Normally, at 2 in the morning, I'd be dreaming about my Vespa GTS 300, in bianco innocente! However, I found myself with a bit of the insomnia. So I did the normal thing and went for a ride to get a soda. Admit it, you do the same thing when you can't sleep...
Filmed on a my 2023 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport.

Every night before I go to sleep I yell "ALEXA! MAKE IT RAIN!" I somehow programmed that to play a rain playlist... I totally forget how I did it, but it's cool as shit.

I commute to the golf course in the dark, 4:30 in the morning three days a week. And I commute after dark two days a week when I close. No problem. Love your videos. Pismo, Paul.

Regarding that nervous feeling why you’re sitting at a stoplight: you might consider a Brakefree light for the back of your helmet. It’s motion activated, flashes when you brake or slow down. You can set it to be completely on all the time. Another plus is that since it’s on the helmet you can use it for either the Vespa or Bonneville. Also, a heated jacket liner and gloves. I find that the latter work better than heated grips. Love the videos!

hahaha, yes! As a fellow insomniac I can empathize with you. Especially with the crappy weather in Coastal Nor-Cal, that wet cold cuts like no other. I've snowmobiled, fought fires, camped in below zero temps where I'm not as cold as I am in this stuff. The game changer for me was heated gear. Started out with Gerbings but run the Warm & Safe heated seat, I believe they are based out of Oregon.

I sometimes get off work at 12:30 am in far east Vantucky. I'll take the secondary roads and residential streets back to I-5. And that is where the drunk drivers are.

Thankfully in MD (have to check on where I'm moving to soonish) PTWs can run a red as long as they can argue they sat there for 2 cycles without getting the green. Of course if a police officer just sees the red and wasnt there the whole time the rider was waiting, they can't say for certain how long that person waited. 😘

Back in Denmark I rode a lot at night in my car though, but now living in Thailand so it never cold, I simply love driving at night, on the main roads at least... Getting on the small country roads is not safe, drunks, street dogs etc. but the quietness, fresh air, the street lights passing by, just you and the road, it's really so calming, and then when I get home, I sleep so well and feel really relaxed. I of cause also ride in the day time, but night time is something different, I simply just love it. Doing long trips, I try to get going early as possible so I can get some night riding in as well before the sun comes up.

Last night when I pulled up to that 7-Eleven there was a car next to me, and in the car next to that were a bunch of young folk. I don't think they saw what I pulled up on because if they did, they probably would have thrown pretzels at me. Instead I was that big dude in the Harley jacket!!! (Big dude because the jacket makes me look like I weigh 400lbs. it's so big...)

I lived in Portland for a little bit around 2017. I used to ride around all the time in the middle of the night. Right after it rains is the best!

Well I foresee me doing this as Summer approaches because I am NOT going to ride when the temps outside get above, I dunno, high 80’s? Our summers can be brutal. Last summer over 50 days with triple digit temps. Our winters are mild compared to you Bug. Thats prime riding season for us. But I can’t not ride my Vespa for months on end. So night rides are in my future.

sigh. someone jetted across three lanes this morning, ultimately resulting in me on the ground and the scooter with serious road rash on the right side. :( injuries fairly minor, all things considered. gonna have a bum knee for a while, but nothing broken. plus the whole still breathing thing. so i won't say it, but "that two word phrase you recently ranted hilariously about" out there bug. ;)

Hey thanks! It was, indeed, still in the garage, which I did indeed close before I left. I keep a garage remote in the pocket on my arm and I guess it's just automatic now that I close it before I scoot off. But then I forget that it's automatic and, well.
