Time to play as our Waifu of the Apocalypse. Hopefully in Darksiders 4 (if that ever happens), we play as Strife because he has the most powerful object in the world: GUN.
Not feeling Fury's personality, but that could be, because Death was a fucking great protagonist. Huge fan of jerk with a heart of gold characters. Golem: "You aren't as cold as you want us to beileve" Death: "Well, keep that to yourself".
Death doesn't get enough credit. He's usually just labelled as just another edgelord, but by the series' standards he isn't at all. He doesn't brood and go on about how hard his life is. He's a sarcastic smart ass, that goes out of his way to help people he cares about.
@@julianmarquez7962 Death also shows concern when his allies get injured or die, and does try to make the universe a better place (even if he's very snarky about it) while going about his main objective of clearing War's name. War on the other hand if he didn't HAVE to help someone to continue his journey, he wouldn't.
War is generally a very honor driven kind of guy. I think he'd help those in need. But he is very prideful too so his desire to clear his name kind of drives him to focus on that and only that and end up not caring about much else. I do like Death a lot too. He has his typical edgy self but at the end of the day he does care about his brothers and sister. The entire point of the his game was Death not believing the bs that War broke the rules. And Death knows War is far too honor bound and always follows the rules/codes. Even at the end of the game he didn't know for a fact that War was innocent but was willing to give up himself and his entire people to save him. He's a good character. I feel like we have yet to see the full extent of Fury. I think this is just her normal aloof self similar to how Death comes of as generally sarcastic and arrogant as well. But when things get serious you'll see more of his serious side. She might be similar.
Fury is supposed to be the madamoiselle of the Horsemen. Smug and conniving, kind of an evil mistress vibe to her. And that's actually a refreshing character to have. I would love to see how she'll develop in the game.
Well actually from what is caught in the comic book of Darksiders, Fury does have a heart, as shown when she held Death's arm saying she was worried about his disappearance, even though she is the most cruel of the Horsemen. But they all have their things. Death is sorta reclusive/solitairy. War is aggressive and short-tempered. Fury is cruel and arrogant. And from what is understood of the books of Darksiders and what the other Horsemen said, example: Death, Strife is the youngest and cause of that he is rash and carefree like a sorta rebellious teenager.
12:29 I know it's a little thing and is becoming more and more abundant in newer games, but I love that when they're talking, they're emotive and are lip synced to their conversation. It's the little things that makes a game great.
also, I'm waiting for someone to burst woolie's bubble and tell him that in Darksiders the horsemen aren't actually personifications of concepts, but rather just powerful warriors who hold the TITLES of concepts.
I had the exact same reaction... darksiders 1 was meh.. just felt like a gow/zelda knock off with cool character designs. Darksiders 2 on the other hand has amazing well rounded game design with a plethora of customisable armour,weapon and power-up options and a mind blowing combo system
I'm thinking that out of the four horsemen, Fury is more like the Nephilim's true heritage than they are. The Nephilim were conquerors. Absolon hated the fact that Eden was reserved for man who was viewed as inferior in every way. He led the Nephilim across realms slaying any that opposed or simply stood on the other side, willing or not. It is why the four went to the council because they viewed their race's thirst for blood being detrimental. But I feel Fury embodies the essence of the Nephilim more than any of the others. Strife, what little we've seen in the comics, is more like a sheriff - he's an asshole to assholes. When someone steps out of line, as seen in the prequel comic for Darksiders 1, he blasts away a demon that attempts to interrupt the four as they goto see Samael. He's almost like a Judge Dredd now that I think about it.
@@xKingx16 she DID mean humanity for real, because in the Darksiders' lore humans are nothing but weaklings, and yet protected by laws. Heaven and Hell can't fight each other for the sake of humanity, you know. At least until it will be advanced enough to compete. I mean...the Horsemen's own race, the Nephilim, were to be slayed mainly because they threatened humans and their original home (Eden), they ravaged full worlds and extinguished entire races, but humans? "Don't you dare touch them!" That's literally what makes something/someone...unpleasant to others. Of course she'll eventually change her mind about everything. Humans, the Council, her brothers...that's pretty much obvious. At least she will have a proper character development compared to Death and War.
@@marcomendicino3997 I wouldn't be surprised (but would be disappointed) if Fury doesn't get any character development. Secondly, War and Death did get proper character development shut yo damn mouth

I've come to the understanding that both Woolie and Matt think that both 2 and 3 take place some time before the first game. That's not true. All three games take place simultaneously. SPOILERS for Darksiders 1 & 2's ending, It ends with Death being called by War after he breaks the final seal at the end of the first game. As for proof of Darksiders 3 taking place around the same time, well a screenshot shows Fury standing in the Anvil's Ford with Ulthane who War had helped reach that area.
There's no definitive time passing in Darksiders 2, Death's journey could have taken the full one-hundred years and only upon reaching Absolon does Death watch War getting ready to battle Abaddon. Fury on the otherhand, the developers described the world succuming to overgrowth and War is still imprisoned - not yet set on his quest. Think I Am Legend where the world is overgrowing as the chaos settles. The watcher in this video hints that there's some kind of balance taking place between the forces of heaven and hell on Earth in this time frame - Abaddon may not have ascertained the title of The Destroyer yet. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out none the less.
There was a similar discussion about War, because they changed his ugly face to his "normal" face that made it in the final game. And some people think that death looks too big and strong. Non of the designs of the horseman are perfect in my opinion, but i like the style overall.
Yeah, i really don't like her design, she feels super generic. As for her personality, she doesn't act like the embodiment of fury, she's kinda angry at most...
the best friends zaibatsu fanbase better show this game some love along with other 2 games. Don't let darksiders IP die on us like so many of our favorite IPs died over the years. But THQnordic needs to have realistic sales exceptions for this game.
@K19 That is why sponsored videos are bad, even if they are upfront about the sponsorship. The viewer and the actual demonstrator are being censored by the constraints. You can TELL there are a lot of bad things about the game they aren't talking about. Pat was shitting on aspects of this game before they got this deal, and he is basically mute about all of them here.
I'd like it if Fury's personality revolved around "Tranquil Fury." She'd be level headed and even be kinda nice/hospitable in a conversation. Piss her off, and she'd unleash hellfire on you while keeping a level tone in her voice to contrast her brutal fighting capabilities. She'd be the most laid back of the horsemen. What do you think?
So the character uses a whip-sword and has an item that allows him to gather souls from fallen enemies... So basically it's Jean Reno's character from Onimusha 3.
I wish they had kept to the traditional versions of the Four Horsemen with four different fighting styles: War with the sword and fire, Death with the scythe and ghost powers, Pestilence with ranged attacks, locusts and status ailments, and Famine eating people while swinging a pair of scales.
If the best friends are the 4 horseman in darksiders, death is matt, pat is war, this can either be paige or crymetina, and woolie will be the last one, then its just woolie, no crazy monsterifications
I just realized that the bosses are like shadow of the Colossus, open world, a item that senses the bosses, but with other enemies to fight in between bosses fights.

You know what game got the weight of an metal whip right!? Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1. You could feel the impact of each combo! Also is it me, or does this have alot of things from straight outta Dark Souls!? Then again the previous games had God of War elements, so i guess they're using the most recent flavor of that people enjoy!? Finally Joe Madureira apparently only designed Fury, otherwise he has nothing to do with the third game...
zombine64 of you did a little snooping around, interview said that they were kinda inspired by DS in terms of having lesser foes to encounter and play it more focused instead of constant hordes of mobs to bash.
@@TheNocturnal1 and having a signature healing item, glowing orbs to signify loot, Souls being dropped upon death.....yeah "Inspired" And adopting the combat system of another game, that's balanced around the management of ones stamina and attack animations, seems like a bad choice considering the previous two games had fast paced and chaotic combat reminiscing of the God of War games. Like i said previously.....they're using the flavor that most people are familiar with, but then again.....so did lord of the Fallen.
A whole lot of people mustn't have played Darksiders 1. DS1 had heal portions and used souls as currency which were acquired upon slaying enemies. I'm baffled that people don't do their research.
@@FatalFist I actually beat both games on apocalyptic.... Anyway, While the previous games had health potions, they were consumed on usage unlike Estus from Dark Souls, and while the currency was also called Souls, they weren't used in the same way as in Dark Souls, instead they were used to unlock moves and upgrades spells via a Vendor. Of course they removed that system in favour of a more RPG like loot and leveling system in Darksiders 2, which made you less reliant on currency and more dependant on XP. So again, while the older games had more in common with the God of War series, this one is "inspired" by Dark Souls which is properly to play it safe i guess!?
Definitely a good move by Nordic to send this out to people to make vids. It's been a minute since Darksiders so a lot of us were unsure but this looks true to form and worth the time.

Wow, that mid-boss platforming section was a mood killer. Why'd they do that? It looks pretty and I like the post-apoc setting, but was hoping the demo would show off something that'd grab me.
@@Fjarhultian You CAN sprint in this game (you couldn't in the previous two), just like you can do many more combos than that, both ground and aerial, mix-and-match the whip with the four hollows (aka FOUR secondary weapons each with their own moveset), use special powers and such. It just happens that most people who got the chance to play and showcase the game seem to be unable/unwilling to explore mechanics and just go on spamming primary attack and dodge. No wonder there's still people thinking the game only has one combo....
I like how the beginning of Darksiders II has that cutscene where it talks about the nephilim and how they murdered the shit out of a thousand worlds, but then four of them got sick of the bloodshed and made a bargain with the Charred Council for the power to destroy the other nephilim and stop the fighting, and those four became the Four Horsemen, and now Fury is here like 'YEAH, WOOO, SHATTERED WORLDS, FUCK YES"
I'll die on this hill. I do not feel like Darksider's 3 is going to be great. I got the feeling that 1 and 2 got by on the theme of people loving the edgy "4 Horsemen" gimmick, but this one feels like it's being dragged along for a hand full of fans. The entire plot is based around trying to help your brother after he made a big oppsie poopsie. Also Yes Woolie, Fullmetal Alchemist did manage to do the 7 deadly sins. A while ago really. It also managed to make Greed and Gluttony feel like different aspects. Here we have Envy, somehow coming across as Greed. Which makes me hold out on the other deadly sins being fun or interesting.
@@Wolf_ManJack Point is the full game, intro and all, should be done by now, if they're releasing on Nov 27. They can afford to pay the best friends but they can't give them a more complete build to show off? Probably some confidentiality thing, but still - this demo does the game no hype.
So you want everything spoiled for you before the official launch? That kind of goes against the practice of selling a product, you don't get reviews until the official street date.
Talking about how this reminds them of bionic commando and last of us, when there's a soul number in the bottom right and a couple minutes ago they picked up a soul item that can be cracked for souls and a glowing orb floating centered on a dead body that contains a minor consumable healing item assigned to the d-pad.
Gotta say, the relationship between Fury and her Watcher is infinitely more amicable compared to War and his own. As much as I love Mark Hamil, the antagonism got a bit grating over time, so this makes me a bit more invested
Not really "amicable". More like: "This floating thing annoys me but I like when she boosts my ego" vs "I'll lick this bitch's boots to keep her quiet and loyal to the Council, then I'll backstab her should she learn too much about the truth"
Can someone explain to me why the writers change the last two horsemen from Conquest and Famine to Fury and Strife? Isn't Conquest and Famine badass enough?
I like how they gave Fury all white eyes. I remember in the first game she had pupils. That's if I'm remembering correctly. Haven't played it in years. Anyway, Death is still, and always will be my favorite. War is cool too.
This looks so refreshing. I need a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Red Dead 2, AC Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, all great games but this!
I know this is just a demo, but I kind of wish it was not as bare bones as it is. Just wish they showed off a little bit more of the game's mechanics. I do hope they combine aspects of Darksiders 1 and 2. I loved the open world RPG format of 2, but preferred the dungeons of 1. Edit: I hope we get to see Uriel again. Such an underrated waifu.
Already know of her next form, it's got to do with a lance/spear of some sort. This is based on some demos of folks looking through the tabs and the moves lists.
One last time: Strife and Fury are complete garbo, and they should've gone with Conquest and Famine. Pestilence is a modern interpretation whose role in the original text is taken up by Death (i.e. Death via disease), and is superfluous. Famine would then be the obvious pick for the "mage" of the Horsemen, with plenty of lifedrain spells to go around. Conquest is the original first horseman, riding a white horse, bearing a crown, a regal longsword, and a bow and arrow (thus having a complete moveset just from his description). He rides first, ahead of the others, and sunders the kingdoms of men, rendering us back into savage primitives, disunited and distrustful of one another. He's sometimes associated with the antichrist. (As a bonus, using Conquest means would've War fucked up even harder in Darksiders 1, since he's supposed to be the _second_ horseman)
It'd be rad as hell if they introduced Conquest to be a rival character at some point in one of the games. Have him be your Vergil and duel with him multiple times throughout the story all leading to a climatic final battle with you both shirtless in the rain.
Either way, picking their dumb OCs over either Conquest, Famine or even Pestilence because they "couldn't come up with different enough movesets" or w/e betrays a massive lack of creativity.
Dude seriously i was really bummed out when thq didnt use pestslance and conquest cuz i mean fury seems alright but it just sounds kinda lame when next to the idea of pestalance literally using plague granades and other plague related stuff to fight ppl (like using plagues patreon for a wrath attack)
@@LittleMountain90 I still stand by the idea they could fix this mistake be having them both turn into the appropriate horseman by the end. Just have them slowly start morhping as they go through their games.
@CaptainThunderwolf None of the horsemen had genders, in fact the original text didn't even name them, it just described the colors of their horse, the things they brought with them and what horrors they unleashed upon the world. So having a lady horseman / horsewoman is totally legit.
it looks like there's a center part that's missing, like the individual bits look like they're just being held together by fury's anger, or should i say moderate irritability? also if she doesn't connect the whip bits to turn it into a sword like object at some point then i'm gonna be super dissappointed.
I do not know about transforming it into a sword, but the whip handle, known as Scorn, is used to bring forth the weapons that belong to the various Hollows forms. For example, it grows the giant mallet for the Force Hollow and can split in two for the blade flail things of the Fire Hollow. I hope that at least counts for something :)
The thing I never dug about the seven deadly sins were done in FMA was that the rules for HOW the sins were embodied was inconsistent. Like, Gluttony is a glutton. He's a person committing a sin. Lust is not a sex-addict who goes around fucking anything that moves, she's an attractive lady, someone to inspire lust in others and causing them to commit a sin. It just always kinda bugged me.
