Dairy, my mainstay growing up and obsession as an adult, especially cheese. A couple years ago I abruptly stopped all dairy after learning of the horrors of dairy farms! (Already vegetarian X50+ years). The result was that my allergies disappeared, including hay fever and indigestion! I miss Gorgonzola, but keep discovering vegan substitutes and enjoy my Diamond Almond Milk daily. Loving my vegan life at 77 years old.
I just come to know that I have colon problem. My food is not digesting properly. Since Friday I have been put on a vegan diet. Can someone share with me your experience
Always love hearing dr. B! He always explains things with science, but in a way I can understand it. Always has very practical tips too! Thanks for another great interview Chuck!
Went from SAD to Keto and now that my organism is healthy expanding my gut biome. This is great information on increasing the pleasures of life. Thanks for it.
I finally completely cut out dairy and meat. I feel so much better after less than 2 weeks! Several years ago I started what I thought was a healthy lifestyle. I did heal rheumatoid arthritis but the crohns just wouldn’t improve past a certain point. I cut out sugar, all artificial ingredients, preservatives, gluten… I make everything homemade… it was life changing but I still had stomach issues, low energy, hormonal, head aches… the only animal products I eat now is eggs but I have a feeling I’ll eventually cut them out too. I’m just so limited on what I can eat and eggs have easily digestible nutrients that I need at this time.
@@disnalee Try a bowl of rice and beans. or a couple of baked potatoes with some spicy chilli poured on top. There ain't nothing as filling as that! And it wont give u cancer in 5 or 10 years or block your arteries to your heart with thick greasy saturated fat, which is exactly what youre doing every time u eat animals or their byproducts. Watch FORKS OVER KNIVES or GAME CHANGERS. the absolute scientific proof is there for all to see.
Your eating real food, keep it up. I have diabetes type 2 sovi fast, exercise, and go lchf diets. Yes i avoid process foods, grains, bread, sugar, seed fats and fried foods. Yes its hard but maybe in the long haul it will be worth it. Keep doing your research and follow your instinct.
@@disnalee My husband ate a lot of rubbish before i met him. junk food. take-aways. drank solo lemon and coke every day. He never thought it would make him sick. but it gave him diabetes type 2. Doctor put him on medicine. Still sick. He tried keto diet. did ok for a while then got sicker. Doctor got worried. Said he MUST go on twice a day injections of diabetic medication. That was hubby's biggest fear cos he HATES needles! He lasted just over a year then at start of 2021 he was so sick of injections all the time he agreed to read Dr Barnards book called "REVERSING DIABETES" and Dr McDougalls book "THE STARCH SOLUTION" then agreed to try it. He had to give up meat and dairy and oil....and he ate the meals i cooked all based upon high carb, low fat, whole foods. We were quite scared to start cos we had been indoctrinated to believe complex carbs like starches and fruits were bad for diabetics! But we kept going and within a few weeks he felt SO MUCH better! His digestion finally worked perfectly, he slept well, and his numbers all improved. Turns out he LOVES potatoes & vegetables & oatmeal & rice & beans & yams & pasta! Plus he was pretty thrilled that he could have rye BREAD with his meals and fruit after & in between meals! Well his doctor checked him every month and after 2 or 3 months, the doc took him off the diabetic injections! We couldnt believe it. Hes so happy! like a new man! PS...As a side bonus we both ended up losing 20 kgs each this year as well! Good Luck to you.
It would be helpful if you posted the date of these videos. On a different video you talked about a conference beginning "tomorrow" and to be sure to sign up "today". Posting dates would help us to know how current these videos are. Please consider it. Thank you.
I went mostly plant based back in March. I went mostly SOS-Free plant based by late April or early May. I have been mostly organic since the beginning of July & my health gets better & my weight gets better everyday because of these incremental improvements. I've been doing Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen & 21 Tweaks and I am dropping pounds faster than I was when I went plant based in March & I was down 60 lbs before starting Dr. Greger's stuff religiously, but I'm down 19 lbs thanks to Dr. Greger's recommendations in less than 2 weeks. Mind you that was after a week eating SAD because I was on the road visiting relatives in another state & it was nearly impossible to stay plant based on a family trip especially with family get togethers & no kitchen available to use. I gained 12 lbs in that week on the SAD.
Sauerkraut is fantastic. I have always loved it and a while back I found out it has TONS of beneficial bacteria. How wonderful is it to find a food that one loves to eat AND is tremendously healthy for oneself? Highly suggested. And it doesn't take a bowlful either. I feed it to my dog as well for his gut and I just take a big spoonful or two every night at the same time.
Only sauerkraut that is naturally fermented is beneficial. If it is in a jar, it is not naturally fermented. The beneficial sauerkraut is sold in a bag in the refrigerated section.
@@Jean-m-w costco has some great sourkraut that is naturally fermented and organic. Sprouts is the other place that carries the same brand, but you get a tiny bit for the same price as a huge container from Costco.
Dr I wish to ask you this question about stomach bloating? Is it a call for concerned if a person is having stomach bloating frequently everyday ? What can be done to stop it especially when you feel embarrassed ?
Doable yes. I no longer drink soda, eat ice creams, eat hamburgers, high carbs, cookies, cakes, pasta, rice, seed fat oils, corn, process foods, and fry foods. Eat real foods!
Thank you, Dr. Bulsiewicz! I don't like sour foods but want to improve my gut. I can definitely do two spoonfuls a day though! Now I won't be wasting containers of sauerkraut and kimchi anymore low and slow is the way to go LOL
Yesterday I made Kimchee, Makdous and Pickled Beets; I also make Dill pickles and many other types of Indian pickles. To all my pickles I add just enough sugar and salt to my taste. I love pickles and make them yearly. Pickles are very good for the gut but I never buy them! By the way, good video and thanks to the both of you gentlemen 🙏🙏
Thanks for your quality opinions. One question. I am 2 years colon cancer survivior. Stage 1. Surgicali removed . Tracking my blood tests every 3-4 months along with tumor markers. Thanks God so far so good. What will be your further tests for monitoring. . I am mostly vegetable fruit eater ..but sometimes I add home grown meat and wild fish. Is it common to be bloated some times and feel discmfort in lower abdomen area...and agter bowel movement feel releifed. Thanks
I have digestive issues: I have pancreatic cancer & I always have diarrhea but I have shifted to plant-based diet ( & it’s restrictions about it: NO processed food, dairies & Sugar!) I am doing ok. My question is: Is raw, unprocessed & local (to my place) HONEY is good for me as sugar or sweetener’s substitute???? Thank you very much! Bing (from Long Beach, MS! A subscriber & follower!)
Since they haven't answered you, here are my thoughts. If you are very healthy the raw organic honey, in small amounts, might be ok. If you have some health issues, I would recommend avoiding it. It is sugar/fructose and needs to be processed by your liver. And the worst thing about it is it will make you HUNGRY. Hungry and likely for more sugar at that. So you are keeping the sugar addiction in your life. Good luck on your health journey. PS Make your own sauerkraut!!

@@Kay.in.FL.HI.SA.JP.OZ.NZ.RIO.. we do not need to kill any sentient being with intention to benefit us, if we have more wild land, the animals from it will provide nutrients needed if not killed by humans as they are now, present fields are nothing much less than lifeless except the monocrop on them.
100%! My hubby is severely lactose intolerant but he would not even lick the ice cream but ewww I am not but wouldn’t try it anyway and exactly why even try it!
A Great easy way of of making a creamy chocolate ice cream is using avocado 🥑 that’s too soft cream it with cacao and a little almond milk freeze it for a while et and voila! You’ll have yummy chocolate iced cream
31:33 Gassy from plant based diet? Could this be from not eliminating sugar... Can sugar feed bad bacteria causing yeast which bubbles and ferments causing gas?
Chuck, as you said, it Mac & Cheese FLAVORED. Flavoring would not add dairy, you should know that! I’m certainly not endorsing macaroni & cheese ice cream, however.
Question for next time with Dr B: We only eat sorghum and millet as all other grains are high in lectins and can cause leaky gut. So no wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn. Also most oats, even organic, have glyphosate. Comment please?
He encourages onions and garlic and broccoli, but they are high FODMAP. He should discuss that more. I love onions and garlic, and he mentions beans. Those are also high FODMAP. I sometimes eat a very little bit of black beans.
My daughter has serious diverticulitis and is looking at one, maybe two, surgeries. What foods should she be eating or should she stay on liquid until the infection is brought under control?
Vegans can still be drinking diet sodas or regular sodas and eating processed non-animal product foods with chemicals and preservatives that irritate the gut... Too much fruit can also cause diarrhea... It has to do with sugar.
Dr Will Bulsiewicz what is a healthy number of probiotic strains? Dave Asprey once said he had 90 different strains. How many trillion friendly bacteria in our microbiome is a healthy amount to have? I'm curious about antibiodies and T cells and fighting covid-19.
Besides the health of our planet (organic) something to also consider is the health of the migrant workers and farm hands handling the produce or applying glyphosate to the produce I purchase organic bananas because of the poor workers exposed to the chemicals on non-organic farms.
So, it's better to eat plants and fruits these migrant workers piss on while they are harvesting or wipe their rears before picking your bananas. Come into reality--you don't want bugs that can leave their excrement on your food, you want them sprayed plus it keeps away field animals and their diseases.
Please stop calling those that eat in a healthy way, health nuts. This contributes to the idea that healthy eating isn't normal, but unhealthy eating is. Let's call unhealthy eaters deathnuts for those that need to name call.
I cut out veggies. Minimal dairy. 60 Grams meat protein in a day. Very few fruits. Pineapple strawberries, Blueberries, raspberries and red graps only. No grains!! I use flaxmeal and chia for fiber. Lots of wild fish. I was on a PPI for 5+ years. I'm now 2 yrs. Free!!!! I use seed probiotic and Ion gut health for Microbiome support. Helps me, hopefully this can help someone else. Prayers too all that suffer gut health. It's awful!!! " I also have Barretts esophagus and no Gall Bladder. Use too get bouts of colitis not anymore! Warm knots gelatin 1 tbls. Really, really helped seal my gut. Once or twice a week. 😉
Have always loved your show --- so I have to say: I find that clock ticking, making me wsit for the show to start, so very irritating. What purpose does it serve? Is it actually necessary? I am a senior citizen and every minute of my remaining life is precious. I try to avoid things that are a wsste of my precious time, even a mknute. If that clock thing does not serve a purpose, why do it?
I make my own fermented vegetables. Everything is chopped small and I use it as the salty component on my food. So I'll cook like some beans and rice or potatoes without salting during cooking, and then sprinkle the kimchi or whatever it is on the food and mix it up. Then you get little pops of flavor and salt without overdoing it on the sodium.
One of the Toronto newspapers just ran a story that a recent study stated meat was healthier for you than the plant based burgers. I wonder who paid for that study?
Processed foods, whether or not they are plants based or not, are not good for us. Plant based burgers occasionally or as a way to switch to a plant diet, while not ideal, is better than animal products.
Since I changes my diet to a plant base diet. I have noticed an increase of constipation. Any advice will help. I been fasting for two days since at this point I'm just afraid of food.
geez, its usually the opposite. hmm...are u eating a lot of plant based junk foods maybe? its the plant based WHOLE foods that will easily fix that right up. for breakfast try oatmeal with berries and 1 or 2 tbs ground flaxseed (or chia seeds) then for lunch....say...baked potatoes with chilli or refried beans on top (no oil) then maybe a big bowl of wholegrain pasta or brown rice for dinner with a nice tomato & garlic based sauce and a side salad or pile of steamed veges on top. Nice cream for dessert or big bowl fruit salad. And u must drink a lot of water...like a couple litres a day at least.
Soak all grains, beans and nuts for 24 hrs with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. With oatmeal add 1 teaspoon of apple cider and 1 teaspoon of rye flakes.
