The most convincing thing about this laptop is the value, when comparted to other similarly spec'd laptops, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, this is the way to go.
@@TechTicals thank you. I have my older Lenovo legion y740 i absolutely love, but maybe an 18 inch screen from my 15.6 inch would be nice. Or, ill just get an external monitor that looks better anyways. Decisions!
Laptop CPU & GPU has to run with a lot less watts. and it really shows. Mobile 4090 is not remotely equivalent to the desktop version.. No fancy surround audio either. But if that's a fair tradeoff to you, then OK. Personally, My desktop will always be main, despite having a i9 4080 32gb legion laptop. I certainly enjoy using it when I'm not home though.
wait I thought that the RTX 4080 laptop version didn't allow for external displays, I was just reading that when you connect an external display to the Legion 7i Pro it switches to the intel gpu and that discreet nvidia gpu was only for the internal display.
I can get it for 3300€ i9 13800HX with RTX 4090 i wonder is it good price? I have no pc at all becaus in my country Asus or Acer cost like 4000+ with 4090
What about VRAM temperature during heavy gaming? I got new one , built 03.23 and during heavy gaming in performance mode VRAM temps are up to 106 deg. Other guy have 05.2023 laptop - the same story, 104-106 deg. Gpu and cpu temps are fine
Hello, nice vid, very helpful. I am now considering replacing my desktop as well, since I am traveling a lot, but still want to have some beast of a machine under hand to play any game on ultras. Do you know anything about another variation of this laptop on Amd Ryzen 7945 HX ? It is one of the latest Ryzen models and a bit newer than 13900 HX from intel. Is it better than intel one tho? I heard its getting really high temperatures, so I am a little worried to buy it, even though it costs less.
I would personaly not get this laptop if you are travelling a lot, It is very heavy for a laptop, not comfortable on the lap, get the 7i Slim instead, AMD versions are good aswell with better battery life, watch some benchmarks though
could you benchmark in unreal engine 5 if you have time? itd be really helpful for the gamedev community since almost no other tech reviewers do it, and unreal engine needs a lot of performance.
@goldwally1428 directly from lenovo, ended up getting 150 cash back and 200 refund cuz it came one week later than expected so total came out to 1550 with the 4080.
Yeah Aluminum would have been nicer but to be honest I don't mind the plastic. I'd prefer if they included the SD card reader, or windows hello, for a $4000 product with the name "Pro" they should be included.
In Australia the 9i is $3000 more expensive for the same specs😬, It is a better looking device with some more features, but definitely not worth 3k more.
This depends on the resolution and refresh rate of the external monitor, the thunderbolt 4 has 40Gbps bandwidth, a 2k 244hz monitor will use 24.62 Gbit, so you will have 15Gbit left. Remember you have 2 Thunderbolt 4 on this laptop, so you can utilize 80Gbit Combined.
Dollar for dollar any desktop build is gunna be at least twice as powerful as a laptop. These are for rich kids to take on vacation. Just saying at the end of the day.
I cant speak for the rich kids😂 but it cost the same as a 4070 desktop build ($3900 aud) vs ($4000 aud) with on-par performance. you're paying slightly more for the portability and extra screen.
Of curse you can, but you can get a laptop for $1600 as well, computer will always be slightly more powerful for the same cost, laptop will give portability, depends on what you need.@@typerightseesight
it's for sure not slightly your gunna get minimum twice the bang for the buck out of a desktop but you have to build it and its got more primitive of a design than a brand name factory made gaming laptop. for example "gaming desktops" have the psu on the bottom of the case instead of the top for the draw of voltaged air on the cpu fan. the balance isnt there and most people use the monitor port on the gpu rather than the motherboard. Laptops are for sure for the elite. @@TechTicals
