I'm not kidding around, down at my range some lady accidentally loaded a mag backwards and she got the damn round stuck in her gun. So the lady started freaking out and she frantically started pointing her gun at a few people, asking if they could help her. Lol I think my buddy was able to help her but he said he was literally about to shoot her at first. Haha

My hyve mag extension on my Ruger LCP II works but it looks like it's been through hell and back with the finish coming off from simple holster wear. My Taran tactical mag extension have been through hell and back and still look and perform perfect after being dropped more than the high school nerd on a varsity basketball ball team.

Question! Have you tried the the 21 round Magpul Glock mags? I don't know if they are legal for competition but, they have been 100% reliable for me. Now obviously I've not fire the high round counts that you guys do. As far as winning the 💓! Bullets forward here is why: #1 I like them pointed at the customer #B cause James Yeager said so and if you disagree with him he'll throw a hissy and dive in a ditch #3 I can't really remember what we were talking about and I'm afraid I got my Numbers mixed up with letters. Oh well 5 out of 4 people have trouble with fractions 😂👍🇺🇸

I haven’t personally - their capacity wasn’t high enough for matches- I intend to get some for training. The mags supposedly will fail before an OEM one would but are probably fine for plinking
@UncleDanBand64
@UncleDanBand64 5 лет назад
@@TheHumbleMarksman they might fail. I've not kept exact round counts. Poe Performance and Tier 1 Citizen have did some good testing on them. I have enough confidence in them to stick a 21 rounder in my front drivers side pocket when I don't feel like carrying my cellphone holster with 2 G17 mags in it. Sometimes I do both

HYVE is nice. I use three +5 plates on 17 round mags for a Sig 320 RX. They seat well although I load 22 rounds (one chambered). Functioning fine here, but I have not used a TT or the Dawson ones.. only grip is the dowel stop pin and its tiny set screw install using the allen key they supply. I can't believe you created footage to try and get FREE Taran T. base plates...hahahaha!!!!

Thanks for the videos man! Could you give any recommendations on training/trainers for 2nd level (after CCW permit) classes and what other training would you recommend moving forward? Maybe this would be a good video topic. Thanks for your time and info. Also should I start with IDPA or USPSA?

@jamesmanning8795
@jamesmanning8795 5 лет назад
@@TheHumbleMarksman #1 goal is personal defense, I carry everyday and want to make sure that I am responsible and more than able to properly handle my firearm. #2 goal competition for fun, I am looking at doing my first IDPA match either Feb or March. Thanks!
@TheHumbleMarksman
@TheHumbleMarksman 5 лет назад
So what I would recommend is working on base shooting skill first - both fundamental marksmanship - like being able to land 5 shots on demand on a B8 bullseye (on the target not in the X ring) at 25 yards, then some marksmanship at speed- like landing 2 shots on a paper plate at 7 yards pulling the trigger as fast as you can. Bonus points for fast gun handling like reloads and draws. If you go shoot a match you can ask around if there are any IDPA Masters or preferably USPSA As,Ms or GMs who do private lessons. A lesson or two with those guys and some serious practice should bring you up the learning curve quicker. Once you have your legs underneath you it’s worth thinking about a national trainer - a really great one is Gabe White, but other really good ones : Craig Douglas, Frank Proctor, Scott Jedlinski, Ernest Langdon, Mike Panone, Citizens Defense Research (John Johnston and Melody Lauer do a really good armed parent class), Spencer Keepers, Mike Seeklander, Yong Lee. The fundamentals are boring and not sexy- but your ability to execute them thoughtlessly is huge. The bullets don’t work if you cannot hit.

Always bullets backwards. Look, you don't want one of those babies accidentally going off in front of you. Safer facing rearward. Besides everyone knows that the pinch between the side of the index finger and the thumb is the most secure grip you can have and thus the best was to snatch them BBs out of your belt for maximum operator speeds. So there is some legit misinformation in this video. 1) Dawson base pads DO come with an extra power spring. 2) TTI Pads can load to 23 reliably and on a reload reliably. You need to tweak the inside of the magazine and the follower a tad. 3) TTI Springs are WEAKER than Dawson springs because the use fewer turns of spring wire. Net effect is the extra round in the TTI vs Dawson basepads. 4) TTI mags don't reliably lock open glocks because of the weaker springs and will show feeding issues after a year or two of regular use. 5) Dawson basepads DO lock the slide back reliably. 6) The Dawson bases are much easier to take off by hand than the TTIs and you were doing it wrong. You have to either remove the tabs on the Glock magazine (not recommended by me) OR just squeeze the base of the magazine while you push the door open on the Dawson pad. 7) TTI take down and re-installation sucks because you have to bend the follower spring to pull them off and hold the spring in place while you slide the plate back on. Neither is an issue with a Dawson. *) I run a mixture of both pads because of the 24 round advantage (TTI) and typically use them as starter mags unless I am at risk of slidelock (10 rd pro-am steel sorta matches) then I use Dawson. I also like the bigger base on the Dawsons. Makes the reload grab easier. Usually they are my reload mag.
@TheHumbleMarksman
@TheHumbleMarksman 5 лет назад
So that's a lot but I don't think I'm terribly far off here - I'll clip the bit at the end - the YT editor can help us do that without taking down the whole vid now - so that's nice. I bout the TTIs and the Dawsons at the same time about 8 months ago - I couldn't remember. So point by point 1. noted - I can clip that bit out at the end and will do so. 2. I cannot reload reliably with it with 23 - it could be my specific models but I've chanced a reload to 23 - twice - in matches and twice greeted with a magazine that falls out after a single shot. It could be a fluke in how I seated the mags - but it's happened twice to me and its never happened downloaded. 3. noted - yet and still the reliability rate for both extensions has been 100% - no feeding related issues yet. All of them are going to get new springs coming up on major match season - if they make it that long its good enough since I won't ask anymore than a year out of a spring. 4. I have 2 of each and both extensions stopped locking the gun open at about the same time frame - which was about 2 months in - my experience may differ - but I promise none of my 140s hold the slide open - and it all happened within only a few months of use at about a 1500 rd/month burn. 5. No they don't. see above. When i practice I bring about 14 mags - with the balance being standard mags - and then as I need to reload mags I reload the 140s. My gun hasn't locked back in probably 6 months. I sadly figured that out in a match in September - unfortunately. 6. Could be - I don't remove them all that often since they don't get dropped and therefore cleaned often - they are my "reload" mag and finish in the gun. the issue with concrete is still an issue twice through dryfire I've had to file down burs off the corners of the magazines 7. I don't disagree - they are pain in the neck to put back on. The first time I did it much cussing was involved. * I obviously don't like the shape/profile - they're more bulbous and lead to more inconsistent mag grabs - I miss and hit the frame/plug on reloads more with DP pads than I do with TTI in dryfire. I ALWAYS drill the DP pads in 1st position and it's still a consistency issue. When I get 100$ burning a hole in my pocket I'll have a couple more TTI's and a couple more 22 round training only mags. The TTI mags manipulate more like an OEM length mag - for my hand that's a big advantage - clearly others make STI shape mags work since that's basically all of the 2011 base plates.
@TheHumbleMarksman

Figured out the editor - so the spring bit on the Dawson will be clipped out. It's processing now.

They are both only +5. Believe it or not having 24 in the pistol is pretty serious advantage over 23. That’s 12 targets without reloading - which is sometimes a whole stage. Shield is completely silent on the 140mm mag length which is obviously important to me
