'Archiving' cloud based photos by downloading a copy to local storage and deleting the cloud copy DOES NOT clear storage space in the cloud! Cloud storage space is not cleared until the Delete Folder is cleared. The Delete Folder counts toward your storage.
This is a great video, it's straight to the point and explained perfectly - thank you! I'm actually an amateur photographer and have my first photography event coming up where I will be photographing gymnasts in a gymnasium, so now moving onto your video for setting a custom white balance!! Subscribed.- well done!
This was helpful because I got the same system. The only thing I wish you went into more detail was possibly upgrading the RAM in the port underneath. Could you do a supplemental video on this topic?
Great video, and the tip on upgrading to a 10gb switch was worth it's weight in gold! I'm occasionally getting a 100083 error when trying to transfer files between my MacStudio and the UGreen NAS, however. Any ideas on what might be causing this? It doesn't happen on every file and there doesn't seem to be a pattern.
A little confused, the drive test didn't seem to actually run any test for me... it just initialized my pool almost immediately ..and that was it. Am I missing something? If it's running in the background, is there a way to view its progress?
Are the two ports on the network extender meant for two different devices? Or is one meant to be a wired connection back to the router, and the other a new device?
this is a very helpful video. I am looking for a portfolio and client gallery with function for accepting booking (scheduling) for real estate photography. Been looking at pic-time but it does not have the scheduling feature.
I'm very new to this so if someone could help me understand. If my router is 10gb compatible will I be able to connect my NAS to my router and then my CPU without the switch? My system just came in and I want to know what I still need to buy for fastest connection.
Wow. I found your presentation very easy to follow. I would love to see your recommended set up for using the UGreen NAS as a Google Photos replacement (so family photo and video storage/remote access) as well as a media server for movies and TV shows (just local watching locally).
26:20 manual settings absolutely destroy auto settings on all action camera's including the Ace Pro. Sad they took away manual settings in Pure video mode, that was GAME changer.
Did anyone else experience their main Storage Volume becoming unmounted after setting up an SSD cache for read/write? I think I just lost all of my data.
@@RMSPtv Was fine for about a week and then things went south after a restart. UGreen has been helpful and pushed an update to patch the bug but seems to be indicating that the data is lost forever.
Came here to learn about the "UGREENLink" since i wasn't sure if i can just type in anything or if there is a premade ID i have to use there. Its really impressive how well UGREEN handels the Remoteaccess ans YES you are absolutely right about the security concerns, especially in the future when the system has more polpularity so someone could just make a guess and try to brute force into the remoteaccess. I'm not sure if UGREEN is already aware of that and has some "interventions" implemented or something similar. For me, there is still no reason NOT to use a VPN-Connection to my NAS but netherteless it's cool to have that kinda "exposted" alternative by UGREEN. Anyway, thank you for making that deepdive into the more advanced settings, you are technically the first one who even mentioned how to setup UGREENLink so have my Upvote!
I'm neither a novice, nor a pro at sports photography, so I actually did find the video helpful. Mostly in the sense that it confirmed some of the things I am already doing. Although the part about back button focus is something I should really consider.
Thanks a lot !!! matricial measure, but... what about the focus point selection single point 9 point 25 point tracking etc etc.. i gonna to experiment..
Most photographers don’t understand what the 18% meter calibration was based on or that it changed to 12% when film speed measurement changed from ASA (American Standard) to ISO (International Standard). 18% was based on the response of B&W film which was Orthochomatic when the Weston Meter Adams used was invented. The point was selected by measuring the average reflectance of typically composed outdoor scene on a clear sunny day (1/3 sky / 2/3 forground) and picking the % that exposed the darkest shadows with density on the negative. Based on that 18% standard if one meters off an 18% gray card instead of the scene you should get enough exposure in the shadows of any scene to prevent loss of shadow detail - a very logical solution to the problem. But in the late 1960s when the ISO standard was established film response had change because it was now Panchomatic and color and it was determined 12% was the better calibration point to ensure sufficient shadow rendering on negative film. The gray card now need to be 12% to meter off it correctly. So why does Kodak still sell 18% cards? I was a lab technician at National Geographic in the 1970s and the story I got from Kodak tech reps was that Ansel Adams on learning of the change went to Kodak HQ and lobbied the executives to keep the Kodak card 18% because he had based the Zone System around Zone V = 18%. I started using Adams system in 1971 before going to work at NGS from the 1968 edition of his books. Back then there were only Zone 0 -9 because Adams had divided the tonal scale OF THE SCENE into ten steps black to white OBJECTS but neglected to assign a Zone to SPECULAR REFLECTIONS which are now designated Zone 10 giving the tonal scale 11 steps. He recognized that mistake in the Forward of the 1968 but didn’t revise the text. In the forward of the 1968 edition Adams also addresses the confusion that Zones = f/stops or EV values. They do not and he suggested mentally substituting “Print Value” when reading “Zone”. Zones are Adams narrative description of how tone and detail looks in scene and print. What one needs to wrap their brain around is BLACK in the scene and on a print are different (DARK GRAY) and the brightest WHITE OBJECT is a scene must be rendered GRAY, reserving the white paper base for SPECULAR HIGHLIGHTS ON WHITE OBJECTS. Relating this to digital if photographing white car the brightest parts of the body need to be exposed in the range of 245-250 and the only 255 value should be the specular reflection of the sun on the white body and chrome - the specular highlights are the clue the brain uses to discern 3D in a 2D reproduction. Artists who draw and paint very quickly realize that. We get most of our clues to 3D shape in 2D photos from the shadows but on white nearly flat objects like a car hood all the clues to 3D shape come from the placement of the specular reflections which is why highlight rendering to preserve them is so important. The highlight warning in the playback of DSLR or live EVF of mirrorless is the easiest and most accurate way to expose. Adjust exposure until smooth Zone 9 white objects (not specular highlight) clip then reduce exposure 1/3 stop and you will never blow out highlights in the RAW file. Then look at the left side of histogram to determine if SENSOR RANGE is able to render the shadows accurately. If not just increasing exposure by two - three stops and using HDR in post processing will result in a full range of detail, but requires shooting on tripod or bean bag. I don’t carry a tripod on vacation I just go buy a small bag of rice to set the camera on for HDR captures.
I'm a 26 year DSLR still camera shooter. I'm brand new to video and GoPro. I've been watching many many RU-vid vids. trying to learn GoPro settings. I found your video and it's the BEST! Not only do you show us settings but you tell us "Why"! to use a setting. Thank you sir!
Qnap warranty is shite!! One month out of warranty and they want u to ship unit to Taiwan for $2000 repair, plus $400 shipping to get a $700 board replaced. Avoid them at all costs. Absolute crap after sales service. You cannot get any parts. Even at their local reseller. My $12000 unit is a sea anchor now.
For the Remote Access, is it that only one ugreen account can be linked to the account? So if I wanted other people to be able to access their limited folders, it won’t work over remote access unless they use my account?
That's a wonderful question. They don't need to be part of your account, but they will access the NAS through their web browser at the same URL you use. They will just use their own login credentials to access their limited folders.
@@RMSPtv Thanks! I'm really considering getting it. I was a little too slow to go for the early bird kickstart. Hopefully the global release happens soon.
Everything you show on a black camera is hard to see. This is because you have chosen a background that is too bright for the video, and the video camera cannot cope with this contrast. She tells you: "I can shoot either a bright background or a black camera with fine details."
