As someone who lives 15 mins from Newcastle, I’ve been waiting for this one. As for the channel, Travel stuff would be cool, maybe city break ideas and activities with pub reviews would be class. I think your demographic (I imagine it’s a lot of blokes like me in the 25 to 40yrs range) would get behind it
I've seen these Irish centres both in the UK and US, and my assumption is that they were originally opened as like community hubs for Irish people living in these cities back when it wasn't as easy to be an Irish person in the UK. I went to one in Buffalo NY and they were nearly in tears when I said I was from Ireland. Great video again Guru, please keep at it.
Will be really sad if the Guinness stuff stops completely, but doing more stuff outside of Guinness as well as the usual I think could be best way forward maybe and please most people? Either way, we started watching for the Guinness but we kept watching for u👍
Guru…your patter has improved so much over the years and it was always good from the start. And I think most people watch your channel for you, not just the Guinness. How about travel type vlogs that centre around a particular dish or drink at a particular restaurant or pub, with extra commentary on that village, town or area? Keep up the good work, whatever it might be 👍🏼
The Tyne Bar and the Free Trade are great bars too, incidentally, your drone footage of the Quayside and bridges is top draw, Im often out and about on the quayside, Durham is another great city to visit.
I just want to thank you for introducing me to the black stuff, I watch all your videos and love your content bro. I used to hate Guinness but now I’m hooked. Keep up the good work son you know it makes sense.
Might be worth making a separate video discussing the future of the channel? Still love the content though but I think New York was defo your peak and I can understand wanting to branch out more. Ultimately, I watch the videos for your personality and the Guinness is secondary!
For the extra cold there's a second cooler that the line goes through under the bar, it wouldn't affect the other pump. The issue is, as a mainly lager drinking country, the cellar will be kept absolutely freezing anyway unless you go to somewhere that specialises in real ales.
I’m from America and because of you I fell in love with guinness and you helped me out on my first trip to Ireland on all the spots to go. Please don’t stop doing guinness videos.
Guinness family are gangsters and Guinness is a Norman French name in origin. There are dozens of other breweries that make much better stouts, not just 'Guinness' - they are a corporate company, like McDonalds, with shady dealings and much of Guinness's history is actually in London. The have spent millions on marketing and helped make St Patricks days a commercial thing for them to make money off. It is a mystery why an Irish person would celebrate such a terrible company. Belhaven Stout ( thinking of a 'big' brewery alternative - is the best stout around, Scottish brewery - not to mention the dozens of smaller breweries. Guinness Filth !
@@aliencactus720 Total Bull shxt .Guinness is the best stout on the planet .I don't care who owns them .Is it not owned by Diagio now ? who also own other drink brands .
Just tuned into this channel. Great idea to enhance your channel towards travel, food while also including the black stuff. Im sure your following will skyrocket as your are a very interesting relatable bloke. Just dont close the channel down mate, I've just joined
Dude! I love you're channel. It's a hard Job describing stout and you do it so well.. many thoughts I've had you Express in words and it's a beautiful thing. Especially being a Dub. You are the true Guinness Guru. Fair play to ya!
So happy you've finally done Newcaslte as its close to me although I agree the guinness isn't amazing. I'd be really gutted if you completely put the Guinness Guru to bed although I can completely see how its kinda come to the end of its life due to there only being so many cities and pubs you can review for a Guinness and I speak for everyone who would agree they would like to see you grow even further as a youtuber. It would be cool to switch the content up and maybe integrate the Guinness Guru into some parts of the content depending on the video.
I was in the bridge hotel, decent pint. I think we all knew that this would come to an inevitable ending. Hope this is stepping stone to a broader career. Top man Darragh.
Definitely a one off with the bridge hotel spillage as all the pints I've had there have been great ,also think some different types of travel videos would be sound lad, keep up the good work
Could you do Durham next time? It's like 10 minutes south from Newcastle. I'm studying there and there are lots of nice pubs. I would reccomend the Shakespeare or Ye Old Elm Tree for a nice Guinness.
Tyneside Irish centre is very under rated. I worked there during my uni days and back then Guinness was our bread and butter and we all had out certificates for the 'perfect pour' Gutted you didn't get an old style glass, they do have them cos my hubby gets one when he's drinking it.x
Im travelling over to Newcastle regularly for last 20 years and only 2 places that do decent guinness are first 2 you went to i normally find the Bridge hotel decent its only place i would drink it over there
What fettle bonny lad. One of my favourite cities in these islands, right there. I hear what you're saying about the Guinness ratings coming to a natural end around now. It's sad all right, but I get it. I'm glad I found this channel before my trip to Dublin last year, and I'm glad it helped take me to the Gravediggers, for instance. That content will abide; and every now and then you might find you want to update it, or put a new spin on it. For the future, I wondered how you'd feel about reporting on other great beer-drinking/pubgoing cities, like Prague, or Munich, or Cologne? I know your tastes are broadening, but I don't know how far! I like your no-nonsense approach, and I think it would work in places like that.
I went to the Gravediggers last week on the way back to the airport. Wonderful experience and I found it through this channel also. I live in Newcastle and I’ve never had a Guinness here! I’ll put that right with the suggestions on here.
Would love an episode where he tries out the different Kolsch breweries. But then again the joy of cologne is sitting at one spot, getting loads at the table and racking up marks on the beer mat
Hope you don’t mind me saying, but I’m a total non drinker by choice, but am somewhat entertained by watching your videos, please don’t give up the Guinness reviews completely! 👍🏻
I lived in Nottingham for 9 years. Big destination for Stags and Hens. Not saying the Guinness is great there but a good city for content. Sheffield is also a great spot if you haven't done that
I'm with you all the way in the deli vs Greggs. I miss those delis big time. Whenever I go back to Ireland I get some of that chicken goujon baguette action
Darragh you’re a top man. GG is brilliant and it’s a real shame the vlogs for the black stuff have to end. I suppose at some point as you said you have covered everywhere. Suffice to say me and my mate are visiting Galway next week on your highly rated views there. The very best of luck in whatever you do mate. It’s been a pleasure watching your stuff. One day would love to have a few Guinness with you. All the best and thanks.
Been following for a few years now Daragh, stoked with your growth and success. Excited to see what you evolve the channel to. I'd recommend you just travel and go to pubs, go with your mates, vlog it. Talk shit, drink, eat and thats it. Would be fun AF to watch.
Definitely be a shame when you stop the Guinness part, but I guess you couldn’t do it forever 😢. Good luck with your new adventure, wherever you take us 🇮🇪🍻
Back in the late '90s it was the Tyneside Irish Centre that had the best pint, as they were bringing it over direct from home, whereas all the stuff available elsewhere in the UK was brewed here. Now it's all brewed at home and shipped from Ireland. A lot of which comes to Runcorn. Not been in the Irish Centre since about late 2000. It's changed a bit. Was like a working men's club back then. Been ponsed up a bit now. Last time I was there, when I came outside there was a girl squatted down on the other side of the road with her dress gathered up round her waist and her knickers pulled to one side, pissing into a drain. Newcastle is a classy town.
For me personally I've always enjoyed the vids where you go to the Irish towns the most. There's still plenty of places to visit such as Lucan etc. But I understand if that is getting too repetitive for you.
I've been waiting for this one and i have to say Bridge Tavern in the Quayside is BY FAR the best (Bridge Hotel is hit and miss but decent) and i haven't tried the Tyneside Irish Centre before...but there are a couple of honorable mentions - Lady Grey and Bacchus. Crown Posada is a class pub but i do not rate the G in there tbh. Also, how dare you diss Gregg's 😆 those Sausage, Bean & Cheese bakes save lives!!
I'm Irish too man. Living in the UK for 5 years now. I've been all over the UK and only had two good pints the best one is in Slough in a little Irish pub called the hershall. The landlord is an old gentleman from kerry and has good knowledge on how to pour the perfect pint. Mind you Slough ain't the place to visit. The second best was bristol in a Irish pub called coach and horses run by a man from what I can remember a long time 😂 Bristol is the top spot in the UK to visit or live in my opinion
I have been to lreland 8 weeks ago the Guinness was 💩 the Murphy was better the lrish lad's in Newcastle said Guinness is overrated in lreland not one of them drinking Guinness all of them drinking lager
Fiddlers elbow one of the best ive had in England. Up there with Coach and horses cov garden, Flan o briens in Bath and Painters Arms in Luton worth a mention too
I agree lad, get on the travels and score some other stuff as you are limiting ourself to one beer/experience. Where is Coulsy? Get him back on the scene.
Enjoy the Guinness reviews as an Englishman living in Scotland and married to a Meath woman. You still have lots of places to go to, but fully understand that you have to diversify your stuff. Please keep going on some Guinness stuff from time to time.
As per the beer mats on the bar - was called the Crown but renamed Crown Posada, supposedly was bought by a Spanish sea captain for his mistress, and Posada is Spanish for resting place. Always welcome in The Toon ☘️⚫️⚪️

I think that your persona is so cool, hilarious and engaging that you will succeed outside the Guinness cage....only problem will be the new logo...Pissed Up Guru?...Nosh Guru?..Sloshed Guru?...take a poll....we will follow ...as Bono nearly said....
It’s a shame on your timing we’re due a Dubliner bar on the quayside and another Irish bar called Katie O’Briens just opened. There’s also a bar called Gunnar Tavern which does custom prints on the Guinness dome
I agree with The Guinness Guru when it comes to Greggs, its shite, I live in Yorkshire and much prefer Thomas The Baker bakeries which are all over the yorkshire region, pasties, pastries and sandwiches taste better and the bread is fresher, the coffee is awful at Greggs as well, you dont have to go to a posh hipster coffee place, although their coffee is better, just any cafe with a coffee/espresso machine will be better than Greggs, it just goes to show how much you are simply paying for the brand and not quality, at least with Guinness it is still a big brand but you still get a great quality pint if its poured correctly and being in Ireland helps, all the workers in Greggs do is press a button for the coffee and it tastes like burnt cement!
