In Today's episode of Know Your Ingredients, we are going to learn about an ancient grain which has recently gained popularity as a super health food, I am talking about Amaranth which is also known as chaulai, rajgira or ramdana in India. It has a super impressive nutrient profile and been associated with a number of amazing impressive health benefits. In India it is manly consumed during navratri fasting because it is actually not a grain. Amaranth is classified as a pseudo cereal, meaning that it’s not technically a cereal grain like wheat or oats, but it shares a comparable set of nutrients and is used in similar ways. Its earthy, nutty flavor works well in a variety of dishes. Besides being incredibly versatile, this nutritious grain is naturally gluten-free and rich in protein, fiber, micronutrients and antioxidants.

Use buckwheat similarly. Grain can be cooked similar to rice. Buckwheat is called Kuttu flour. Fantastic to make rotis. Very nutritious and brings blood glucose down for diabetics.

As a good source of fiber,buckwheat has a low to medium GI. This means that it should be safe to eat for most people with type 2 diabetes (3). In fact, studies link buckwheat intake tolower blood sugar in people with diabetes ( 34 , 35 ).

Hey ... even i am a mother of 18 month old baby n breastfeeding... my weight came to pre pregnancy weight only by feeding. Dont diet too much or else body aches will start later on. Eat healthy n eat when u feel hungry.

Mam when we boil Amaranth in water after sometime it becomes sticky, so shall we strain the water and just take only amaranth, plz suggest, eating laddoos of amaranth is good or not, i love it, so i eat 2 or 3 laddies at a time, is it bad,
