BEST FIRST radio controlled (RC) HELICOPTER for BEGINNERS ! XK K130 Flybarless RC Helicopter

Awesome to try out a product that will help first time pilots (who have RC sim heli experience) learn radio controlled (RC) helicopter flying but that also satisfies and challenges intermediate and expert pilots with its aerobatic and 3D capability. You get everything you need to fly in the box with the exception of 4 AA batteries for the transmitter. The 6G feature ensures beginners will never lose control and flip the heli accidentally. The variable speed tail rotor prevents the heli from rotating unless commanded by the pilot through the transmitter on the left stick. Intermediate and expert pilots will enjoy the 3D mode at the flick of a switch that enables use of full collective pitch for high energy sport flying and 3D aerobatics.
IMPORTANT: Radio controlled helicopters are extremely dangerous and we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that expert help is found from an experienced RC pilot before you fly an RC helicopter for the first time and that you are proficient in flying collective pitch RC helis on a simulator such as Aerofly or Realflight before attempting to fly a real RC heli. Always consider your safety and the safety of others when flying radio controlled aeroplanes, drones or helicopters.

Yeah, some crazy good all-in-the-box RC planes and helis out there now for not a lot of money. Great for folks wanting to try RC for the first time. When I started it was all glow fuel models. None of this modern electric stuff. Utterly painful.

WAAAAY TOO POWERFUL for beginners! Should have started with an HK K110 instead.

Dont now, where his trottle/pitch curves where set. Looks, like he has some experience with very pitch-sensitive helis?! During my first flight (3d mode) I did some "pitchpumps" when I tried to hover the K130 with 95% trottle, and I already have some experience with Rc cp helis (first steps in 3d flight)! Never used 6g mode, but still, I think, this is the worst heli for a beginner because of its power and quality (some screws on mine have never seen Loctite at the factory).

I first got into RC when a friend sold me a 400-size collective pitch heli for cheap. Right... Three full rebuilds and too much money later, and I switched to fixed-wing, which was my first love anyway. Oh yes, there was some blood loss along the way. My, did I learn a lot.

Haha. I think if I had started with helicopters I might have given up the hobby before trying fixed wing. It's a lot more challenging that's for sure ! Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

I used to own one and they are very good value for the money. Buy a few spares including tail blades main blades, head links , a few main gears they are dirt cheap. Also get 6 batteries because you will fly it a lot. It is fairly crash resistant as well

I restarted the hobby with helicopters and had to struggle with hovering. When flying forward, I realised, they are flying just like a normal plane, except that you have to use yaw a lot more. My first collective pitch heli was a Mikado Logo 10, 13 years ago and it flew fantastic. I even learned the basic 3D maneuvers with it, but the crash-costs made me reactivate my passion for things with fixed-wings 😎

Best way to learn is getting a heli that is cheap to repair and fly and crash and fix. Simulators can give over confidence when moving to the real thing.

Nice video, but i would not recommend this for a first-timer. An XK K110 or WLToys V911S are better. But this K130 would be a great step up.

The tail boom is to long..helis don't fly good like everyone thinks with stretch kits ,you need a really powerful motor on the tail if you make it to long ..so I shortened my k130 and she flew 10 times better

Does it have auto levels?
@EssentialRC
@EssentialRC 4 года назад
No auto-levelling as far as I could see. The 6G mode prevents rolling to inverted and reduces the movement of the head. For that reason I would highly recommend anyone buying this learns the basics of RC helicopter flight with a simulator first. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

This is a very bad helicopter for the first model. I bought a K110, K130 and E119. First I received K130 so I tried to fly it. I flew above the grass, but even a small mistake usually ended with a more or less painful crash. This heli has to much power to beginner. I broke that many parts, that this heli really pissed me out. "Beginner? Nice joke" I said and I put K130 back on the shelf thinking about reselling it. But instead of that, I waited for K110 and E119. K110 was still too crazy for my poorly skills (on high grass I managed to broke the main gear lol), but combo "E119 x XK-transmitter" was perfect for me. After 3 months of flying the E119, I can fly eights, loops and slowly trying to do the same things on the K110. Don't do my mistake. Fist buy K110 od even smaller heli and learn basic, and then jump to bigger (K130/E160 - I think that E160 is more unbreakable).

Bad design but not a bad helicopter,,take a inch off your tail boom and hot glue the qyro down right ..and it will fly 10 times better

I thought that was quite good for a first try! You don't realise straight away that there is some significant negative pitch at the lower end of the throttle stick. When flying RC aeroplanes you get very used to closing the throttle to land. Obviously can't do that with a heli. At least with this heli it's fairly robust and you can learn through trial and error.
@germansnowman
@germansnowman 4 года назад
Essential RC You did really well. I’ve been flying helis for three years now and have never flown them nose-in as much as you! As for the pitch and throttle curves, you should definitely adjust those. For 3D flying, you have a symmetric throttle curve (almost 100% with a dip at the center) and a straight linear pitch curve to facilitate inverted flight. For normal flying, you would have an almost linear throttle curve and a tame pitch curve starting at 50% pitch.
@EssentialRC
@EssentialRC 4 года назад
I dont think they can be adjusted but I'll look into it. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

@tontowmerlin5240

@@EssentialRC Any decent transmitter should give you the ability to adjust both pitch and throttle. I don't think you have the transmitter setup just right for a new helicopter flyer and that cause lead to some bad habits when you try to go 3d. My suggestions: You're probably going to want some expo on the right stick if you don't have it already. At 100% throttle, most helicopters will be a bit twitchy. Left stick: Expo is optional for the rudder, but you will want a bit in the center for pitch. 45% to 50% dead center on this stick should be 0% pitch (blade pitch) on the main rotor. (If you don't have 50% stick be 0% pitch, then learning 3d will be that much more difficult.) 40% and below should have just enough to pin the heli to the ground during run up. 40% to 45% will be where you will have about 50% expo as you go from negative pitch to 0% pitch. Once in the air, go mode 2, mode 2 is 0% pitch and full throttle with the stick at 0% to 50% (Mode 3 would be 3D.) This will help keep you from slamming it on the ground. 35% and above on the left stick should also be a flat max throttle. (Note: a max throttle of 80% will be more than enough for most helicopters in 1D mode.) This will be your run up for the main rotor (so it gets up to speed before lift off.) You will also want a throttle kill switch that you can hit once you touch ground. I'm not saying you did bad for a first time YOLO run. You kept it in the air inside of a reasonable area and didn't hit anything or anyone and that is allot better than most. You should really think about slowing down your flight skill progression by just a bit. IE: Make a 3 foot circle on the ground. This is your flight area. Try to keep the helicopter in the middle of the circle. Do this a few dozen times. Then double the circle and repeat. Hovering is the hardest thing to learn with helicopters and if you can manage to master that, then you can fly with real control.

Are you still flying? These new micro RTF's are pretty decent. Lipo's are dirt cheap and quick charge. In a light crash these little things don't even sustain damage. However, for any repair you need to get your microscope and tweezers. I had a trex150 awhile back and thought it would be a great indoor flyer, but there was a major design flaw with the cyclic servo's...piece of junk. I haven't touched my trex 500 since 2013. I flew almost everyday from 2007 to 2013. The golden age of rc heli, with advent of head holding tail gyro's, rock solid 2.4 ghz txs(futaba), lipo's getting cheaper(hobby king), and "appliance like" helicopter brands like Align. (fly, crash, fix, fly again...just like new). Also, great simulators like Realflight.

@@trexinvert Last year I bought the Blade Nano CP to try, if I might get back to it. I first flew it indoors and then outdoors. Of course I had to try a loop 😁 which then ended in a crash... I still have a T-Rex 450 and 250 which should still work. I also flew a little in the sim, but decided to stay with fixed wings and FPV quadcopters.
