Im 62 yrs old as an non-techie as one could get…i just purchased a gopro hero 9 and you just knocked it out of thr park for me big time! One heck of a video n professional done! And youre one heck of a teacher and presenter! Thanks a million! Subbed 👍🏼
I LOVE your instructional videos. As a retired teacher of 30 years, I can tell you that you have a calling for this. I respect very much the care and preparation you put into your presentations. You never assume we have previous knowledge and your step by step instructions are excellent. Your generation has a speed of speaking that I find difficult so I just slow you down to .75 speed and it works out just fine for me. Thanks so much for your work!
My ambition out weighs my talent when it comes to video making, and your tutorial has really given me an understanding of how I can improve. So thank you for taking the time to do this!
Thank you for posting such a helpful guide for someone like me who is new to GoPro. I've found other videos to be more about promoting the individual rather than dealing with the subject matter.
EXCELLENT! Also, I'm SO THANKFUL that you are also struggling with the touch screen. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! I thought it was just me, I'm a new owner. Thank you for this video.
In the middle of the tutorial, you said, "This wasn't shot on the GoPro" just as I was thinking, "Man! That's a good studio lighting!" The fact that you were honest about your tutorial meant a great deal to me. i just bought a GoPro Hero 9 to learn to use it for videography and I stumbled upon this video tutorial. Thank you! Speaking as an online tutor, I must say that your passion in tutoring shines. I look forward to learning more from you. Cheers from PA!
Just received my GoPro Hero 9, watched this multiple times and used most all your suggestions before even taking one clip. Thank you so much for your great video!!
Just purchased my very first GoPro yesterday. I should have realized there wouldn't be anything in the box like maybe a User Guide. I know, that's so old school. So, off to RU-vid I went. And after much searching I came upon this video. I am by no means a "technophobic" type of person nor am I techno challenged, but I am truly glad that I found this instructional video. Everything was explained in ways everyone can understand, and at a pace that was comfortable. Suggestions for adding equipment like light filters was appreciated. And formatting the SD card before filming would never have occurred to me. If you're new to GoPro like me, then I highly recommend you watch this
I know I'm late to the party but this was a fantastic video! I've never used a GoPro before and had no idea what to do with all the settings. I watched several how to videos but they weren't very helpful. Your presentation is excellent, you describe everything very well and most importantly to me, you explain why to use the settings you suggest. Definitely a new subscriber here! Cheers.
Out of 100 videos which I saw on youtube for best go pro settings, you're video was awesomeeeeeeeee...... All things described in a perfect balanced way. Actually I learned a lot now about my go pro & now can the settings accordingly. Incredible work bro...🤟🤟
My GoPro Hero 9 should arrive in a day or two, so THIS video caught my eye. Watched the full video, and will be referring back to your instructions at least 30 times (or more!) to get smart in GoPro world. Thanks so much!
This was incredible! For someone that knew nothing before watching this, I feel pretty educated walking away from this. Great job and thank you so much!
Just bought the GP9 after selling my GP6. I consider myself quite a nerd with the settings, but I actually learned a lot from this video. I’ve changed the settings accordingly. Great video !! 👍👍
@@senorbonbon I’d say 2.7k/60 is a good setting to use. It means you can slow the footage down (if you need to) and it’s a good quality setting if you wish to also crop.
Just purchased the GoPro 9 and I am super excited to use it on my trip out west especially now that you did such a great job in presenting the settings. Thank you, my friend.
Thanks for putting things into terms that a newbie like me can really understand. I do have 2 requests. Please provide the links to a recommended mic, ND filters, that won't break the bank. Lastly, please provide your gopro settings for other options besides standard.
Yesterday I bought this cam online, and sat back and thought...er....now what?! Then after a few silly vids on RU-vid I came across yours and now I'm super-excited to get started. You have made this all worth while. (and yes, I've been back online...bought the Rode mic, the ND filters, the cage, the case). Nice cheap weekend this was! lol. Thank you SO much for explaining many of its features. I'm sure I will be back when this camera arrives. play, pause, play, pause, a few times :-) Thanks.
Thank you so much. I know nothing about taking photos or videos and you really helped me understand what the settings are, why we have them and what they do. You're awesome 👌. Will definitely follow you're channel and start watching all your videos. Cheers Nikki 🇦🇺
This is my first GoPro, and I am glad you indicated the sluggish response of the touch screen; I actually thought that GoPro had sent me a faulty camera. As long as this is considered "normal," I'm okay with that, I just need to get used to a certain swiping method.
Just ordered my Hero 9 and I'll definitely re-watch this when it arrives!! Some very good explanations for those of us who really don't know what we're doing :-)
Thank you so much for such a slow down explanatory video because I’m going to be getting the GoPro hero nine to start my automotive review channel back up and really wanted an awesome tutorial video that I can go back and watch and thoroughly learn how to set it up and use it like the back of my hand. Subscribed and liked
Good video, although a note to those recording in 4k, make sure your editing software can handle it! Also make sure you have enough storage either on a computer or external drive to store it! Lots of people buy GoPros but still run quite old computers that lag horribly in 4k playback. If your just recording home videos you really don't need 4k, 2.7 or HD will still look great
Excellent video with outstanding explanations. I am wondering is you could produce a somewhat modified version that would help older folks like me that are new to the action cam world. I think it would be helpful to see a video that has separate setting provided in short segments. For example, Standard could be setting you recommend for normal home videos, like outdoor birthday parties, walks around town, etc. A screenshot of a typed summary of settings at the end of each segment would be great. A second Action preset could be for what most GoPro users do - live sports like skiing, biking, surfing, etc. A third helpful preset would be for recording Sport Games, like football, soccer, lacrosse, etc. I like to film my son’s football games and would benefit from your recommendations on the settings. A fourth would be Cinematic presets. Gemini Connected is a channel that has a helpful video. Your channel and theirs are both really exceptional. Thank you very much for all the great content.
I've found that the touch screen seems to respond fine when I use my thumb to click buttons and scroll through the menus. The touch screen really starts acting wonky when I try using any of my other fingers. It seems like GoPro designed it this way for some reason. Pro tip: use your thumb!
I have just discovered your video on the ultimate setup guide and found it very useful and easy for a 78 year old to follow, much appreciated. Geoff Ramsden.
Great review on the settings. I just picked up a GoPro 9 and this was helpful. I do quite a bit of mountain biking and I've experimenting with different settings. I like 4K as the resolution but not sure on the frame rate. I don't do a lot of slow motion but want a more "real" look as opposed to cinematic. Should I stick the 60fps?
Cinematic looking video is best done in 24/30 frames per second. If you are looking to capture fast action type stuff as it looks in real life you would want to use 60 frames or higher to give it a smooth look as apposed to the action being too fast for the frames per second and the video look not coming out very well.
Thanks for a great video, Forest. Thank YT for recommending it. 😜 Question: If there's too much light coming into the camera due to a low shutter speed, wouldn't it be enough to lower the ISO instead of having to purchase a polarizing filter? You mentioned that lowering the ISO will give a better image quality anyway, so why not utilize this instead of leaving light out by means of a filter? PS. my name is Henk and yes, I really am a TroubleMaker 😄
I got GoPro 9 last week, I have watched 30+ videos but was still not sure which setting does what, finally I end up here and I am very much confident about the settings now. Thanks to you man your life savior.
Kids gave me a GoPro Hero 9 for Christmas and I used your video for initial settings. What a clear and concise lesson. Thanks, you are a master teacher.
just would like to say a BIG thank you i have been looking for a long time now for somebody to explain everything about my hero 9 and out of them all you are the best your really easy to understand and your instructions are easy to follow thanks again jimmy from Manchester England
Watched many hero 9 videos as I’m waiting for mine to arrive, your video was by far the best and most informative well put together out of all. I wish you lots of success in your RU-vid career. I have recently started my channel and trying to learn. Thanks again for the tips.
Fun fact: experienced GoPro user. I spent 2 hours looking for the protune settings before I realized I just had to swipe up to move the settings menu... also the touch screen is garbage. Glad to see I'm not the only one having issues, great video man I watched the whole thing thank you so much!
Thank you! I'm getting back into my photography roots...got a GoPro and need to learn videography. I appreciate the professional dialogue. Subscribed and will be looking at more of your videos!
Cranking one of the original GPs and bought the 9 package at Cosco. You have the most informative and easy to follow vid on how to best use this, great work and much appreciated out here, thank much
Hello. Great Video👏👏👏...Well done! As a RU-vidr and skier.. I have recently upgraded from Hero 5 session to the Gopro9... I was always waiting for the front screen, I mostly use my phone for all my videos.. but now with the Gopro 9 and your video...things will start to look a little better in the future.. Thanks for the great video!! 🇨🇦😎🇨🇦 CGP
Thank you for your Video. This is very useful for me, because I have recently bought a new GoPro Hero9 Black camera. I am very new to this Camera, I got most valuable information thorough your video. You have explained all the features of the camera in layman's language. This help me a lot to understand the features of the Camera. Thank you once again for such a wonderful setup guide.
Thank you so much for this video! I just got one as a gift and I couldn’t seem to click on any tutorials that helped like this one. New Sub here! Literally one of the best guides so informative thanks again
