tones. So Large gold rings will be closer to mid tones, while thin gold ring will be a low tone.
@@funwithjim I saw that it’s like a 1,000 dollar metal detector how much did you make from that ring and do you think that you have made your money back from what you paid from that metal detector?
I have found thousands of gold items over the years, most people I know who actually use their machines and learn how to hunt correctly pay for it very quickly.
@@funwithjim ohhh that’s so nice but I’m just a middle schooler and I don’t want to pay that much so what is a good metal detector that is good to find gold with that isn’t like hundreds of dollars
an ethical detectorist will always return an item, as long as there is undeniable proof that it belongs to that person I would return it. However, I charge a recovery fee of a Minimum of $250 or 25% of current value. Thank You 👍
Our local police will not take lost and found items, they require you to list it on a L&F message board of your choice. I charge a minimum flat fee on all recoveries no matter what the items is.
Worse feeling in the world? Leaving your denture out (the possums got them)and find out replacement would be over $2.8K after taxes. The best feeling is finding them safe and sound. True story.
Local Police do not want to deal with lost and found items they recommend listing on local L&F message boards. Returns are rare but the honest owner usually has undeniable proof. Either way I charge a recovery fee for all jewelry and cell phones.
Of course! Though I could always use suggestions on how to do it because with my 38 years of experience I know returns are hard. People think that it is easy but I ask you how can I return an item that has no name, date, initials and even if they do it isn't easy to find an owner. All I can do is post of L&F boards and hope for the best and of course you have to deal with all the fakes saying they lost it but cannot provide actual evidence they even owned it.
I have found a lot of 18K gold over the last 40 years. I would say less than half are stamp 750 but I have found a lot of fake items stamped 18K but only one fake ring stamp 750 but it was also marked Cartier. In this video that H ring is solid 18 karat gold, You should watch the long form video and see.
All metal detectors can pick up gold especially the gold prospector & treasure hunting types. The security detectors are set to ignore the small gold items like rings, necklaces, earrings. Thank You 👍
Ya think? There’s one metal detector guy who finds treasure every time he turns on his detector. It’s literally amazing how good he is. It’s like he doesn’t even need the detector cause he seems to always know exactly where the super valuable ancient stuff is hidden that no one else has been able to find. Amazing.
I spent 4 days on the beach in Destin trying my best to find something... My detector was going crazy but I didn't find anything of value.... Gotta keep trying.
How familiar are you with those beaches, swells, collection areas, current direction? Dry sand hunting, hunt the busiest areas. I use the Surf cams to monitor the beach activity and target the busiest spots. I hope that helps.
Hunted the beaches of Southern CA for years and never found anything of value. When I hunted school yards and parks, I made a killing!! . In 3 or 4 years I found over 20 gold rings, some very valuable and 40 silver rings, along with several thousand dollars in change, also many 1700 and 1800 coins including a 1884 Morgan dollar. Beaches suck, to many people hunting them. Now I live in MD and hunt crop fields and fine lots of 1600 & 1700 silver coins plus tons of military items and buttons ect.
@@kygreenskeeper8326 yep, plantations are also another good place to find stuff. Have one ive done and found some old relics from the slaves and military. It was combed through by a history team and they cleaned up but they didn't get everything hehe. Good luck.
Lol, and who would that be! You must have never tried to return a ring or lost jewelry before it is impossible and beside you must have never watched my channel before as then you would know that I never sell my gold and it is saved for either return or retirement. So get off your high horse and get a clue before you speak to people that way!
You must not beach metal detect, it is common to find Green on gold as it is part copper 18K is 10% copper, if you would have noticed the green was on the solder mark but any smart person would have recognized that. I am glad you got a good laugh but this comment will be laughed at for years because of your ignorance. Lol! 🤣😂
