Dont feel compelled to ask people to excuse your hands, it shows that you have worked hard for what you have !!! We need more people with your work ethic !!! Great video !!!
Richard, I just (5 years later) found this video and want to say thank you! for sharing your secrets with all of us that want to be better fishermen. this is some great information for long time fishermen (I will turn 71 this year) and new be fishermen. Thank You!, thank you, thank you.
Richard. Started using ur loop knot on my ice fishing jigs. Man. That is the best secret anyone has ever given up. Vertical and horizontal ice jigs with ur loop knot r the best advice I have ever received for ice fishing. Thanks for giving me that final piece of advice for fishing through the ice! 👍👍
Your videos are more entertaining than any fishing show I’ve ever watched. I haven’t fished in 20 years life has been so busy but you have really inspired me, I’ve recently purchased a 14 foot johnboat and will be fishing this spring. Keep doing your thing Richard you crack me up brother.
Catches 20 to 30 crappie with this modification in just one hook and plastic lure (1.75 slab tail) . Highly recommended folks. Thanks sir Richard for your very special knowledge with crappie.
Thank you for sharing with us Mr. Gene. Those people who gave you thumbs down need to get a life. You are an outstanding, selfless, caring, great angler that is much appreciated. Thank you for all the videos. May YHWH bless you.
I believe you are the best crappie fisherman I've ever seen. Growing up in Florida, catching "speckled perch" we only caught them at dead and crescent lake in the narrows in January and February trolling live minnows. Since moving to Ga have learned to spider rig and fish at night with lights under 109 bridge at West point lake. Have some friends who pitch jigs to trees they have sunk. My aunt likes to use a jig pole with about 18 inches of line around stumps in dead lake. I've seen a bunch of ways, but you sir are becoming my all time favorite. Glad to have found your page.
Mr. Richard you are the reason why I been coming home more often instead of being trucking so I can fish more often... thank you for sharing you passion about fishing with us.
Been a minnow guy for years and had little luck jigging. Just using these tricks alone I went from fishing to catching. Love the videos, very informative and entertaining. You sir have made me a better fisherman.
Richard you have more knowledge of all kinds of our southern lakes, rivers,& creeks fishing. I practically lived on Chickamauga, creek as a teenager. Fishing till dark everyday catching loads of Rock bass & the creek bass you've been catching. You have so many great tips for us I can't thank God enough for giving you to us. I walked 2.5 to 3 miles up a mountain fed creek using the helgramites & caught more fish than I have caught in years. Just the sound of the rapids & the birds singing with not another person around. That is truly Gods therapy , Thanks so much
I found this video over a year ago and I've been doing the jig with dental floss like Richard shows and I can catch a limit of crappie on a single Bobby Garland unless I break off. I tie a different loop knot which lets the tag line point down instead of up so that it doesn't catch grass/ trash, I also straighten hook back and forth a few times to weaken it so it's easier to pull free when snagged. A jig the way this video teaches is the single best tip for catching more crappie that I've ever heard, thank you RGTFM.
Richard, I love your tips! I'm an ole country girl from Mississippi who used to fish all the time with my grandmother. When I watch your videos, I just start itching to fish! :-) I will pass these tips on to my grandkids!
Richard - I'm a newbee, learning the knots. Your knot is praised by my fishing buddy. I loved the video, especially the "dental floss" secret. I'm a simple thinker with survivalist genes. I love what you've shown. I'll practice until my ages hands gets this. Don't worry about the carpentry hands. I'm glad I learned this from a "real" guy who's worked hard all his life. I'm an HVAC and Electrical guy. So Awesome!!! Thanks!
After watching this video I prepped a couple of jigs using this method, I used the same jig the entire time out, up until something bit the tail off. The job body never slipped off and I caught a ton of bluegill and crappie and I was having to rip through some weeds too. I’m going to try the weedless method next. Thank you for sharing your secrets with us!
Mister Gene, been watching your videos for about a year now. You are one of the best CRAPPIE/fishing machine! I gave others a chance but you are my favorite the way you explain and fish in your videos. We ate some what alike, I am also a carpenter for 20 years now, love to teach and fish !!! Keep it up... I'll keep on watching
I love watching you,Mr.Gene. Your shows remind me of all the cool things my Granddaddy use to show me,out on the lake, growing up as a young child. As a matter of fact,I'm going to visit him & watch your show with him. I wish I could go fishing with you. And I say the exact same thing you say, when you get excited: "Woooooooo!!!" And, Down South,my nickname is: Woo. 🤣🤣🤣
A great channel, a great personality. very informative, might just be the best fishing channel on youtube! No BS just good solid fishing tips. I love it!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him a meal. Give Richard Gene the Fishing Machine a jig, and he can feed that man 25 to 30 meals. You sir have a skill set and knowledge for all things related to fishing that is unmatched by anyone. Thank you for sharing with us.
When I began doing the super glue/floss trick, its easier than I thought! Watching you do the changes to the jig and to the plastics body, I now try to get my jigs lighter by snipping the body off at the nose end to get a better looking jig. I'm finally getting my wife to believe in your abilities, but she still isn't watching any of your video's. But she isn't getting mad at me when I go to my desk and start working on making made ahead jigs for the boat. I think we will have a good year on the Tennessee River. Right now we've had almost 3" of rain in last 2 weeks. I hope that doesn't mess up the bedding this year. I love your video posts....and I can't wait or the next one. I stop what I'm doing just to watch and learn. Someday, I hope to see Elmo out on the boat with you.
This is the first time I have found somebody that has dedicated a whole video on how to do something. The best. Can you do one on how you would do different knots when your tieing knots for bigger fish for when you're with fishing different size hooks/species?
thanks for the tips...i watched this about a month ago and now i use your method for loop knot instead of my old way (much quicker) and also the dental floss/super glue method and that already saved me a lot of jig bodies.i mold my own jigs and have mold with no collar so keeps the jig same weight....thanks for a great channel.
Mr Richard. Sitting here at home with our new baby girl. Watching crappies come in the boat and practicing that loop knot. Fished my entire life and have never seen it explained like that! Finally getting it looking good and down close to the eye of the hook. Now it it will quit rainin and snowing in NC I gotta get the boat rigged up. My grandpas 65 crest liner v bottom is gonna get decked out kinda like yours with the green carpet. And, hey...wooooo,wooo!
be proud of your hands, I always look for beat up hands like us working men . I've watched you fer awhile & always wondered how you tied on couldn't believe it when I found it .....Thanks
I don't usually comment Home Videos but yours I have watched different ones over and over and you have taught me a lot about crappie fishing I want to thank you for that I'm going to try to put it to use here in South Alabama thank you again
Iv learned a lot from your videos and I love fishing with crawdads it's fun catching them and fun catching the fish with them. Thank you for your time and knowledge....I appreciate it.
Hey Richard, Hats off to your hands. Shows a hard working and moral man. I was thinking, that if you took a small syringe. A food grade on will work as long as it seals. You could inject a small (more more) air bubble into the bait. They would act the same as ballast and trim tanks on a submarine. Add air to the front to level your bait or make it surface running by adding more air.. Thanks for the lesson. :)
One of the best instructional video I have ever seen.....but dad nab it.....I would watch about anything you post just to watch how you close out the video.....You are a fishing legend sir.....thanks for these tips.....they are great.....
Richard Gene The Fishing Machine Thank you kind Sir for giving your time on your video's I went Trout fishing for the first time today It's been awhile since I've been fishing . I bought my Ultralite Combo a couple weeks ago & finally got to use it Trout Fishing . It took a couple tries but I successfully tied my panfish / trout magnet jigs just like you tie your crappie jigs . As for catching any well ya know if you're not used to an Ultralite & using lite tackle . Well it takes time to get used to or for me anyway But hey I had a blast Thankyou again Kind Sir & God Bless you & Mama Sue !
Thank you for the tip! nice one. I am rigging up a bunch to try on Canyon Lake tomorrow morning. Might even go tonight after sundown. 107 is no joke in direct sun!
downright awesome. Gene thanks for sharing your tips.😎 and that alone is why I I think your channel is the best. So many channels talk about how they will show you tips and tricks on how they're catching their fish or rigging their baits. the problem is that is just not true. thanks for being there for us and teaching your tricks to us. because it is good fer us😂😂😂😂😂
You and Bill Dance make fishing fun as we learn from your experience. Thanks for helping us out. Now that I'm retired I'll be working to learn Lake Aberdeen and have bunches of your videos to get me started.🎣
Man, you have got my blood hot for fishing again. I have only known your channel for a couple of weeks, but have been binge watching. Thanks for all you do!
Mr. Richard Gene, wanted to say thank you for the videos and let you know ,you and your channel, are a topic every time me and my buddy Danny goes fishing "when we can". Great tips and we appreciate all of the info. Using your techniques on Lake D'arbonne in Northeast La. and catching more. Thanks again!!
Well that right there was a bunch of awesome info! Thanks Richard. 1st time I've watched an older video with different music:) Wife and I have been doing a lot of pan fishing lately because of your channel. Been using the Bobby Garland jigs thx to you. Can't wait to use these knew ideas! Your channel is always on the top of my sub column. Appreciate all you do.
Thank you always for always being so informative and descriptive and truly teaching everything you have learned about how to find and catch crappie . Watch n learn from all your videos.
Reallly enjoy your videos. Look every day to see if a new one is posted. My wife and I live in northeast Kentucky and crappie fish every chance we get. Please keep the videos coming. We learn a lot from watching! Thanks!
This video is amazing. Demonstrated with a modest and strong voice that makes me feel nostalgic as if I'm listening to one of my favorite teacher talk about himself growing up about the old days. Thank you for teaching your ways and now I will go slay some trouts with your methods.
Hello from Kentucky love watching your show for sure you’ve really learned me a lot and made it so much easier to get those fish here, there perty stubborn but you have learned me how to trick them into biting, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all us God Bless you and yours
I suck at crappie fishing. I have caught 1 crappie, while catching whitebass. I can not catch a crappie with artificial baits for nothing. I have never fished for them in a lake though. Only river systems. I love watching you and learning your ways will bring me crappie success. I know ot
Just found your channel and thanks for the tip. Learning to tie my own jigs and this will work perfectly instead of a clinch knot. I can tell you'd fit right in with my cousin and I when we are speck (crappie) fishing. We are ocassionally know to break out in a Missouri minnow fit, when we have some "live action" going on!!!!
Mr Gene thank you for putting the effort in into teaching people how to fish, you and the people you learned from in life allowed this to happen with your hard work.
Sir, I have enjoyed all of your show and channel, and have incorporated your tips in my fishing routine as well. Thank you so much for sharing and may God continue to bless you and yours. Merry Christmas and Please keep sharing.
herb alexander here thank you gene i used the dental floss and super glue and made a bunch of jigs for my daughter and myself and now we are ready to fish
I just found your channel and I Really enjoy it! Keep 'em coming! Loved the Dental Floss / Superglue tip. I've never seen or heard of it in all my years of fishing!
Awesome video, thank you. I’ve had trouble with my jig bodies slipping after a few fish. I’ll give it a try. What jig heads do you prefer? What size?? Thank you.
