I've finally found the perfect motovlogging setup. This is what I use on my Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport, and Triumph Bonneville T120. It consists of two DJI OSMO Action 4 cameras, a DJI OSMO Pocket 3 camera, the DJI Mic 2, and some other stuff. It works FANTASTIC along with my Shoei RF-1400 helmet.
NOTE: Don't watch this in 4K. I messed up this upload and it only looks good in 1080p. LOL.

Don't forget to find the secret word. It's somewhere in this video!
Mentioned in the video (the one I showed in the video is a bit different. get this one instead):
Ulanzi clamp: amzn.to/47EXQeR
Filmed on my 2023 VESPA GTS SUPER SPORT 300 HPE.

Hi. I'm not a smart man. If you watch this video in 4K you'll notice a bunch of weird horizontal lines. This is because I shot the video in 24 frames per second, but output it at 30 frames per second. Which is incorrect. And bad. And I hate it. Anyway, really though I did that on purpose to show you what happens. Let's go with that. Just watch the video in 1080p instead of 4K and it'll look ok. Until my next debacle, -bug.

Hi Bug. Greetings from Phila. New viewer on your channel and I'll be sticking around because I like the vibe and your sense of humor. I came across this video because after about a decade, I am finally fed up enough with GoPro that I am ditching them and going with Action 4's for my new setup so I've been watching all motovloggers who talk about motovlogging with an Action 4 and your video was the first I saw to showcase multi-cam along with being all in on the DJI ecosystem. (I'll be running 3.. Handlebar, Helmet and back of bike facing backward).

@bug, great content as usual. Question: Have you mounted your Pocket 3 onto the handlebars? I've seen this done elsewhere but without 4-axis stablisation I've wondered if the image looks... crap when going over bumps.
@bugscooters
@bugscooters 5 месяцев назад
I have not. DJI recommends against handlebar mounting, but I'm trying to think of a way to do it with some vibration dampening. Could be interesting...

@bug, great video, made me chuckle 👍 Q: Does your DJI gps remote controller start and stop both action 4s and the mic 2 with one press? Many thanks!
@bugscooters
@bugscooters 5 месяцев назад
Indeed! It controls both cameras at the same time, and since the mic is connected to one of the cameras it comes along for the ride.

Hi, I would like to use the DJI Mic 2 for motovlogging, but I have a question. Do I just pair the transmitter (mic) with my Insta360 X4, and that's it, or do I also need to connect the DJI receiver to the X4? I read that you get worse audio quality without the receiver. Also, with the transmitter inside the helmet, would it be better to connect a lavalier mic to it? Thanks

Hi from France . Nice & fun video . I’m a big fan of DJI Action 4 and Pocket 3 and a motovlogger too (see my channel if you want, it’s English subtitled). I agree on many points of your video, but I want to add something. ND filters are great to give a more natural effect as you can match shutter speed to your frame rate (as you said) BUT they destroy the image stabilisation on the Action 4 (and all other action cams) as the stabilisation is digital. The way it works is basically comparing every image taken and crop it (up, down, left, right) to make it match with the previous and next image. To do so, it needs a perfect image with no blur, otherwise it will give you a kind a jelly. And to have a very crisp and neat image, the image must be taken at a high shutter speed, which is opposite to what the low shutter the ND filter will involve. I did many tests on my bike (there is a video about it on my channel) and I came to a conclusion that if you want some stability in the footage (I mean a footage with no moment of strange jelly or blurryness) the shutter speed must be at least at 500 to 800 of a second which is 10 times faster that what you’ll get with ND filters. It’s clearly visible on your footage : you have a very nice and natural « motion blur » very visible with the trees passing by, but every little bump makes the main subject blurry and jerky ( I hope I’m clear, sorry, I’m not a native English speaker). So to fix the problem, you have 3 solutions : 1/ don’t use NDs on the Action4 (or other type of action cam) and accept to lose the nice « cinematic looking » effect for a well stabilized and clear (but « clinic ») footage. 2/ use the NDs but DISABLE the stabilisation . The whole footage will be more shaky but you can stabilise in post and the result will be much better (gosh, you’re riding a bike, not a sofa, so people will understand that those damn things rock !!) 3/ use the Pocket 3 as it’s stabilisation is mechanical, but it has other weaknesses on bord (not waterproof, vertical axis is not stabilized, the camera is much more fragile and the gimbal has some inertia during turns). You can also buy the damper made by Insta360 for any camera and it will help quite well. 👋🏼 ✌🏼

Thanks for this. So. In my case, before I was using the Action 4 I had an old GoPro attached. That thing didn't show any vibration/jelly. So when I upgraded to the Action 4 and noticed the jelly, i was really kinda irritated. But then I upped the exposure to 1/100 instead of 1/50 (I shoot 24fps) and that pretty much eliminated it. I realized that I had the old goPro set on auto, so that's why it wasn't distorting. It was shooting at a higher exposure the whole time. I've experimented with the Pocket 3 and would love to get it into the mix, attached to me or the bike, but as of yet haven't found a good method. It works great for stand-up shots though so I love it...

@@bugscooters Hi , what you just said makes sense as Stab on GoPro & DJI is made by fast shutter , and on Auto, they always have a fast one. I just bought a suction mount and installed my Pocket 3 on my bike for the 1st time to run some tests … 25 fps / 50 shutter (nd filter)… awesome results.

Planning to have the same setup. Just a question, does OA4 sleeps when not used in a few minutes? if it does, when you hit record does the mic 2 connects instantaneously?
@bugscooters
@bugscooters 4 месяца назад
It does go to sleep. You can set it to do so from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, but apparently you can't turn that completely off. When I hit the record button when the mic is connected, it takes a second or two for the mic to catch up, but it does work.
@titodomph
@titodomph 4 месяца назад
Thank you for the quick response@@bugscooters . So just to be 100% sure that I got that right, when the camera is asleep, you hit record the mic automatically connects but takes 1-2 seconds to connect?
@bugscooters
@bugscooters 4 месяца назад
@@titodomphYup that seems to be my experience. I always double check that the little green audio meter appears on the screen (it doesn't if the mic isn't connected) just to be sure though.
@bugscooters
@bugscooters 4 месяца назад
@@titodomph One thing I should mention though is that the dji mic has its own sleep timer, and I'm not sure if that can be turned off or not. I think that's a new feature with the latest firmware? Not 100% sure. But once that's turned off it's off. It won't wake up on its own when rec is pressed, far as I'm aware.
@titodomph
@titodomph 4 месяца назад
@@bugscootersah! I forgot that the mic also has its own sleep timer! hmm.. Im still going to switch to the OA4 from GoPro, main reason is that when it rains I cant record audio anymore with my gopro because of the mic adapter. with the wireless mic that will now be possible. also riding at night will look better on the OA4 compared to the GoPro.

Luv, luv, luv yer channel and content. My body does something really strange when the bell rings telling me that bug 🐛 has a new video. I’d film this process and share, yet I have no camera 📸 or microphone 🎙️. Keep yer content coming. I’m on the west side of PDX and I ride out over here. Perhaps one day we will run into each other, not “run into” each other, yet scoot into each other. Ride safe Mate. Cheers!

what's up with all those blurry moving horizontal lines in the video? it seems like the cameras cannot stabilize correctly? 🤨

OH DAMNIT! Those are called "I'm-a-moron lines" and they appear when I shoot in 24p and output at 30p. I can't believe I did that, especially on a video about video... UHG. If you watch the video in 1080p instead of 4K they go away. I'll pin a comment about it. Thanks for pointing it out. That's the second time I've done it. FANTASTIC
