Just recently retired and been living and working here in Florida for 25 years. Now time to get back into fishing. So I came across your videos and have watched all of them in the past month or so!..Thanks for passing along all you have learned because in turn it helps guys like me. Thanks to you both and all the best. Rob C.
Easy life with parents like yours. Especially the father. Always like your video and make me happy to see the Father and you together in action. Lucky you...
actually I loved the video when u showed how u cook ur catch and I think it would be great to share how u cook other kinds of fish. i really want to see more of that
Pops you’re the man that’s how you get the scales off. My grate grandma taught me that technique for Florida bowfin aka mud fish over 25 years ago unfortunately mud fish meat isn’t that good in my opinion it’s like eating paper but when boiled it make a decent broth.
If the state says you have to kill the fish, you have to. Maybe because is a very invasive fish. They certainly have studied the impact of it's presence there
Billy Roth that is one of the most unpatriotic things I’ve ever heard anyone say. No, you DO NOT have to kill anything because ‘the state says so’ - the ‘state’ is not in charge.
@@williambrunjes1301 You're correct, they just say to kill the snakehead for NO REASON. It's not like the scientists working for the federal and state governments have SCIENTIFIC degrees in fields such as fisheries and environmental science. You obviously have NO knowledge of biology, environmental science, or anything relevant or you wouldn't be on here spewing your false narrative.
@@txflounderfisherman4701 I can speak more for bullseye snakehead rather than northern snakehead, but I really do believe the FWC does "just say to kill the snakehead for NO REASON". In florida, the FWC greatly overestimated the environmental impact of bullseye snakeheads when they were first introduced and maintained their policy of "kill them all". I haven't seen any scientific studies proving how harmful snakeheads are... although bullseyes probably do compete with native bass, I doubt it's significant. I see far far more bass than snakeheads in florida canals if that means anything. It's been a long time since bullseyes were introduced and the bass population isn't endangered by any means. Assuming bullseyes are similar enough to northerns, I don't think either are particularly bad for the environment compared to other invasives
I asked a DNR Officer a few months ago about the snakehead. He told me it must be killed ASAP, If I released them I would get a very very large fine for releasing non native species (even though I just reeled it from there). He also said ALL boats in Md must be registered including inflatables & kayaks which too must display numbers, so be careful.
This is not true at all in Maryland. Snakeheads cannot be transported alive, if you want to release them you can. And Kayaks, paddle boards, etc do not have to be registered as long as it does not have a motor.
We uses buzzbaits here in Indonesia to catch giant snakeheads. Also that seems to be a Channa argus and they are able to spread to more temperate regions. I say kill em all before they overwhelm your waters like Tilapia did to mine.
A lot of people confuse them, northern snakehead are in the channa genus, bowfin are in a separate one called the amia. Bowfin are actually a 350 million year old species of fish, they're an ancient fish native to North America
Awesome fishing guys I fish in blackwater mayland all most aver weekend in the summer!!! Lots of people are on the banks now so u need to have a kayak to fish some good spots
Hey I really like your channel it has helped me learn more on different techniques for fishing but I would like your help I live in Honolulu Hawaii close to north shore and I was wondering if I could have your help to find out was that work for shore fishing here thanks have a great day
hello friend, hey I do not speak English very well but I wanted to ask you in which part of Florida is that place, I would like to go there, thanks I liked your video
I love your videos and thank you for being so detailed and making it simple to understand. I have a question which I'm sure I'll get a lot of Slack from other people chiming in ,,, but here goes wish me luck, how do you kill a fish quickly and effectively so it doesn't have to suffer after you catch one that you're going to keep? Not sure if you've already done a video on this if you have I haven't found anything on it or anywhere on RU-vid so any info on this would be really appreciated. Keep up the fantastic videos
I guess they are still spawning. From what I've heard, the snakehead bite is always slow when they spawn. I tried recently and got skunked. I'll try again in June.
The lake behind my house used to be filled with decent sized bass. I recently found 2 massive snake heads and ever since I cant catch bass in the same lake. They destroyed the population
Love your content. Definitely a dumb question but I gotta ask. The white thing you wear... Sorta like a balaclava I wear in the winter skiing. I see a lot of fishermen use them. Why? Is it for bugs, sun protection, mouth vapor control for glasses?
I love your fishing videos... I wanted to ask you and Aron a question? who’s normally in charge of uploading the videos on RU-vid and social media and making your relationship work out as a couple and as a team? And do you guys ever have fights about it? Can you make a video on that? I love the way both of u work together as a team? Idk if you understand me? #SenkoSkipper
what is the best hook type for catching snakehead fish? I wonder if circle hook like gamakatsu octopus circle hook brand work for them, or just regular J-hook? I'd bad experience with traditional hook because once too many times the snakehead will swallow it and stuck in their throat and often die from it...
Wow I’m surprised to hear from someone who doesn’t want to kill all snakehead! I’ve never tried a circle hook for them before but I would try it. I would use an oshaughnessy hook
@@HeySkipper hey man thanks for the recommendation! also yah, in my country snakehead is equivalent to peacock bass in term of game fish but nowadays its almost extinct, sometimes its hard to find a big size for this fish... that's why I envy you guys america, still have a lot of snakehead with mega huge size like that!!
I love your videos bud! Unfortunately snakeheads need to be killed or eradicated! It's a very invasive species. So eat them give them to your friends and family. They are very hard on the native species because they eat everything and not much of anything eats them. Please if you catch them do not turn them loose.
ive learned alot from watching videos thanx have a quick question can i use my lake fishing rod to fish for ocean fishing or should i be getting a much stronger rod for ocean fishing
Sure can but also depends on species and size of the fish you are targeting. I use bass rod for flounder, schoolies striped bass and smaller size blue fish..a lot of fun on light tackle but if you are going after bigger fish or stronger fish you maybe want rods with stronger backbone.
Snake head and bowfin are some Jurassic frankenfish for sure..I caught a bowfin cut it in steaks threw it in freezer it was still moving twitching 2 hours later..it so creeped me out...yay the trifecta of fun Dad! Such a cool video..now who is the other pretty lady? No introduction..shame shame j/k.. I love you include bank fishermen in your info ...I kayak now but for years I banked...anyways great video about a misunderstood frowned upon fish🎣🎣🎣😻💝
Awesome catch. They love minnows, but I think bite is a bit tough right now because they are spawning. It should start heating again up soon. That was an interesting way your Dad scaled it. That would definitely get rid of all of the slime. I need to get back out there. I just ran out of fillets.
