This version of the Kreh Loop is the best fishing loop knot I've tried, esp for light jigs on relatively heavy leader line. I prefer a final loop that is compact and neat, and I show you how to easily size your loop in the video. I also go over loop knots vs snaps/clips.
Here's a picture of the basic Kreh's Loop (from netknots.com); note that I use 3 wraps regardless of line strength: goo.gl/2PK2n8

Cooking and Fishing Thanks for this vid & the link! Just retired to the shore & shifting from inland trout & some bass fishing to salt water. Excited to start. This was terrifically informative & visual... better than many I’ve seen lately while I try to learn & soak in as much good valuable info! Your camera focusing wasn’t great & contrast color behind your line could improve but overall line & knots were seen clear enough! Thanks, again!

Have to admit: I’m an experienced angler , but I’ve learned a couple new things from u this week. 💯 I’ve been using the larger loop knot. A huge tog took me on a major ride last fall on a jig fight. Could feel it twisting and turning and digging. It broke me off 😂😂

Perfect knot. It never slips if tightened properly. It can be made stronger by making the initial overhand knot with a double overhand knot. I was able to land many years worth of stripers and bluefish with the knot on Clouser streamers.

Being a clip guy whenever possible...every single thing you say is 100% accurate. From the extra lean or roll when jigging through the slack. To being able to at times feel the clip interact with the line tie. Owner even sells clip with soft plastic covers at the bend to make it a silent connection. I'll even admit to plasti dipping clips and wire leader in the past :) New camera?? Many don't realize just how much a solid polamar / uni knot really effect the action of a bait. Is it no surprise that the hottest trending bass baits are swing head jigs and such.....whether it be freedom tackle or jika rigs. All have a free swinging hook
@CookingandFishing

@CookingandFishing
@CookingandFishing 4 года назад
I think it would work well, thing with very light line (2-4lb) you have to really examine your jig or lure's eyelet...any rough spots or sharp edges in the metal will cut through a loop knot.

@CookingandFishing

I do, not sure if it's better but honestly...I use the loop knot for all my jigs. The only exception is Damiki rigging in freshwater, but that's only bc I need the knot towards the back of the eyelet for the bait to suspend horizontally. Other than that...a jig/jighead gets a loop knot!

i know this video is from 2018..... being a fly fisherman mostly we use loop knots quite often on certain subsurface trout flies..i will give you a slightly different way to tie it that is noticeably smaller and perhaps a bit quicker at least for us because we fish alot with 5 and 6x tippet material and very small flies which is alot harder to tie than on 15lb test..you start off the same exact way as the kreh loop but instead of feeding your tag through the overhand knot first you bypass it,, make your 3 turns past the overhand knot then you pass your tag through the knot and seat it..so you went through the overhand knot only once instead of twice... there is absolutely no difference in strength at all and ive caught hundreds of fluke with it and cant remember losing a single one to a break off...used it for many years fly fishing and now for the past 5 yrs for saltwater since ive been addicted to the fluke game from shore..all my fluke fishing i use and employ the exact same rigs you use from watching your channel..try it at least and see what you think...if im tying directly to a jig or bucktail its a davy knot all the way...if you dont know that super simple knot you should..it is by far the smallest knot ever to use and you can tie that knot just by feel with your eyes closed..i have done it many many times when friends say i cant just to show them u can..happy fishing..btw,,,,i love that unhookem tool i saw on your video and spoke with the owner about a bigger one for saltwater and supposedly there working on one..
@TheEvilTwin69
@TheEvilTwin69 4 года назад
Yo... Roger Dodger... what's good. It's Stretch..... I would think with your OCD, you would use a colored line for video presentation and make sure you also tie a NO slip loop knot. The only difference in the knots are ; after looping your lure you return thru the over hand on the same side as the first, then twist 3 times up the main and return thru the over hand holding the tags that make up the actual loop out of the way from the OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE 1st two. When done correctly the tag will exit the knot @90° and be cinched around it's entire circumstance. It's the only knot I use for any lure or streamer, anything I'm not just burning straight.

@CookingandFishing

100%, but you have to make sure the jig eyelet is clear since you're using light line. Esp on a steady slow swim...the loop knot will give your ned rig just that little extra sashay :)

already have caught a 30# Blue Cat off of these (going to try to get a 60#+ next year). ru-vid.comUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 Definitely very strong, and sharp. Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.
